Liking those wheels, they look familiar, which ones are they? (last set you have on) @n_d_fox

Ive been really happy with them... suit most body styles. Decent weight to them as well... running zero weight in the rear wheels and only a tiny amount in the fronts now... had to run quite a bit with the Axial 8 holes.

Anyway, here a link to them - http://store.rc4wd.com/RC4WD-Raceline-Monster-19-Beadlock-Wheels_p_2791.html

Hacked the bed off... playing with fitment and ideas...

    Paint...

Added the bed back into the equation but with a doved tail and a few customer tweaks...

After the install of a GSpeed LCG chassis and a few other upgrades the Clod body no longer worked / fit so a change was needed... insert Jeep G6

  3. Cool build, i weirdly also really like to see the strip / build / maintain pics as well... i think over the time ive had my SCX10 its spent more time in bits, having bits changed or just been tinkered with than ive actually run it... need to change that !

Mine actually started life as the same green shelled Honcho you have here. I bought mine 2nd hand with a new bright disco shell but the Honcho shell was battered so it has never took the shape of the honcho during the years ive had it.

Currently running a G6 jeep shell and quite a different spec to how it started... as these always seem to ;)

  4. I agree the shells are expensive but i dont tend to replace them more than once every couple of years... certainly on the Slash, i think the current shell im running will be in tatters before i swap it for something else.

On my SCX10, ive probably gone through 4 bodies in 2-3 years but thats only because ive fancied a change and rather than buying a whole new rig, changing the shell has meant ive got a whole new look without the outlay

  5. I'll admit that i dont "play" with the Slash as much as i should do but i recently picked up the LCG chassis from Traxxas to reignite my love for the truck... it needs a rebuild and some love but its always put a huge smile on my face so im looking forward to tinkering and running it again.

At the point where i was running it alot and swapping parts i really hankered after the Anza lcg kit but never went for it. I reckon for the money the traxxas chassis is a complete bargain. If it turns out to be a bad move i havent lost much in terms of investment and considering ive worked my way through and replaced every other part but the tub and servo i reckon keeping at least 1 part traxxas is ok...lol

  6. Got the functional accessories added to the Jeep

    IMG_0393_zpsuth0lse9.jpg

Sand ladders, tree sver / toe ropes and land anchor

    IMG_0395_zpsujj595je.jpg

    Driver also arrived...

Meet Quentin... Its a Neca figure from Planet Horror which Tarantino played a part in... got him 2nd hand for £5 so no problem lopping his lower half off and fitting him in place. I've never seen the film and probably never will but i thought he suited the look of the truck.

    IMG_0409_zpswlvartxe.jpg

Servo posts turned up so they are in and solid... LEDs also arrived so need to do some soldering and get them installed next.

    Cheers, Nige

  7. Cheers guys...

Sorted a driver, finding something that suited the body (not that there is much of a theme) and wasnt overly expensive since i'm going to be cutting the lower half of the body off was a nightmare. Still, found something 2nd hand for around a fiver so if he looks as good as i hope in the drivers seat, job done.

Also waiting on some aluminium servo posts since the plastic ones are shot and keep coming loose. Oh and sorted some LEDs for the light pods ;)

  8. Spent a bit of time over the last few evenings getting the colours down and finishing up the body etc.

Went with a Tamiya metallic orange on the body with black for the interior, grille and arch flares. Also went over the black with a matte lacquer to tone it down.

    IMG_0380_zpsz80shumn.jpg

    Built and stickered up...

    IMG_0390_zpsfel6zmqa.jpg

Think i'll lower the rear body posts a click to level the body out a bit more... Need some LEDs for the light bar (might also do the headlights) and someone to drive. Got my sand ladders and anchor to mount on the cage as well.

  9. So the toe in on the pic wasnt as bad in the flesh but i wasnt 100% happy with the alignment up front so i played about with the centering on the servo and trim and the steering link and got it all dialed in nice and square.

    Anyway...

Body arrived and for a change i thought i would do a jeep ;)

    IMG_0378_zpsrxrn9bmw.jpg

Been refining the edges and masking up for paint for the past few days... started shooting colour today :D

Also, while lining up the shell and getting the height right ive gone back to body posts and clips to keep things light and simple. To get the rear end right without fouling the oil lines for the shocks i relocated the reservoirs

    IMG_0379_zpsgeetm6aj.jpg

More updates when the colours get sorted but in the mean time im building up the cage...

  10. Got the electrics in...

Used the stock radio box (which has been in the parts bin for years) to stash the Rx and BEC out the way

    IMG_0372_zpsrj4zlarn.jpg

    IMG_0373_zps2pbr7khw.jpg

With a winch controller, BEC, power cap, ESC, Rx and the associated wiring this is about as tidy as i can make it, which bugs me but short of ramming it all in a project box (which i dont have room for), thats as good as i can get it... im not a natural when it comes to wiring / soldering.

    IMG_0374_zps2vw76d3s.jpg

Next up, clean the body as its still filthy from the last outing, check it still fits right on this new chassis and then test :D

  11. Delrin skid and links... this piece is completely solid, im not sure what i was expecting to be honest but its awesome and much lower profile than the stock item

    IMG_0371_zpsb1ysv5xe.jpg

So thats it for now... only took me around 3 hours in total to go from stock to stripped then back to a roller.

Fit and finish are superb, really blown away by the quality of these GSpeed parts and how easy the conversion was.

Next is a bit of a re configure of the electrics and maybe a tweak to the rear bed of the body to clear the new shock hoops.

    Thanks, Nige

  12. There is a build thread on here somewhere of how ive taken my SCX10 from LR3 / stock chassis when i bought it to almost now but as this has been an almost complete strip down and rebuild effort I thought a new thread would be nice...

    So, we started with this

    12508847_10153463404628095_1564196483185

After an outing to Black Rocks in Derbyshire and the resulting breakages (dead servo and worn out lockers) I decided while i was making repairs some upgrades would be nice.

Parts I had to work with / bought in new for this rebuild

    Gspeed LCG chassis

    GSpeed flush skid

    Boomerang Type G shocks

Alumium trans case with HD gear set

    Junfac carbon steel shafts

    Home made alu links

    Stock axle cases

SSD CVDs, c-hubs, knuckles and steering links up front

Overdrive HD gears up front, stock gears out back

Hot Racing Lockers front and rear

Brass beef tubes front and rear

    Alu lock outs.

Tekin Hand Wound 30t pro motor

    Novak Eiger Pro ESC

    Novak 6v BEC

    Savox 1210sg servo

    Heyok winch controller

    3Racing winch (for now).

    Spektrum Rx

    RC4WD Monster 1.9s

    Pit Bull Rock Beasts

    CI Lil Nova foams

Phew... That's the first time I've made a list in one place and I hadn't realised just what was in this thing !
