  1. Took the little ts4n for first proper run tonight, still running pretty rich to be on the safe side. But its rapid, big difference from the .12 engine. The SH .18 seems really good so far!
  2. Kyosho is another one Id like to try at some point - seem like a really old school company who really know what theyre doing and design tough stuff.
  3. Just wondered what manufacturers you guys rate ? Ive not owned too many but so far my favourite is probably Hobao, toughness and simplicity. Im quite impressed with the thoughtful design of the thunder tiger too. Id like to own a Losi at some point, hear lots of good things about them. Ones I dislike - HPI, super popular of course but working on other models makes some of theirs look badly thought out. Also find their force engines are prone to air leaks and dont hold a tune. Traxxas - had a crappy TMaxx at one point, hated the thing, its put me right off Traxxas although Ive always been watching ebay for reasonably priced Revos!
  4. Im sure mods will move this to the right section. Good luck with that price on a bullet! I just checked how much they are new
  5. Are they worth £250 used? Seems to be a fair number sold around that price
  6. I just noticed you answered this post - was for sale in september 2015 lol
  7. Can you pm me as I'm not able to pm you for some reason.
  8. Put 15t clutchbell on it today ( up from 14t standard ) , I'll see how it goes with that. Did a bit more running in, a fast idle and some slow driving around still nice and rich, was spitting fuel from the exhaust. Temps up to 220F , then piston back down to bdc to cool right down. Quick video of running in, looking forward to getting it out for a proper drive!
  9. Ah interesting, I didnt know those were the same!
  10. As per subject, anybody had one - what are they like? I dont know anything about the brand, was looking at some earlier. Looking at videos they seem to be really capable off road and amazing torque. Look fun!
  11. I've only driven it slowly around the patio, still not fully run in. Can tell just pulling away theres more torque though. Little link to some pics now shes cleaned up
  12. I've had a few models and I really rate Thunder tiger for their ts4n - well thought out, easy to work on and very reliable. I'd definately have another thunder tiger!
  13. So I've had some time on my hands recently and decided to tidy up my little TS4N. I got it used in cracking condition, and I've hardly used it myself. The pro.12 engine was starting to feel a little down on torque for my liking so have put in a new SH .18 which I started for the first time today. Will gear it up a little bit, 1 or 2 teeth. Already got diff oil changed to have a rear bias. Put some new wheels on it, and a new air filter. Shame I'll need to cut a hole in the windscreen for air!
  14. I usually put some oil in just to help with those first movements. Make sure it gets nice and hot, I started a new engine for first time today and the 100f the engine heater got it to didn't help it much ... Used a heat gun carefully to get it to 200f and it spun over easily. Just something that could save breaking a pull start
  15. If you want to replace the head for any reason they aren't too dear and easy to swap. I'd just use it and change it if it gets badly scraped , I hate them looking like that too.
  16. Yup that's it bolted in. Don't know if the angle of the pic makes it look funny ? Just had a bit of a nightmare getting it started - factory settings were a mile off, it needed the lsn leaned in lots before it even made any noises like starting. Got it it running though and starts easily now.
  17. Yip thats the plan, if it runs happily I might go from 14t - 16t
  18. Yip - just cut away that silver plastic that was in my way. Put up a new topic about my progress made. Cheers tom!
  19. Bought a couple of things from ebay seller blacksmithproducts , really great service. Prices are good, and post is free. Ordered late in afternoon and with me next morning, probably 300 miles away. Recommended!
  20. I decided there was no way around chopping the T shaped piece of plastic upper tray which was in the way of the flywheel and carb of my new .18 engine. So quick chop later, some shimming of clutch bell and I've been busy rebuilding and cleaning. Hopefully start running it in tomorrow.
  21. Ok more problems! Got clutch kit with extender bolt in today. Got it put together, length is good. But the flywheel sits maybe 0.5cm further towards the engine, which would mean cutting a larger hole in the chassis for it but worse than that it fouls the little T bar section you can see in the first pic. The old flywheel sat just in front of the T bar. Where this needs to be for the gears to mesh, the flywheel would be directly under the T bar section of metal. Im thinking about just chopping it out, but I know it will lose a lot of strength From second pic you can see the engine should be a good bit forward yet , but the flywheel is the big problem. I can't use the spacer thing frmo the shaft of the thunder tiger engine as its centre is an oblong shape , not round. What I need is a slightly bigger crankshaft spacer but I can't find any of these for sale. Any ideas? Im stuck.
  22. Once I get the new engine running and settled in I'll probably go up a tooth or 2 on the clutch bell just to see if I can use that .18 torque
  23. I've ordered the clutch kit with the axle which Tom linked me to. Doesn't come with a clutch bell, thought I could just use my original one?
  24. Thanks for your help Tom, despite running nitro for years I've never come across a different crank engine. Yes new engine came with the thick spacer which fits over the brass collet. I think I understand now ,
