The way a tuned pipe works, getting hotter isn't likely. It's job is to use the pressure waves from exhaust pulses to push mixture back into the combustion chamber that would otherwise be lost when the exhaust port opens and the transfer ports send mixture in.

More likely is the fact that your engine is hotter due to the increased ambient temperatures, and the specfics of the weather affecting the finer poitns of a tune.

Do you normally temp test your pipe? I never do. Touch it...think wow....HOT and check it. But what is it's 'normal' temp?

Thanks for replies guys.  I couldn't touch the pipe on my ST , I did accidentally the other night and burnt myself lol

  2. I broke a hex last night one the warlocks I have on my ST, looking for 1 replacement , thought somebody might have an odd wheel sitting around they might sell.

This is the wheel I need, 17mm hex.  Would take 2 if youll only sell a pair.

  3. Although the weathers been fairly warm recently, Ive noticed my JP3 exhaust on my lrp .28 is roasting hot, it was near 200F at some points - real burn your finger stuff!

I was giving the car quite a hard time and on thick grass so it was working hard.  Would a more standard exhaust reduce temps - just thinking about what might keep the engine cooler.

  4. Fixed my hyper St in about 5 mins flat after a slight crash last night lol.

These Hobao cars are definately robust - I hit a log at a fair speed and one of the bottom front suspension arms detached ... I thought uh oh theres going to be snapped pieces needing replaced here.

All I need to do was bend the pin that goes though the suspension arm straight again and reinstall it, job done! Couldnt believe it lol

  5. Hi Folks

I just got an Nx86 charger with variable outputs.  What Id like to know is what is a safe charging rate for the 6v hump packs in my cars, and also the 8 AA batteries in my TX?

I have it on 1 Amp at the moment as thats what my old charger ran at all the time - is it safe to use a faster charge?

Having another crack at getting the first tank idled through it tomorrow morning at the track.

My glow starter died just as it started to 'catch' and run by itself, only needed another ten seconds of power and she'd have run!

Is it super tight like a Picco ?

There's almost always good clean rollers round, though a new one does have it's attraction.  Are you planning on doing a b/l conversion?  it's been awhile since I priced up but the eBay breakers were very competitive for building back up from parts - more so if you send them an email and deal direct cutting out fees.

Ah good thinking , I might try that but I do want everything bar TX and rx, and the engine so that doesn't leave them much room for profit on those items

  8. Im thinking of adding a hyper 7 to my collection , partly to see what all the fuss is about really! I really like my hyper ST so hoping I'll enjoy a 7 too.

What I want to know is which model should I look out for? black, TQ .... there are quite a lot Im a bit confused. Whatever it is I'll probably ditch the standard engine and fit something better anyway, so been looking out for rollers etc.

Direct from web site. Mondays order came today but didn't fit. Ah well it was a trial and expected. Basically trying to find a blanking plate that'll fit a HPI engine.

Basically if you order expect it to come in 5 days to a week.  Rubbish !!!

Not a bash just a few facts.

I've ordered off them on perhaps 10 or more occasions over the years.

They were slow - perhaps between one and 2 weeks - Modelsport and Wheelspin would be within 2-3 days.

They do offer a very good choice of parts, often ones not available elsewhere.

Their prices are generally very competitive.

    Al.

Yeah I just went with them because they were the cheapest for this part.  Modelsport and wheelspin have always had great service for me too.

  11. Ordered a couple of bits from apex on Thursday last week, expecting them to be posted the next day.  Paid 50p extra to get 1st class post in the hope of getting them for the weekend.

We are now on Tuesday and nothing has arrived so I email chasing it up.  Do I get a sorry for the delay?

Nope.  I just get "your order is now dispatched".  Yeah thanks for the service.
