So here is my damage for today...
After all of the hassle I had with my paint job, this happened. I never had it moving, this was when I was trying to start the car.
It was being a pain as I had not started it since it had its first tanks last week, my carbs are still set to the old settings so it needed a few more pulls to get started. It was also the first time I tried starting it with the shell on and this shattered as the pull start slipped out of my hand.
I did notice the shell start to split the first time the handle slipped but the second time this happened the body shell shattered in to 3 pieces. Seriously not happy with that.
Was nice to see you at the field again, i saw the disappointment on your face when that happened all the hard work shattered.

Thanks mate, It's not the first one I've done but the first one I did was only 2 weeks ago and this was my second attempt. Really pleased with it in day light. I think I'm getting the shell painting bug
haha i was thinking that but im into racing now and some paint jobs are very nice i can't match up to some of them so my next shell will be done professionally
-
had a bit of a blast over the park...bust the shell, broke both rear body posts and lost a wheel nut, pin and hex
Only suffered light damage then got away lucky there
-
OUCH ! hope you get it sorted soon man !
Thats some big crash mate!

Nah sorry! It got cleaned up as soon as I got home.
Today I messed the Storm up bad. A sapling jumped out on it whilst at full pelt. Result: Snapped front bulkhead and bent turnbuckle. There's pics over in the Firestorm thread of the damage.
Ouch mate that's not good can you post a link to firestorm thread ? good to clean your car so fast lol

Great read (again) mate, can't wait to see it with the shell on.
Did you get many admirers when you went to NDOR? Or were they too busy spitting in your kit box with envy? lol
haha there was one guy didn't catch his name which jump straight in to tell me what to change and modify as had been racing a JQ for a year 2 people said they liked my shell and there was another guy down there with a JQ so i'm joining there crew i think to get the wow factor i'd need something like a Team Durango DNX408 i love the JQ though so responsive, im leaving stock settings on it and working changes in bit by bit as i get used to the way it handles
-
looks incredible mate, your should be proud, how you getting on with the engine now?

OK after thinking all about 2 seconds to figure out a name for this blog post with out trying to sound like I am stealing all the words from THE man himself (JQ) I will begin my explanation of The Build. Firstly need to apologise for the poor quality pictures really wanted to get cracking on this build and every now and then I thought oh yeah need to take a picture. With the only camera being close by on the back of my HTC desire.
Opening up the box I see a huge pile of parts and I am thinking oh boy what have I got myself into now, the last car I actually built from scratch was my first electric car some odd 14 years ago, that

Took it down the (damp) park. Tried as hard as I could to do donuts in the mud and wet grass but the Badlands just grip too well!!
got any pics of what the after math looks like lol

i ment to say shouldn't be a problem not should what bits do you need ?

Finished painted the shell for my hyper 9.
A rather interesting choice of colours but that's what happens when your new to painting and buy online
Just need to sort the colour for the white wing now
lol.
Thats a brill paint job for your first time! - i rushed my first paint job put the paint on too thick

Thanks mate, it has been one hell of a transformation. It always felt like the car was somebody elses (well it was 2nd hand anyway) but now I have my stamp on it, it is truly my own.
As you may have seen, shell has been a right mare. I'm liking the Banksy-esque motif at the moment, if it does not go on the car then I may use it as a sig? may have the tag line "Make Doughnuts not War"
I can't wait to see the JQ mate, never having seen one before I am very intrigued to see what's inside them.
Cheers mate, It would have been dirty today but rained ceased play. I was ready for an outing
having built it from scratch and the work you put in you know every single part and own everything physically and mentally ive posted pics on rc4me will stick some on here as well the power in the alpha engine is outstanding and im still running it rich till its bedded in.

When I bought it i didnt really know much about them at all, I never intended to drive it in too trees and such, but it hasnt done it any harm. the beauty of it is that if anything does bend or break all the parts are easily available and standard stuff is suprisingly cheap. To fully apreciate how well built they are you really need to handle one I guess, tho i cant compare it to anything else. I bought one with the intention of racing it if I enjoyed the hobby enough and bashing (more thashing, less bashing intended) to start with. I only based my purchase on what I saw in videos, and I really honestly feel that I got it right, on many levels.
There are allot of models out there that fit all different driving styles and intentions you based your purchase on your research very well losi are among the top manufacturers and the car you got y the sounds of it is fit for bashing/thrashing and racing when your ready for that step

Well I have been thinking and decided that their is just too much white and it needs some more decals so I knocked this up in gimp... Still a work in progress
Just needs a little more work to soften the edges and I have just remembered that the butterflies need eroding. Still, gotta go out now, will do some more later
nice decal
This is an awesome read you really have gone back to basics and started from scratch its a shame couldn't go out today would of been nice to look at it in the flesh ill bring my new toy for you to have a look at next week won't be bashing it though
-
yeah, smartech, hsp & himoto are the same ****. Really bad cars tbh.
too true
-
It has many parts the same as my old smartech speedy tiger buggy. Swear its a truck version of it.
My guess is it shares parts with allot of other models like himoto and hsp there all pretty much the same, so finding parts should be a problem
-
now, this takes me back. its a korean model i think. i had an electric tc car given to me by a friend and i did some research... and here we are today.

Ive got a losi 8ight 2.0 rtr as my first purchace into nitro AND buggies so I cant really compare it to anything else but Im well chuffed with it. It had a couple of faults with it when I got it, some of the leads in the receiver were plugged in the wrong way round and the wheels were loose, and after 3 weeks the throttle servo packed up, so in the whole scheme of things its been pretty darn good concidering ive spanked a kerb VERY hard in the ice and hit afew trees sending it into a crazy roll/spin/twist with double loop, and the worst thing that happened was i bent my shiny new integy bumper on the kerb and adjusted the tracking slightly, NOTHING has ever broken or come loose and it still goes as straight as a die (after adjustment). I cant fault it and I dont think I could ever find a reason to buy anything esle, im just going to keep upgrading this one, not that it really needs it, I just want too.
Losi's are mostly used for racing so its interesting to find out what its like used as a bashing model i'd personally not recommend bashing a racing model because thats not what there designed for, as its a rtr i suspect it will be built more towards the bashing side of things. Good to know its stood up to the abuse and is asking for more lol
