One thing I did notice when I had the hyper 7 out was that the brakes are not as good as the hyper SS so having a spare centre diff & brakes I fitted the fibre disks & metal pads from the SS. It's too late to try it now but even pushing it up & down the living room they seem better
Rob
what brakes was you running before bud...mine are stock not proper brake shoes just bits of metal on yellow nylon/fibre disc and she locks up everytime

I got them oils they are dead slow at dispatch when you order them message them and then send it on your paypal mine all turned up after long wait...im running 7000 5000 3000 spin her on a hair pin now

Bec read this. http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/electric-rc-helis-167/7683693-explaination-bec.html
Esc / lipo's etc. you should be able to find easy on this site. I seriously recommend reading up a bit.
Edit..Oh bec is explained above also.
Cheers for that i have read it and makes sense to i haven't got a BL i am a nitro fan but i was thinking of getting one so it is helpful to find out stuff before i decide what to buy..i will pass this info on.

he is running the stock lipos that came with it but he has just bought some turnigy nano tech 6000mah 7.4v lipos for it as he was lucky if he got 10min run time out the stock ones
-
3s you will should be safe it's only 80 amp but it does say you can run 4s
firstly thanks for your help..but can you say that in a easier way for a total noob to understand it is his first RC and 3s 4s ESC BEC they all are double dutch to us sorry..its is runny 2 7.4v 2 cell batteries at the moment...does what you say mean he can run 2 x a higher volt lipo's
-
Cheers any idea whether the Optimus XL can take a voltage up grade from stock??
-
Hi guys i am asking this on behalf of a mate who has a DHK Optimus XL..the thing is the steering servo is what id call slow to say the least...so he is looking to upgrade the servo but when we read about servo they seem to range from 4.8-7.2volts..the thing is the Optimus XL runs on 2 x 7.4v one for the motor one for the servo..so will a 7.2v servo get fried running a 7.4v lipo through it. Also we are both newbies and i know nothing about BL he was also wondering if anyone knows if the motor in a Optimus XL straight out the box could take a larger volt lipo than a 7.4V. Cheers guys

Ouch....i want some of them towers but there like bloody hens teeth to get hold of....dont know if i could butcher my shell though...id probably have to buy another shell and chop that one as i love the paint job on mine....as for chassis braces i ant find any hop ups for the hyper on fleabay sick iv looking now :-(
-
Hehe
Yup ST pro towers, you won't bend or break one of those!
Front bumper is a T-Bone (google )
Braces = eBay
Did you have to cut the nose off your shell so it will fit with them towers bud...I WANT THAT CAR!!!

Have you got the ST pro shock towers on that bad boi...also where did you get that big ass bumper from i need one asap...i snapped a CNC pro rear shock tower at the weekend :-( P.s im also after alloy chassis braces where can i get them from....Oh what the hell just give me your hyper.....Please :-)

You want a cheap but decent servo for a hyper and your only bashing can I recommend this one http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/__29621__Turnigy_Metal_Gear_Servo_60g_15_5kg_16sec_UK_Warehouse_.html?strSearch=1501mg not waterproof but not many cheap servos are I have this in my savage flux smeared Vaseline all over it should keep the water out for a bit till I can do the job properly that's the thing the only true waterproof servo is one you do yourself
After frying mine being waterproof is the main option for me i want to get a waterproof one then coat it myself just to make sure i am going to get some plasti dip to try and save its life for a bit longer
-
I've just had a look at the Goteck, yes it's got quite a lot more torque than the Etronix and is slightly faster. Can't find anything about it being waterproof though. It really depends on how necessary you think being waterproof is I guess.
Hi i have seen it advertised as waterproof but i must say its the GS-5515DTA i think i might bite the bullet and try it out and if it ends up not being waterproof i will of tried it out then when it fries i will send it back :-) that's if i cant find a better option that is....from what i have read people seem to think its safe to use in there planes as it centers back really well...i wouldn't put anything in a plane i couldn't trust i guess.
-
I've just looked up the specs of both and the Etronix is very slightly slower than the Savox but has quite a bit more torque, so it's up to you. If you want one a bit more powerful I'd have the Etronix but they look fairly similar.
Cheers bud the waterproof bit my win it over id like to find out if the GOTECK servo is any good it states its part titanium i think with a bit more torque than the Etronix
-
I bought the Etronix a few months back and put it in the Maverick. Obviously it's not a high end servo, so it's not that fast but I find it fast enough for general messing about and it's been through a couple of deep puddles without letting me down! I would probably buy another one if I needed another water proof servo.
It does make a really annoying noise though, sounds quite cheap.
thanks for the advice the noise part might put me off thou...do you think there are as quick as the standard savox steering servo that's in my hyper..its model SC-0254mg as i quite like the speed of it but its fried.
-
Hi i am looking for a budget friendly servo for my Hyper id prefer waterproof as i fried one at the weekend..i have found 2 but don't know if they are any good, so i was wondering if anyone on here has come across them or used them before...
GOTECK GS-5515DTG
ETRONIX ES092
Cheers guys

I wonder if the main bearing has bitten the dust. Hence that silver paste i mentioned. I dont believe it to be a tuning issue really. The thing is, its so easy to rebuild a motor with the marder boy kit you mentioned... that said, a new main bearing is about a fiver so i guess that could be the way to go first. I just know with a new carb and bottom end it WILL be fixed!
Always go for the cheaper option first bud...i am a newbie so i went for new bottom end just for piece of mind i know mine works fine now i have also put a new carb on and when i have the time and money i will rebuild my old engine mainly so i can get a idea of how they work while my buggy is still up and running so it does not matter if i damage anything...all a learning curve for me.

Good vid, now hit the ramps!
We did hit the ramps but it was my mates first ever attempt at a ramp and there are more bloopers than jumps...we have to get a grass race on vid and some decent jumping on vid...THEN the bloopers will be released..i will say they both ended up needing repair but the Optimus did hold out well on the ramps.
-
Optimus had it off the line but Hyper nailed it when it hit its sweet spot...
Optimus wins but it should have been much faster is it on 4s?
4s??? i am not a brushless guy..we are both newbies..its running straight out the box with duel batteries 2 cells each 7.4v

This is a video of my Hyper 7 taking on the Optimus XL on tarmac drag race

Finaly got to put my Hyper up against my mates Optimus XL today just trying them out for fun..this is the first part to my vid collection

Im looking at the novarossi P4 plus for mine but dont know if its a good novarossi or not...i will go the rossi way on my upgrade but not shore which yet
-
I got my whole bottom end off Marder-boy on ebay its states he is selling the piston and liner but if you read the small print you get the whole bottom end crank and case...i think it was about 39quid...hope it doesnt come to that but if it does message him for a price out of ebay he prefers it that way to save you both abit of cash...next day delivery aswell.

I bought mine preowned and she was a total pig...stripped it down found bits of glow plug fused to the button head..could not for the life of me get it to idle down after reverting back to stock setting several times it spluttered bogged ran fuel out the exhaust put a new bottom end on her flushed carb sealed it and hey presto runs sweet as a nut (i found the stock setting were far to rich running Byron Race gen2 20% nitro)...hope you get it sorted
-
Bogging and spluttering at wot sounds like the HSN is too rich to me.
Yep id say so after sealing mine i had to lean the HSN out quite abit
