  1. Anyone know where I can get some from?

I really want to put some rubber on my v12 rather then foam just for general running on pavement and for a little bit more clearance!

I wanted to make a rally conversion but I don't think that's going to happen but maybe in the future!

Found these on Ebay but there Isn't any in stock :(

  2. No your running a stick /plane tx right?

So your inputs into the rx are all different to a pistol grip.... As your channels are different.

Are you running mode 1 or 2?

    Yeah that's right.

    I believe it's mode 2 so that's channel 2 on the RX?

So that's throttle on the right hand side and steering on the left.

Unless I have the modes the wrong way round haha!

  3. Hi guys, I need a little bit of help.

I had all my electronics come today for my Mardave rally conversion but I seem to be having trouble with the ESC and Tx/Rx.

Bought a Hobbywing Quicrun brushed just to get started again and a Turnigy TGY-i4x as I prefer stick over pistol grip.

First thing, I am under the impression I have to connect the ESC to channel 2 which is the throttle right as when I turn everything on I just get one beep indicating I have a NiMh and nothing else, not even the steering servo will move 😕

I have a red flashing light on the ESC and according to the manual that is something to do with the alignment which cant be as everything is in the neutral position.

I have tried rebinding the Tx to the Rx but same thing, red flashing light :(

Could it have something to do with the battery I am using as well? Its only a 4 cell NiMh but it is turning on, I do have a 2s LiPo coming next so is it a case of trying again when that arrives?

Thank you in advance for any help!

  4. This pic I found on Google shows 10th on-road wheels fitted on a V12 running standard height.

Fitting off-road tyres needs more clearance.
Off road suspension needs even more clearance.

I'm not gonna lie, that actually looks pretty sweet!

I'm glad it's been done before gives me a reference to work off :)

  5. If you need help with the 12mm hex I have designed and 3d printed a converter that just goes over the axel.

As Garry said above it's really the ideal chassis as it's designed for flat surfaces so no doubt it won't handel that well.

if it was me i'd be looking to get a tt-01 chassis brand new off of ebay for about £50 however this could be a fun little project.

Thanks Alex! Will definitely be interested.

I had a quick look on ebay and didn't seem to find anything (probably because this is a awful idea...)

I already have a TL01 but I kinda like the smaller size of these cars.

Definitely a project [emoji23] I have no idea how this is going to turnout!

  6. Bad news first right? Don't worry better news will follow.

It's totally the wrong car for that type of driving. The have millimetres of suspension monrment not the inches needed for off road use. At absolute best it'll struggle to run on a rough street.

It uses Z-Drive wheel fittings so first step is to convert it to hexes to fit more regular rally car wheels and tyres. These will be 60mm diameter rather than the stock 50mm diameter so an extra 10mm of ground clearance.

Bad news now  To get any more clearance you'll be fabricating so much in the front suspension and replacing the motor pod and rear axle, fitting a differential etc that it's less effort and cost to just start off with something better suited to begin with.

So basically it's possibly possible but it's not a quick simple project, expect it to take a long time to end up with something still terrible at the job in hand.

On the positive side its definitely a Mardave V12, I've had lots over the years. They are very limited cars in terns of what they can and can't do. It's not xa kind of car where you just buy and fit upgrades. It's a car best suited to scratch builders and fabricators.

    So to recap

    Convert to hexes
    Fit rally wheels and tyres
    Fit off road suspension
Possibly replace the entire rear end of the car

    Thanks for the advice!

I understand its a completely stupid project and will take a long time but I have a lot of that spare [emoji23].

So it's pretty much getting the ground clearance on this then.

I'll have a better understands of the car when it arrives tomorrow.

On a whole I like a challenge and I'm looking forward to it!

Just a quick question will 1/10 wheels look a bit big on the car or is that something I am stuck with?

  7. Hey guys, glad to be here!

I've always been a massive fan of hobby grade RC cars but never really has a opportunity to be part of it.

Recently purchased a new toy and looking to do a conversion project so will more then likely be posting about how well thats going haha!

I'm based in the North West and would say I'm more in to Rally and Stadium trucks over anything else :)

Anyway I hope you are all well, take care!

  8. Hey guys!

I'm looking for a full radio system for a project I'm starting on the cheap is possible, I'm not too fussed if its 2.4ghz or crystal (Do prefer stick over pistol grip though!)

Let me know what you have with pictures and prices, must be posted unless local to Ellesmere Port) :)

    Thank you!

  9. Hey guys, just after some general advice to if this is even possible!

I picked up a super cheap vintage Mardave v12 (Not sure if its a Mini Stox though) with a pretty sweet looking Megane shell as a new project over the summer.

I'm not too in to the oval racing and more off road/dirt bashing and I'm wanting to convert this in to something that will run decent on those surfaces (Big big big ask....)

I'm wanting to redo the electrics and need to pick up a radio but I'm wondering if anyone else has done this before or if anyone has any pointers :)

Picture  to properly identify what I've purchased.

    Thanks in advance!

  10. I finally got round to getting myself a "Proper" RC Car, not some ****ty Chinese crap with parts that break every 2 minutes!

I picked up a second hand TL-01 for dirt cheap and I want to be able to convert it to run rally.

Came with slick tires and A awesome looking vintage Futaba Attack-SR transmitter!

I was wondering what size shocks I should get I was thinking 75mm but I'm not too sure and would I have to replace the T bones in it.

Also it came with a vintage looking ESC possibly a stock part anyone got any info on it like T limit?

    And recommendations would be great.

    Thanks.

  11. Hi there. I'm pretty new to RC cars and got my first proper RC car today. I'm wondering if there are any short length, high capacity NiMH batteries about. My current bay holds a battery that's 100mm long (plus its 7.2v). I've seen most are about 130mm so just a general question . If there is could anyone point me in the right direction. Thanks in advance!

  12. Hi guys. I'm pretty new to RC only ever drove those toys a few years back. Looking to pick up my first proper RC vehicle on Saturday. Just wondering if there is anywhere nice to pratice dirt/tarmac in Chester? Cheers!
