I've already made my mind up, I'm going to stick with the search for an SC8 or Max10, simply because I know them well (well, the SC8 anyway) and I have a bit of a gripe with RCmart at the moment.
But thanks for the heads up Rich
Oops to be honest I'd never bothered to look up the spec on that ESC as I just assumed it would be fine running 2s. I did run it on 2s and it never seemed to cause a problem, but then I can't remember if I ever ran it until it cut off. Hence the hard case 2s I left in it. If I'm truthful I kinda liked the over powered bit as long as you're not on a really grippy surface and gentle with the throttle.
Glad you're enjoying it anyway and hopefully you will get it sorted, I suspect with a better suited ESC, a change of settings and maybe gearing it would be an absolute hoot. A change of motor might ultimately help as well.
It's hasn't changed much since I brought it so whatever was in the shocks still is the same, I literally used it about six times maximum.

Time to pursue something different, I haven't had time to use any of this stuff for over six months.
Traxxas Summit 1/10
Original apart from a dewalt motor and single savox high torque steering servo. Has been used obviously so the body, chassis and exo cage have scratches, small splits and marks.
The truck it's self was stripped and rebuilt after my last use, the only tiny issue is the spur is a bit noisy as I didn't tighten the pinion before testing and it slipped off a bit damaging the spur slightly. However it runs perfectly fine, just a bit noisy. The tyres have had holes repaired in on two of them, not the prettiest but perfectly serviceable and have loads of life left in them.
I still have the original wheels (sprayed orange) but they're not in great shape and the original motor.
Will come complete it original TX and instructions RTR all you would need are LiPo's.
I have two sets of LiPo's which are slightly swollen and two sets of 8.4v NiMh but have never caused a problem which I would include if you want to collect. I'm not risking posting them though I'm afraid.

Hi All,
Not 100% sure about this, but feel like I've reached a point where I need a change so testing the water really.
Traxxas Summit, used but in good condition. Is currently in pieces being rebuilt after a visit to the beach.
See my thread here
So it's currently stock apart from a 18v dewalt motor, a single Savox high torque steering servo and proline trencher wheels and tyres (they're perfectly serviceable, but have a couple of repairs to holes in tyres).
The body has scuffs and scratches as does the exo cage, but it is however perfectly presentable.
I'm just in the process of cleaning and rebuilding. It will have hub bearings replaced where needed and the diff and gearboxes where only rebuilt a few months ago and have been out literally once.
Will come with TQI controller and a few bits I have including some alloy wishbones and hubs. I also have the standard wheels they're usable but just not very true anymore and motor if you want to go back to stock. I've also got the instructions and possibly the box somewhere.
Now the tricky bit, I'd like £275 for it, but I've no idea what they currently sell for?
Open to offers via pm, might even consider a trade WHYG?
Collection from RG19 area preferable because of size and weight. If you where collecting I also have three pairs of liPo's that I'm willing to do a deal on, but that's something that would have to be negotiated.
I could post but I definitely don't want to post liPo's and I'd have to find out the price. An educated guess says about £20 for an insured tracked parcel.
All prices would be excluding fees.

Quick update.
It's transpired that the ESC also took out the receiver
I didn't notice it when I powered it up to check the ESC, but it twitches really badly when use the steering.
So yet again by some incredible coincidence a forum member had some for sale
All fixed now, just need get saving from a decent esc

Someone came up trumps, this can be locked now thank you

I would either return to stock or get a better esc. I rUn the castle mmm2 in mine and it's spot on.
Yes I think in the long run a better ESC is going to be the way to go.
However a member here came up trumps with a stock ESC and I've installed it minus the UBEC as I'm just not convinced that didn't effect it somehow.
Much neater and I'm not 100% sure it made much difference when it was working anyway.
Here's to getting out and having some fun again.

I would bite the bullet and get another esc I run a MMM2 in mine and never had any problems.
Will this run brushed?
I'd like to keep the dewalt conversion if poss.

To be fair its not obvious that they won't take the torque of a beefy brushless setup. You'd imagine that nitro was similar, but of course brushless develops torque from a standing start.
It depends what you want from it, I started out with Dave's conversion and basically ended up building a new E Maxx. However if I'd just run it on 2s with less power it probably wouldn't have twisted the driveshafts so quickly.
I have to say though that E Maxx along with my Summit never failed to take a pasting and come back for more.
Now I've randomly found this thread I really miss my RC stuff especially my E Max and Summit.
