  1. ok the engine is now installed, all fitted & friction between the pinion & spur is very smooth. Had to slice of the corner of the plastic engine cover to make free way for the throttle linkage I believe everything is setup now will just get the servo trims right & break it in tomorrow if weather permits
  2. The previous engine is a CY losi engine. I am still trying to drill out the one screw without damaging anything so will try again later the same way & all them rotated 180"
  3. Ok another problem. With the 19t plates on the bottom engine does not properly align (spur & pinion to far apart) I believe I put the 19t plates on the bottom the right way round as I took a picture previously when the other engine was on & put it back together like that? I have tried messing around with them but still no good. Think I have stripped a screw in one hole so I think I am screwed now for good. Have to drill it out.
  4. I've just thread locked it & put it back together mate, but if I see any problems I'll do the cut out at the top. As I made the order last week for the dual trays etc I got this carrier coming aswell: This one is enclosed but very well vented That one shows a 2 speed, the one I got coming is for a single pinion as I will not be messing around with 2 or 3 speeds this time lol Will try the 19t but also keep a 20t & 21t pinion on hand for the long straights at the place I go to.
  5. C'mon mate need a full throttle video to see what it can really do I will get one by this weekend hopefully.
  6. the side panels are bartalone, and the top & bonnet panel are homemade Couldn't resist it, pulled the old engine out Started disassembly of the clutch assembly & removed everything till the clutch back plate Old engine now gone started assembly of the new one, cleaned everything replaced with a new clutch Going to leave it for now as it's 3:30am but here's a dry fit The best thing about the 5ive is that everything is so easy to work on, as it's so big it's all their infront of you and their is no hassle to get under any parts. You don't have to unscrew a million other things to get to the bit you need as it's all on a flat surface. Engine looks wicked, currently it's got a 19T pinion on it which I think should provide reasonable low & top end from this engine.
  7. You never know if I get bored I might throw the new engine in it before the weekend. Seeing as this one is fired up perfectly now it will be up for sale, if anyone wants it let me know 60quid posted comes with a 668
  8. damn I have a lot to learn lol, petrol engines don't really like being pulled like a nitro, my baja one starts in 2-3 pulls. It's running fine now anyway. Hopefully get used to this engine then I can throw the other beast in it.
  9. Ok so kept trying & trying did not start. Got back from park now, spoke to previous owner & he said I may have flooded it. As i tried starting it numerous times I must have pressed the bulb 15+ times (which I shouldn't have done) so it didn't start. So took the spark plug out, cleaned it pulled it a few times without the plug. Tried starting it again & she started. Idling good no problems. Sucks I got it to start after coming back from park, will be taking it back out this weekend now. Here's where I went though, gave the hyper a good bashing. Destroyed the clutch on it. That's heaven for speed runs, it's pretty much dead all the time. Behind that is a dirt bike track, will get the 5ive on it this weekend!
  10. Guess that's how the hobby is nobody is born with this knowledge we all start off a noob. Starting a engine you have just received can be a pain, starting a 2 year old engine with no choke & wonky carb settings can be a bigger pain. Especially for me as it's my first day with the 5ive. But should be good once it gets going
  11. I think the idle screw was the culprit as it was screwed all the way in and throttle must've been at 15-20% Screwed the idle all the way out & now I am going to slowly go in until engine starts without engaging clutch. The clutch does not catch when I try start it, their is no movement in the wheels. I will reset the servo trims so throttle is not open, & mess with the idle until it starts.
  12. Sorry I didn't change the carbs over, it's still got the stock carb it came with. Because it didn't have a choke I removed the choke from the baja & put it on the losi carb to start it up. But as soon as it started the engine revved like crazy I'm pretty sure the throttle was 0%.
  13. Put the choke in from the my baja, started it up & it just went full throttle on me? These are the positions it was at: Thank god it was on a stand.
  14. Engine is not firing, is it missing the choke?
  15. I like these panels make it looks different to all losi's. Will be taking it out the evening, finally!
  16. Inside's of the 5ive for anyone wondering, in pretty mint condition Size comparison with the baja:
  17. ^ your right. both cams for both front & rear brake's are the opposite way. Fixed em up also pretty silly of me quite a easy fix could've unscrewed the pin, spun the cams the right way round, put the pin in the right hole & off we go.
  18. I adjusted the trims right, but when the servo pulls on the brake pin that twists to slam the brake disks shut, that pin twists but is not connected to the brake pads. Im probably sounding like a right idiot now, I'll some picture's up in a hour.
  19. 475quid? You could buy another used losi for that much lol
  20. The carb on the rcmk I have is a 990 which is chokeless. I want to get a feel of the losi 26cc before that one goes in though. I can get a picture up of the brakes after 11 when I get home, pretty bummed couldn't get it run today I was at a good dirt bike track which is pretty much dead out so could've been sick for the 5ive. Sad the baja can't go their either the pipe is stuck in customs This is a pik I took earlier when I got it don't think it's clear enough
  21. Kind of annoyed, fitted in the radio etc. went park & found out the brakes don't work. It has the disk's but I think their are no pads & when the servo's pull the pins their's nothing there which close's the brake pads. (which it does not have anyway) They are just 2 metal plates around the brakes I don't think their pads? Sorry if that's described terribly I'll get picture's up later
  22. Yeah haha definitely, having a quick look at the shock towers etc it already feels like a tank they are quite thick being stock so kind of confused what it needs. After a bash today I'll hopefully figure out what needs doing. The engine will defo be going on this, dual servo's etc will be going on. But as far as chassis upgrade's i'll have to see figure out the weak points. With the baja I clearly wanted to replace the km parts do all the chassis etc but this losi is looking solid.
