  1. I've found plenty of wood left over from my parent's house extension that is a perfect size to make a maximum width of 200mm wide shells from and some other assorted lengths that could make a vacuum forming machine so thinking of having a go soon at making a Porsche 911 Carrera RSR 3.0 mould to see how it goes as it's something i like and is versatile for on road or off road rally stuff like this:
  2. I have considered that, the materials are cheap and I've seen quite a few videos of people doing so. Risking my life when my mum finds a load of plastic in the oven and her vacuum gone is a bit more costy haha. Making molds isn't much of an issue for me so Im fending towards simple stuff like trucks or boxy cars.
  3. I missed out Rover P6 and Ford Falcon xb gt (mad max) . Nascars would be nice and easy to make a mold for, i haven't come across capris yet either
  4. Hello, Im currently looking into making my own 1/10 257mm, 237mm etc wheelbase molds and then bodyshells due to not being able to find what Im after. I visited a local vacuum forming company today to inquire about getting some produced and said they would happily do it however setting up their machines will take time which obviously they need to charge for although the forming doesn't take long making 5 and 10 shells similar in price. Currently Im considering something like a 6r4, an older 911 like tamiya used to make, or something completely different like a MAN lorry or transit van, etc Because i can't decide i was considering picking something others would like to see made as a shell so some could be sold off to help recover the costs, so id like to know what shells people on here would like to see made whether they are hard to find or just haven't been done yet.
  5. No i do not, i was aware of this and tried contacting them about it but didn't receive a reply back. However i have no intention of making money off their backs, Im just recovering the costs of fuel, materials, paint and welding resources etc of ones Im not keeping
  6. listed on ebay here http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=281120656652#ht_278wt_1170 . I designed and made as a present recently some pen holder pots based on the current Batman logo but had to order a minimum quantity so selling the remaining ones to get the costs back for them.
  7. How have you found it better? The 01 front arms are shorter so i would assume that gives it a slight disadvantage? I've also got an FF01 on its way now so would be fun to compare
  8. There's a BMX track in Rugby that looks good for buggies etc. It's on Butlers Leap road in the field by the river, not sure where to park but you're likely to need to wash your car after a visit as it's mud
  9. I found the track, only quickly drove by it but wasn't sure where to park. Looks good for getting cars covered easily so I may try it one day. I'm waiting on a few parts to arrive, gears and alloy motor mount so hopeully running again this week
  10. Haha, found it last night when looking for FF01's. Went straight in my watch list! Have you got any vid of it yet? Sounds a fun car
  11. I just had a read on your threads about it, how does it go with the higher gearing?
  12. Just broken the motor mount So an alloy one is on it's way now along with some spare spur and pinion sets as it chewed them up within a few metres. Also ordered some tyre foam inserts to see if it helps the handling and a set of tie rods to see if I can make some adjustable top arms to change the camber.
  13. But compared to buying the welding equipment for it it's probably alot cheaper. It does look very useful for fixing things quickly he he he
  14. I looked into that, I think the TL01 suspension arms have similar mounting measurements to the DT02 so might be possible to make a hybrid RR road/rally car and the gearbox is sealed from the dirt too. I couldn't find anything linked to the TL01B buggy arms and DT02 however these two look very similar sizes... http://www.fusionhobbies.com/product/wd056-gpm-tl-01b-wild-dagger-alloy-rear-lower-arms-x2 http://www.fusionhobbies.com/product/df2056-gpm-df-02-alloy-rear-lower-arm-x2 I did have a bit of a moment and forget about buggies .Do you have any pics of it? A 90's touring car body like a Volvo S40 on an FF is starting to win me over. Nice paint job there
  15. Just chewed up the spur and pinion on my TA02, that's me sat inside til the parts arrive

Not now lol. Plastic motor mount cracked where the screw holds it to the gearbox casing and few metres later chewed up so alloy one ordered to replace it

  16. I managed to find this buggy where the motor can be mounted in two different positions http://www.msuk-forum.co.uk/topic/157614-yokomo-b-max2-rs-kit-yokomo-b-max2-mr-kit/?hl=%2Bfront+%2Bmounted+%2Bmotor+%2Bbuggy .
  17. Have you had any issues on the belts? e.g. snapping or fraying?
  18. Like this? http://youtu.be/aiThO-UQIWE I think it's a clever idea as it seems fairly cheap ad good for hobby use to replace steel parts that are heavy. I've done a little bit of brazing on 1mm sheet steel before and enjoyed it, felt very much like a cross of soldering and TIG welding. Glad to hear there's progress
  19. I like those cars especially the 3rd one, looks mean. Sort of more automotive road based things such as most front wheel drive cars have the engine ahead of the diff centreline like the FF01 chassis does, and 911's and Beetle's have their engine dangling out the back behind the diff centreline as opposed to the motor being mid mounted between the diffs. I know about the FF01 (tempted to acquire one soon to match my TA02) but was interested in motors mounted behind the rear diff like a 911 to act similar to 1:1 road cars. Very nice! This was what I was thinking of, would match well with muscle cars. It wouldn't be this one would it? http://www.oople.com/forums/showthread.php?t=86091&highlight=front+mounted+motor&page=12 . It's kind of what started me off on my thoughts... I've done a little looking and come up with a rough idea that an FF01 front assembly could be turned around to make an RR layout which would give rather fun handling characteristics I should think...
