  1. If you are near enough to Keighley, West Yorkshire, I have one you can have. Don't really want the hassle of packing it.
  2. Just think, dazzer69, if you joined the Club, you would have the added convenience of using the track-side car park.
  3. The next Club Day is 7th. April, Vandalbulldog. Come along and make yourself known. John Veal (very tall chap) is the secretary and it is quite probable that I will be there (in case you hadn't realised, yes, I am a member). I have a silver Mercedes. All I would ask is that you bear in mind that it is primarily a bike club and that you do not use the track when bikes are running as these lads partake in National events and need some time for practice/setup. Rest assured, though, there will be plenty of time to run buggies, trucks, go-karts and anything else. The hardcore of regulars (now) all have buggies themselves, after all. The membership catchment is quite wide, and includes people from North Yorkshire, South Yorkshire, Lincolnshire and, Heaven forbid, Lancashire, so you have to make allowances!
  4. I should have added that my previous post was my personal view and not necessarily those of the Club.
  5. I have contacted the Club official who left the post. Without knowing their side of it, I think both ts4n and vandalbulldog are being a little harsh. Dealing first with the moral aspect of whether or not one should have to pay to have fun - maybe you should try that argument at the gates of Alton Towers? Or if someone turned up at a bash without a car and, without asking, just took yours and played with it - regardless of of whether or not they damaged it - how would you feel? The Skipton Club do not own the site, they are tenants and meeting their obligations with current membership levels and subscriptions is difficult. Quite apart from any financial obligations, imagine having to keep that grass cut - no one else does it! Whilst these are factors, the primary reason that the Official HAD to take the stance that he did is because of the risk of injury and insurance. Oh, I know we are all careful, but accidents happen! Particularly in this litigation mad world with accident claim firms touting for business. Something happens in a park - you run away and can't be traced. In this context, bear in mind that access to the adjacent playing field is gained over the Club site and with 22+ often youngsters traipsing across, the risk can't be ignored. Something happens at Skipton and they go for the Club assuming they have sanctioned it. Consequently, the Club has no alternative but to distance themselves from your meet by forbidding it. As far as members are concerned with the mandatory BRCA membership, they are insured anywhere, any time so there is no problem with them using it. Lets face it,
  6. The club is primarily rc bikes, but they run anything there (and accept "non-bike" members - modest
  7. Skipton probably easier on models than I suspect Peel Park to be - most damage caused by collisions with rostrum! Not quite as flat as it seems in photo; there are some small mounds you can "take off" from.
  8. I've just been round by Peel Park (I was in Bradford early, as I had to drop my wife and daughter off) and had a look. Having (only just) got up to the BMX track once (without any gear), whilst I really appreciate the offer of help, I don't think there is any way I could get even get myself up there again. Looked as though it could have been fun, though. I can see now why you have lots of breakages. I think I shall have to wait until you meet somewhere more car (full size) friendly. Disappointed!!
  9. By that, I don't mean we don't make any noise, but that there are no houses nearby, so no complaints.
  10. Whilst Skipton is a private club track (Northern Radio Moto Club), I don't think there would be any objection to occasional use as guests, provided it was left tidy. Of course, other than on Club Days, I am sure that many locals use it informally. Fortunately, these days, there isn't a problem with noise.
  11. That is very kind of you. I may be tempted to load a few more then. I'll try and resist the temptation to load up as I do for Skipton (tarmac track and small grass oval only) - They are into bikes, so I usually take enough trucks and buggies for everyone to have a play together - I think the most I've managed in one trip is 16 but I won't go that mad!
  12. Thanks Leeds Savage, I suspected that might be the case when I looked at Google Street View, and from my vague recollections of Peel Park when I used to sail boats there in the 60's & 70's. Gives some idea of my age. Add to that a dicky heart and yes, I do have difficulty with hills, distance and carrying things. I might try to get there with my Marder, though, as that doesn't need any kit to run it.
  13. Thanks for the info. Might just come and have a look for a start and then decide what to bring to a future session - I have been known to turn up with up to 16 models at my other "haunt" at Skipton, which may not be practical at Peel Park.
  14. Is this a formal group, or can anyone just turn up? Is there convenient parking ( I have difficulty walking any distance and cannot stand for long periods, so need my car near) I'm a bit long in the tooth to be competitive - got that out of my system with boats in the 60's and 70's. Just looking for somewhere to have a play with some of my cars and trucks. I have BRCA membership, and hence insurance.
