I watched this and thought it was excellent.
I disagree about the reasons he did not make it as any team would of taken him with that talent.
He was a sponsors nightmare and didn't seem to be the guy who would be happy with doing all of the "corporate events" and such that teams must do to get funded. What was the line he said to the McLaren team boss when he beat Laudas time? Something along the lines of "shoving a cucumber........."
Fair enough he was quick but if you're looking for a drive that's not how to do it.
I agree with @Smoothybb on the funding at the early stages. Ive done karting for a few years now and its damn tricky to keep up with the Joneses as they say. I had an ex-euro engine last season for instance which was phenomenal, but they released new "EVO" parts at the start of 2016 and every new engine was better. It also wiped out all of the "selected" equipment i had built up over the past few years as the new bits were just better. This year so far i can already count 3k+ on engines, getting them fitted with new barrells, all of the new ancillaries you have to run to be competitive and a newer chassis, and even thats still a couple of years old!
I think if you have the money to make it to cars yourself, your talent will show through and you will get places. But not many can afford that sadly...
