  1. Thanks for the info. I think I would go with the EZRun out of the two motors, and probably buy the high capacity lipo since 25 quid isn't too bad for a battery. Unless anyone strongly disagrees that is. Just tried my car out, about a minutes runtime from some (left discharged) 3000 NiMH batteries! Gonna try and cycle them a bit this afternoon Was fun for the minute though. Not planning to race so it should do fine! Edit: Anyone got any of the stuff I'm after second hand or can suggest a place to look to save some money? I don't mind second hand stuff at all.
  2. Excellent stuff. That battery, charger and motor/esc combo looks better value & performance Nice one. The RC10B3 uses hex drive screws, I found one of my hex screwdrivers which fortunately fits these screws so I might not need to buy a set. I'll probably use a car battery to save the 20 quid on the power supply (I have 2 spare car batteries so no problem there). Charger, 25.50. Battery, 25.00. Motor/esc, 90 quid (presumably this is better then the earlier one , costs about the same but I think 8.5t is better then 10.5t for this buggy). I'll keep my radio stuff and servo for now.
  3. Thanks for the reply - just a couple of things: Is the radio upgrade to 2.4ghz really necessary? Does it have more range or use less batteries then a 27mhz one? Also I would want a traditional one with 2 sticks rather then a trigger type. How come the battery and charger connections have changed? I have the white tamiya ones, the parts you listed use a new red connector- what's it called ? Thanks The motor and ESC combo seems cheap but the batteries and charger less so. Any chance I can save some money on those? Delivery before xmas is not crucial if I can save money. Would I need a new pinion gear for that motor? How can I buy the basic tools I might need since I seem to have misplaced a few of my old tools... Cheers
  4. Hi All After my first thread was so helpfully answered I went for a dig around and found my 2 rolling rc10b3 chassis. I figure since I already have 2 rc10b3 chassis (bought second hand) why spend 250 on a RTR RC10B4? Why not upgrade my existing car? So here's the idea. I've got an ESC, modified brushed motor (bit dodgy, 15Q or something like that) and some 3000mah nimh batteries. I'd like to upgrade to a brushless motor, I'll need a new speed controller (presumably), and a better steering servo (futaba receiver at the moment). If you advise me to go 2.4ghz and it doesn't cost too much, I'll do that too. My budget is flexible but I'd like to keep it fairly cheap, best bang for buck would be great. Clearly I should get some lipo action going on too. Last thing, I don't know where to mail order from, and I ideally want to order today to get delivery before christmas with any luck! All suggestions welcome To summarise; upgrade RC10B3 with new speed controller, brushless motor, servo, radio set (maybe), lipo batteries (2) and lipo charger (mains powered if possible otherwise 12v if cheaper!). What should I buy? Thanks Zoea
  5. Hi all I prefer buggy but maybe truck is ok, and my budget (including batteries and esc/servo but excluding 2 channel radio and receiver) is about 300 quid.
  6. Hi All Just registered yesterday. Somewhere in a garage I have a mardave cobra and an rc10b3 (or 2) hanging around. Thinking about getting back into the hobby - love the building part! Can anyone suggest a cheap good kit (electric please!)? Thanks
