  1. The pinions are 0.5mod, the same as the Associated RC18T pinions At a push you can use a 48dp pinion but it will sound a little noisey The difference between 0.5mod and 48dp is minimal but there IS a difference between them contrary to the belief of some Ive used 48dp on my GT14B and its fine, just sounds abit screechy lol
  2. You are not that far aware from Stockport are you Lee? They race micros there. Or just turn up to your local onroad club and get them to stick you in the bottom heat. Thats what I did although they dont like it if you start beating the bigger cars
  3. Sorry mate, didnt realise you were an electric newbie Gear up 2 teeth on the pinion if you can fit the bigger pinion in. The micro forum guys are better knowing to the exact gearing youll need but i would definately try 2 teeth up as a start. What ESC, motor and LiPos are you using?
  4. ID definately try gearing it up 2 teeth and seeing what happens mate. If its slow down the straight gear it up as most of the National racing Mini-8's arent that slow down the straight
  5. What a terrible article by RCSpecial. Only after the Losi Mini-8 was released did the scene grow? They obviously arent aware that the BRCA Micro National Championship has been running since 2007... RCSpecial werent aware of any other race micro scale offroader before the Mini-8, yet the hugely publicised Carisma GT14B, brought into the UK by one of the UK's biggest RC distributors (CML Distribution), has won both of the previous UKMicroX events and won the 2011 BRCA Micro National Championship title last week? And RCSpecial think that the Chunk was recently released? Even Hide noted that the Chunk has been out for over a year (18 months actually!) What does a chairman have to do to get some decent, and factually correct, publicity nowadays? LOL
  6. Dan, Ill take the brand new yellow rally blocks off you . Dont need wheels, just tyres please boss! Gimme your Paypal and ill hook you up the
  7. Dan, is the reason you are lacking on the straight but punchy elsewhere because your car is under geared maybe? Cris
  8. 48dp will fit, it will just sound like your scratching your nails down a chalk board The Associated RC18T pinions are 0.5mod, you should be able to order them from Trackside Spares who is the official shop of the BRCA Micro Nationals. Paul (owner of Trackside) knows his micro stuff http://www.tracksidespares.co.uk/ if you need him
  9. Firstly, thanks to Nick for allowing me to post this on the forum Now that I am only a week away from finishing my web design degree at university I am in a great position to be able to provide websites to small businesses, RC clubs and anyone who needs an easy to manage site that doesnt cost the earth. I've spent some time building a demo website for a fictional RC club called Tuffley RC Car Club to show a site in a context we can all relate to, and you can check the site out at this link: http://crisoxley.co....ortfolio/trccc/ All the colours and images you see within the light blue footer, the translucent background image and the white content area can all be customised to suit your requirements or to match your clubs own colours. I can provide logos and offer image editing if required to allow you to use as many of the fading image banners as you like on any page you choose, as well as the gallery which can contain as many albums as you would like. For those clubs who may wish to incorporate a forum for their members to discuss the clubs activities I can offer forum installation and setup, and can also arrange for website hosting for both your site and your forum where required. Even if you already have a website and your own hosting package you may find that your site is difficult to update, or that you have to pay a webmaster every time you want a simple news post updated. The Tuffley RC Car Club site allows you to add and amend pages, posts and links so that your web site content is always fresh and up to date without requiring you to pay a web design company every time you need an amendment or an update! The website I've linked above is only one example of the layout available to you. If you would prefer banners at the bottom and text at the top thats fine, I am more than happy to discuss your requirements to make sure that you get the site you really want rather than being forced into a site with a non-flexible template. I can also provide sites for small businesses who are looking to get an online presence to advertise themselves on the internet whilst using SEO (search engine optimisation) to help increase visits to your site and your ranking within search engines such as Google. If you are interested in discussing your requirements, or you know of a club or company that may need a website then please feel free to email me at [email protected] Thanks PS: Big thanks to Dan Osborne for allowing me to use his photos on my demo site
  10. Dan, is your front diff still tight with that oil in it? #Ineedthickoil!
  11. Hey, North/West London you have a small but great club in High Wycombe if that is of any use to you? We have raced Nationals before but unfortunately its a little too small for what we do now, but I do have fond memories of that place. http://www.google.co.uk/search?sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8&q=wycombe+micros#q=wycombe+micros&hl=en&safe=off&prmd=ivns&source=univ&tbm=vid&tbo=u&sa=X&ei=3tRKTqSaNIS7hAfCt4yfCA&ved=0CCcQqwQ&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.&fp=5f3dc1e46ba49558&biw=1680&bih=935 Hopefully that link works for you, if not just type "Wycombe Micros" into Google and look at the videos The trouble we find with the London region is that your clubs have to pay at least double what we do around the Midlands etc for hire of the hall. It really sucks because the Micro Nationals cant really generate enough money to cover London based clubs hall fees for an all day meeting and therefore smaller clubs are not often populated with micros. Hopefully Wycombe club is close to you though
  12. Always welcome Where abouts in London are you?
  13. For those of you who might have never seen these "little cars" racing here in the UK, have a look at the collection of photos and videos below from last weekends UKMicroX 2011 event Our little 1/16th scale race-spec micros can jump as high and as far as any 1/10th buggy, lap as fast, and attract some of the best offroad racers to our events Hope you enjoy them Cris Photos Dan Osbornes photos! 14. Talking of "a sight to see"... Photos and videos from last weekends UKMicroX 2011 event. Very similar in style to our BRCA Nationals. If anyone needs any information about the Micro Nationals please feel free to drop me an email at anytime [email protected] Photos Dan Osbornes photos! John Howe's photos! 16. I was lucky enough to give away the only one of these RTR's in the UK at the moment at last weekends UKMicroX raffle. And yes..it does look that lush in the flesh as it does in the pics
  17. Thanks for the replies guys. So educate me....does the MERV need the 2 LiPo packs to run or is that just a power/bashing thing? Does anyone here own one of the Rally cars? If so, do you think they could cope on something like a 1/10th offroad carpet track? As for costing the same as a RTR B4.1, yes probably, but the overall costs over a year/season would probably be a lot cheaper with a micro compared to 1/10th offroad. Thanks for the replies though fellas, please keep them coming and feel free to let me know any more information (such as potential 14.4v requirement) that you think might be useful whilst im researching all this
  18. Posting this with my BRCA Chairman hat on, for the record Do any of you guys currently race your MERV's/Traxxas micros (Slash/Rally/etc) indoors (carpet/mixed surface etc)?? If so, great! How do the cars get on under race conditions and do you get many guys at your local clubs per week racing these bigger micros? If not, would you ever consider doing so? If you own a Traxxas offroad micro and would consider racing your car at some point in the future, be it a one-off event or (very relaxed and friendly) National Series) I really need to hear from you PM me here or email me direct. Im trying to gauge numbers for some hypothetical(?) ideas for the future. Cris Oxley BRCA Micro Chairman [email protected]

  21. I see lots of threads about Micro-T's, but not a huge amount of talk about racing micro's here on MSUK. Are there any micro racers here? Or anyone tempted to start racing their micro's? If so, what do you have? Where do you race? And if you dont race but fancy having a go..where are ya from
