  1. DO u know what impedance the head unit can handle ? What impedance the speakers are ?

Other option would be a crossover, though have no idea how they would fair with ur active sub.

The question is do we know to much about this ! When i had my first car, I just bridged the speaker and it caused no problem to the old Panasonic head unit in it......now i think impedance !

  2. right i've got to get my daughter a new laptop as i broke her old one :( i've only got about £500 to play with due to the wife wanting a new car.so what what be a good one to get she only has it for her homework & art.she don't play games so it ain't gotta be great for that and if i could get one from comets that would be even better as i got a mate who there so i get a nice discount :D any idea's would be a big help as i ain't got clue about p.c's

    thanks

The stumbling bloke is the art part of what she uses it for....ideally you want lots of RAM, and ideally quick processor / fast FSB so an Intel chip, at least 1 gig ram. Having a lower spec machine won't stop her using graphics packages at all, just make them a little bit slower (I mess about with photoshop, so don't have a high spec machine, as quite happy to wait an extra second here or their)

What does she use it for / want to use it for in terms of "art."As if this isn't really a factor, any of the cheap laptops are fine for everyday use. The important factors in my mind is, ability to replace battery, good warranty. I am still using a Sony laptop which is a PII 400 with 128mb ram with windows 98....fine for internet / word some photoshop.

Dell do the Inspiron 1501 for £350 ( http://www.dell.co.uk/ ) Don't be fooled by dell telling you are only under warranty for 90 days standard uk sales of goods apply for 1 year (but does not include software screw ups...i.e u get a virus) 2 year warranty £71 (I don't work for dell :))

The comet ones start off at £400....

  3. Try playing with vlookups embedded with H lookups they are fun..... or my personnel favourite, identifying duplicates in a column using a recursive count function.

  6. The damaged parts - 1 wishbone is slightly damaged, but have left on for moment. Good fun rebuilding it, really easy to work on, well done Traxxas.

  7. After my recent accident - Revo V Curb - Topic I have been looking for spare parts, and this is what my cost is:

    List Price - £38.25

    Modelsport - £29.39

    ebay us seller - £14.94

    US shop - £24.87

All these prices are ex postage. The ebay sale would be ok for import duty, but I may incur cost with the shop.

I know our tax is 17.5% v 5% but, still that doesn't account for the extra cost we incur!

Anyone have any recommendations for cheap parts suppliers ?

Anyone brought from 'rcmaxpower' on ebay ?

    Ta !

  8. Normally it has no problem with curbs..... except this one was a little larger....

    DSC72.JPG

Ironically enough, I was using the curb to do somersaults with earlier, must of p'sed off the curb....and it bit back

  9. Thanks for the replies, I was er going flat out, and the road I was aiming got too narrow....well that's what I keep telling myself :)

I've not started pricing things up yet, get paid on Tue, so will do it then :) The chassis is slighly bent up, which I can straighten. The servos / diff appears to have survived, so v lucky.

The parts I will need looks like :

the plastic part that holds the diff, also the wishbones link into this part

    Wishbone pivot pin

the small piece of metal that was a skid plate I assume

1 parts that the servo link to in the middle to turn the wheels

Possibly 1 rocker, if I can't drill out a screw that sheared.

Think I will start looking through the exploded diagrams over a pint tonight to ease the pain :)

  10. If it still has the reverse gear, order yourself a forward only kit, for when the reverse gear gets shredded ! Mine has gone and now having to wait for kit to be delivered....

dum dee dum - what to do.....

  11. I have been trying to tune my Revo 3.3, and have not had much success. I have seen videos where the Revo, when accelerating, the front wheels always lifts off the ground. Mine may lift 1 if I am cornering, but never both if in a straight line. I am tuning the highspeed to what I think is where I don't notice any performance increase, check the low speed and do the Traxxas pinch test, and it always cuts out in about 3 seconds, ergo no need to tune LSN.

This last time, the car died, and would not start again. Glow plug had died (which I will accept after 10 or so tanks on new engine) but also I think the reverse gear has done something nasty (Clicking from gearbox, as I don't think it has a centre diff). I will be taking apart over xmas and if it is order the forward conversion. Either have reset tuning to factory as am paranoid about over leaning.

I have read loads about the Optdrive and reverse gear been crap, so why do they still bother with it...or is it a way of making an extra tenner !

rant over..... time to take gear box apart - replace - repair - and re tune......

    Have a great christmas all

  12. Just another addition...

I had real problems with locking at TDC, (Traxxas Revo 3.3) not flooding. I gave up for day and followed after run procedure (squirt of WD40). The WD40 then allowed the engine to start easily next time, and break in procedure.

When you get a new car, you should squirt some wd40 in, turn it over with glow plug out ( makes sure the WD40 doesn't hydro lock the engine)

I haven't suffered a lock at TDC since, and now on tank 10 or so.

  13. dont be in any hurry to lean it out too soon.. ( I am talking from experience.. :whistling: )

    rofl

I tried starting to lean it a little yesterday, didn't have the manual with me, and was getting worried it wasn't getting quicker.

You guessed it, was making the fuel richer....did i feel like an idiot :) Drank a tank of fuel rather quickly !

  14. what you are saying is wrong traxxas break in instructions do not include idle tanks you start off with 25% throttle not 50% just follow the break in instructions and it will be fine when i broke mine in it struggled to pull away at 25% throttle as the engine is new its running rich and 25% throttle is not alot

    Cheers,

Up to my 4th tank now, and ran out of space for the 5th.....The engine is feeling so much looser !!

  15. Hi,

I finally got a Revo 3.3, much as I wanted to build a savage, the Revo was soo much cheaper and appears to be a better Monster in the views of people on this board.

I've had loadsa problems getting it started. Now I have started it, it appears to struggle to pull off from standstill. When trying to do the break in procedure, if I pull the trigger to 25% it often won't pull off, but if I increase the trigger to 50% it pulls off ok.

I spoke to the support guys, and they reckon i just need to follow the break in procedure

What do you guys think ?

    Thanks

  16. Hi,

I am a little confused, I thought the Optidrive provided a failsafe for battery / radio reception, but I have been reading that I need an aftermarket failsafe !? If I need one, do I need a special kind, or do any work ?

    Thanks
