  1. Savox is the obvious answer in te £40-50 range, I run a 1251 but I also have an SRT and have high regard for their range at a slightly higher price point. Aim for servos around 0.08sec/60deg, torques is largely unimportant in touring as virtually every servo on sale aimed at TC  is torquey enough. 10kg+ is the norm.

  2. I need a brushed ESC easy right? Nope!

    the following limitations are non-negotiable.

    Input - 4.8v NiMH/1s LiPo

    20t brushed motor limit

    No delay on reverse

    NOT originally made by Mtroniks.

I'm thinking an ESC designed for crawlers might be the answer, what do you know that fits the bill. Tekin FXR/BXR do but very hard to find now. Mtroniks and I have history so....I'm not going there or the companies who rebrand their ESCs.

  3. That chap has some utterly horrific views on certain topics over the years on social media,

If he told me it was raining I'd still look out the window to check. I wouldn't pay  attention to anything he says.

Were Kyosho ever part of Tamiya?

     Nope.

Kyosho has been having financial difficulties for a long time, hopefully this takeover will be the start of a new future for them. The old Mini-Z line has pretty much propped yup the RC side of the business since 2002. The scale model planes and boats have done very well though.

My grandson's Futabe 3gr transmitter has developed a fault and he needs a replacement but doesn't have the funds to replace it with an other Futaba one. Can any one recommend an other brand which is good with adjustable end points that doesn't break the bank. Thanks in adavance.

Is it for a car?  Bashing or racing?

I'm of the opinion that buying cheap radios means buying twice when he reaches the limits of it.

The Futaba T4GRS has plenty of fans trackside.  However stick radio choice ids very limited. Its mid-range but not cheap/. https://wheelspinmodels.co.uk/i/243521/?gclid=CjwKCAjw07qDBhBxEiwA6pPbHoqU0WaxFW6pSpvSpM7Ngr_v0qiJCS_5uNCG27-HRUQjC538sIfnrhoC6zMQAvD_BwE

Can he drive with a wheel radio at all? There's more choice at various price points.

In all due respect wltoys isn’t the best choice at all. Save up and get yourself a proper RC...

Agreed, Youtube influencers push them like crazy to get affiliate sales, but essentially they are pretty junk.

  7. ebay is the best location to find spares but its a long discontinued chassis (2002) so it will be difficult to keep in working order.

Do you have a manual? Searching via part numbers will give the most accurate results if anything is to be found.
