  1. If it was a complete kit I would have one but I don't know what else is needed.

I agree with mini-z just pick up a MVP 3 and a Aspire mini nautilus and some nice juice and that's all you need really.

  2. The most useful tool is a swash-plate leveler, it takes out a lot of the guess work, Leveling the swash-plate correctly is probably one of the most important aspects to setting up a heli, it makes the difference between one that will hover nicely or one which will either never get off the ground (or if it does then it will usually be followed by a crash fairly quickly) Also level and balance the main blades. Its useful if your new to set some extra expo in the TX as well as it will make it a bit less sensitive on the control inputs. I have a blade 400 and dxi - not flown it for about a year now though, it takes a huge amount of patience to learn to fly these, so take very small steps. It is worth putting in the time as when you can hover it for a whole battery you will feel like a pilot god!

  3. Interesting read that phil. I really like my mvp, but the switch does let it down as it is way to stiff and just doesn't feel very nice. I must admit I do like the look of that esp, I am a sucker for carbon fibre as well though!

  4. i think he can glide a fair bit with that wing. so he might be on and off the power a lot.  as i know some RC jets need full power just to keep them up in the air. and are very poor at gliding.  as for weight i think he gets dropped from a plane or heli.  but it would be good to see him take off from a runway with a little set of wheels under him.  lol

They couldn't take off from a runway as the wing needs a lot of speed to create lift because of there tiny size, which is why they jump out of a helicopter and free fall to gain speed to gain lift..then they power up the jets to keep it at that speed where the wing is making enough lift to keep them in the air- but only just I would think. The flights only last around 15 minutes as I suspect they just can't gain altitude very easily, so eventually they run out of sky and have to land.

  5. Can't believe how strong those little magnets are, only 4mm in diameter I think I got, but by god they have some power- I'm really careful not to put them near my pc or phone as I'm sure they will wipe all the data off them!

  6. Eventually managed to make a start on building my first box mod. started to chop up the Burr wood trinket box I brought off e-bay. Not an easy process with a junior hack saw! and actually a bit of a headache figuring out where to cut it to create a smaller box...and I'm no carpenter that's for sure!

ended up with this...obviously pretty rough still, but I have a dremel and plenty of sandpaper. I though it would actually be really nice to use either an aluminium plate or brass plate for the final side, I can mount the firing button on it and also possibly have the USB charging port there as well

also started on the electronics, got the resister wired on the mosfet and also soldered up some cables to it:

thats about it for the moment, here's a few picks of the unfinished box next to my MVP for size comparison..It will end up a bit thinner after I neaten up the cut sides a bit

I will add an update if anyone's interested when I have done more

  7. Rusty1103 I have a mini nautilus, just don't do the base part up to tight- just tighten until snug, it will still seal properly. Theres no need to tighten in up loads.

  8. Got a few .177 blow back co2 BB pistols, that I plink at cans in the garden..

A pair of Tangfolio Witness's. I polished a lot of the parts, so they are sort of a reverse matched pair. Great fun dual wielding, those bean tins don't stand a chance  :xd:

Also have a GSG92 which is an awesome thing, I have also got a mini laser dot sight for it for a laugh. since this picture was taken it also has a few polished parts as well.

I used to have an HW95k but the misses made me get rid of it  :sly: she doesn't know I've got the BB guns hiding in my wardrobe still  :whistling:

  9. Thanks for the link will have a look. I've still not decided on a dual parallel or just doing a single- I'm thinking something nice and small so may go with the single, which means I would have to chop the box up quite a bit to get the size I want. As you say until I have it all in front of me I'm not sure what the plan is exactly. I was also toying with the idea of adding a mini usb charging board, but think I may leave that for the moment seeing as it's my first build. I will order all my components today hopefully. Oh I got my mini subtank through yesterday- it's pretty awesome- i've only played around with it much and still trying to suss the ideal wattage to put through it.

  10. yes iam using a mosfet i have the same one in all the box`s ive made here it is

i also found a guy on ebay selling them so i bought two of them and i have one in my dna box and it seems as good as the ones above

ooooooooohhhhhhhhh a wooden box i want to try and do one of them soon nothing like a good bit off wood in your hand lol

Yes that's the one i'll use...I got a couple of nice boxes as they were mega cheap- I will cut them up and rebuild them into a suitable sized housings, I will refinish the wood with laquer once done.- I thought I may as well buy enough components to make 2 mods. I've still yet to get a couple of 18650 batteries - any recommendations?

Here are the boxes I got- I love the burr wood, should look really nice.

  11. My coils always seem to read slightly different than the coil manufacturers claims as well on my mvp 3 the 1.8's I use show up as 2.0ohm. I don't think it's the mvp reading it wrong, I assume that during the manufacturing process, coils probably vary a bit. I'm guessing it's very difficult to make them consistently at the same ohm rating all the time.

You got the best colour mvp as well

  12. mini-z-awd - Are you using mosfet's in your mod box builds? I have been doing a bit of research on building and think I'm going to have a go at a single 18650 build. I have brought a lovely old burr wood trinket box off ebay, which I'm planning to hack up and use for the enclosure, as there's nothing like jumping in at the deep end!

  13. As I mentioned in my post earlier, I'm pretty new to all this but my MVP 3.0 is a great bit of kit, the battery lasts about 3 days before charging and the build quality is superb- the thing is like a tank!
