  1. Finally got the pictures as Bobby has been really busy. Big update to come!
  2. Also talking about stripping the interior I need to get the back seats out of the car soon to replace the rear speakers as the previous owner blew them and just left them in there so actually getting some out of the rear would be nice but I hear the rear seats are tricky to remove,
  3. Well it's going back to Bob this coming week so I will suggest those too him. I didn't even think about the rear 1/4 glass leaking, the rear glass itself I had a new seal put on it 2 days after buying the car so I know that's perfect now, but that 1/4 has got me thinking!
  4. So does anyone own a KM evo baja? Just would like to hear some feedback

The warranty is for all the electrics IIRC... IMO, the most logical route if you do buy one, is to hammer the hell out of it for those 30 days, not necessarily on 8s, but just use it as much as you can, if the electrics survive perfectly, chances are they'll last a while (in theory) if they go pop, they're still under warranty, and if they go pop after the warranty, you've still had a lot of fun in those 30 days and have an already converted 5B base for a Castle system... Not sure...

That kind of my reasoning really, the overall cost of the conversion (plus time and effort) would work to about the same as the RTR.

Well if you went down the route of a KM, what you'd get for the bits you'd sell, wouldn't be a particularly huge amount, so it would work out quite a bit more (it's something I'm currently looking into)

  5. Ignore the drips on brace, that is just from water dripping off the boot lid into the boot, its that little run of water in the background down the strut.
  6. That would make more sense, in regards to a gasket, as Bobby has completely re-done the channel/guttering as that was sealed badly and rusted, so it can't be that so I would hedge my bets it the gasket. However, if its a gasket at the top of the strut, how is water when it rains getting to the top in the first place? As its when the car is stationary it pools. I have a photo of the drip somewhere I will upload it.
  7. Thanks bud but that's been done, the leak is actually more unusual. A run of water coming from the right rear suspension strut and pooling at the top right of the boot, nowhere near the lights.
  8. Just some pictures of the stereo change:- Before After Also some pictures of the blown speakers.
  9. Sorry everyone I actually have the car back now. The bodyshop that did the work, as promised took lots of pictures but as they are so busy haven't been able to send me any of them yet so I don't have any for you all. But I will get them up as soon as I do as the work they have done is brilliant! Now in regards to the boot, they have made it look better than brand new and assure me that rust will not be issue around that area anymore, which leads to another problem, the leak they thought they had sorted actually hasn't been. The day after I collected it, it rained very hard and the boot filled with water, now this made me both sad and happy. Sad because it was leaking after treatment that was meant to stop it and happy because it was only a day after I picked it up meaning I could get it sorted asap. A quick text and Bobby was very apologetic and is picking up the car this week to have a second stab at the boot that I am sure he will sort But in the mean time I have been taking the dash and door cards out to replace the terrible and broken speakers and awful head-unit. Although I am unsure what speakers to fit now if anyone could give me a suggestion? I wouldn't want to cut the doors so co-ax speakers is a must.
  10. Seeing as the previous weekend was so nice I decided to give my car a clean and take it out (whilst I can before it goes back for more rust work). I think she cleans up nicely for a 20 year old car!
  11. OK I give in, I need another petrol

Always thought the massive engines didn't look very fun, seem to roll over a lot and just wheelie too much, personal taste dictates of course... Unless it's in a 5ive, they seem to suit that platform best.

I didn't loose Interest I just spent all of my money on buying my skyline. Got the spare money again now so I am tempted.

Also the 70's do look silly, I have never used it I just bought it because it was so cheap at the time and I couldn't leave it. May not even use it still.

  12. Yeah I do love the 5ives, but over the time I owned it and enjoyed it I never really felt that excited about it because it was so easy to control. That's just a very standard reaction that most people have with a 5ive. The thing that is keeping me umming and arrring so to say is the fact that BL may actually make the 5ive more interesting to drive. But as they are still quite uncommon it's unlikely I will come across someone with one to have a go and find out for myself.
  13. It's all in good fun I keep watching videos and looking at my old pictures and due to the weather outside at the moment being a real factor I would love to get a 1/5 BL on the go I just can't make my mind up between a 5ive and a Baja
  14. news nju?z/ noun newly received or noteworthy information, especially about recent events. "I've got some good news for you" Definition for news is specifically that it is newly received, making it not being new very relevant
  15. Update from the garage:- Jay is making great progress Nick, found a previous repair which we believe was the reason your boot was leaking buddy and hence the rusted holes. Have lots of good pics of the work in progress for you! Bob
  16. Totally agree, it was nice to see people who really love the car, see something that is frankly quite rare to see on the road and then appreciate it. It's funny my wife said when I got the car:- "You had better not be buying this car to get lots of attention from Women" To which I laughed at her and said that when it comes to cars, guys like to show off to other guys about them. I still don' think she believes me
  17. Another little funny story (whilst we wait for the rust pictures to appear) On the way to a meeting yesterday morning before I took the car to the body-shop there was a Corsa in front of me in a line of traffic, waiting for a set of lights to change. Again full of guys, a bit younger this time but on the back of the car was a RIP Paul Walker sticker so I imagine they liked the F&F movies, they also hadn't looked in their mirrors once so I know they hadn't seen me. So as we pulled away at the lights it splits into 3 lanes from a 30 to a national limit so I overtook them and their jaws dropped, I wasn't even going fast but it's just the looks on their faces that made me laugh
  18. When I have it back next week I will if you want dude
  19. Agreed but I do like the attention when people aren't trying to race me. Getting people who you wouldn't expect to like cars looking at it for ages and saying...nice Skyline, is always nicely surprising
  20. Thanks dude, it's not a car for everyone but I hate people that buy something that has a bit of presence and then think they are the king of the road. Not to say I don't like the occasional hard acceloration because I do, it's addictive but it's never anything as idiotic as the M3 guys were. M3's are very nice cars but more and more I see the older ones driven by people who frankly shouldn't still have their licences. Photo's will be uploaded the second I get them
  21. GTR is back on the road yay! Straight to the bodyshop to have the rust sorted Boo :P

'Just the boot area', lol ;)

Isn't the strut top more important?

      Feedtheinferno

If it was structural yes, but my tops are very minimal at the moment, so they can wait. Where as the boot is leaking and creating damp in the car so the focus is set on making it water tight :)

      Now that makes sense!

Not so green as you're cabbage looking, Mr Inferno :)

  22. A little update before the real updates come in, the car was dropped off at the bodyshop yesterday and over the course of the week I will be updating the thread with photo's of the rust removal progress. On a side note, I love driving the GTR, but man does it attract a lot of penises. I was driving on the M4 on Monday in the middle lane at 70 giving it a shake down run after almost 6 months of standing, in the fast lane comes a 54 plate M3 with 4 Indian blokes in, blacked out windows, tacky non standard angel headlights and totally matt black, I am sure you get the picture. The first thing that I notice is they slow as they come up along side me and put their windows down, followed by keeping along side me and then revving up and shooting off (as much as an old M3 can we 4 guys in it), but then braking to get back down to my speed as I am not rising to the challenge. Bare in mind they are in the fast lane going 70 and they keep braking, so people behind them are obviously getting annoyed and they won't give up trying to get me to race them. They pull in behind me and keep practically flat against my bumper for about 5 miles before getting bored and then driving off. Even if I had been inclined to embarrass them it would have been pointless for a number of reasons:- 1) They were filming me so erm no not speeding on camera 2) Why should I waste the fuel on these plebs? 3) I have nothing to prove in a tuned R33 GTR, I know mines faster, especially with their car having 4 fat blokes in it. 4) I can't see the point of rising to a drag race on public roads, if the dumb-asses want to race, go to a drag strip or track.
  23. Th exhaust won't be doing anything to help the power of the car either so I would recommend budgeting in a replacement first off.
