cheers for your input brains, got a reply back from msuk, i just dont know what to do lol, its none of the below reasons tho 😞
Hello
If you are damaging the teeth then this would usually be either incorrect meshing, or it could be dirt which has got between the gears.
If you are burning the centre's out then this would be due to the clutch slipping too much, incorrect setting, not enough tension on the spring.
We would also advise checking that the tyres do not have any water in them as often this will add additional load on to the transmission, and check that none of the bearings have failed on the prop, motor shaft.
Because you are using 3s batteries Traxxas do not suggest that the centre diff is used, so that would not be an option.
In all honesty we very rarely see any issues with the standard part, "spur" and would not usually suggest a metal spur gear. -
id say so, use the paper technique like i all ways have done 😞
-
ive got the traxxal ali mount so not that, also got the e-revo slipper clutch so not that either, my 2 options im thinking of is upgraded spur to metal along with upgraded diffs or center diff with upgraded diffs, running 10/54 gearing also
also never bash it lately, only run in the community center on concrete (no jumps at all) so im just baffled
-
no matter how perfect i get the gear mesh im still chewing through spurs like mad, im running rustler 4x4 vxl 3s with pro line trencher 2.8's, had enough of it, am i right thinking a center diff instead of a slipper will help with this problem?

wow has adding pics to a post been removed? i have no option to add pics no more

had 2 runs out now, one at the forest and one at the community center, both runs without breaks.....things seem good, and for now the weak links are at bay.....quite thankful really, as it was seeming every run something was breaking

just ordered drivers, not going to mess around with this screw any more till they arrive, if they can get them out nice....if not dremel time....yay .....

yep defo investing in some decent hex drivers for my next buy, one stripped pinion grub and one stripped on the end of the slipper that goes into the middle alu shaft, verry annoyed, only way i can see now is to dremel these off and make a loss and hope not to damage the motor.....grhhhh 😞
i had eds tools years ago with my erevo, they were decent -

Funny you mention the motor mount, took it out today and I was thinking the gear might go as no matter how much I got a perfect mesh the motor all ways moved when I tightened it up and does not seem to get tight like the plastic thread has gone kind of in the motor mount, so I’m biting the bullet and getting this in blue as it’s the only decent one I can find in the uk, I’d love green but if I have to sacrifice Color for performance than so be it
-
hey mate, yeah ive not had any problems with the plastic motor mounts, ive stayed clear as i heard the alu ones are weak and can bend? not from your experience then? green mounts would look lovely on my build lol, not sure how i feel about the spur and pinion being open like that tho? with that gpm mount
Edit, ahh im thinking of shock tower mounts, think it may of been the 1st time ive seen this upgraded motor mount, thank you mate! btw have u tried the alu shock tower mounts? thats what i was thinking can bend easy not the motor mount -
-
Ahh not sure about that when I get a new can I will be getting a green one that’s for sure, will wait to either my esc or motor blows to justify that buy to the mrs
-
im currently running 15/54 but motor gets so hot, this will be even worse when i get bigger wheels, so if i went to 10/54 gearing that would give me less speed right? what gearing would you suggest with big tyres
-
tempted to get this heat sink annodised in green for when i get my new tyres, would look so good, any one got any pointers for companies that do annodising?

yeh the feeling of finding the problem is so pleasing, ordered a stock spur and i feel like 11t pinion for a bit of a change, both ordered 🙂
