  1. There are two types of M chips the M standing for Mobile. One is a GDDR5 chip with its own built in 512mb-1gb memory and the other Shares systems DDR3 memory. this is probably the chip you have. There should be some way of adjusting the shared memory size. But being a Mac Probably not. (usless shiny boxes)  ask on a Mac forum if there is a way.

  2. Forget them all and download planetside 2. It's free, and unlike other free to play games, it's not a pay to win game, as you can quickly upgrade your weapons without using real cash. Plus it's like old school battlefield everyone works together as it's heavily objective based. And the maps are called continents. As they are 20 times bigger than the largest bf3 map.

    Need I say anything else?

Wait, what. they are all running PC's instead of Xbox lol. That's actually a good ploy. look at these amazing Graphics. Of course when you get it home it wont look like this. haha im sure there is a perfectly good explanation.

  4. wow that case must be tiny to not fit an evo in. Still at least it works a treat. If you want to know what your REAL temps are get "realtemp" will show you the exact core temp of each core plus the average.

Also I know its annoying but its better to lean the side of the case against it anyway. as it directs the airflow through the case better. when you have a side off the airflow is a little messed up and the temps are normally higher.

  5. Thanks cerbrus, think im going to go for the second one you linked me too, i have no plans to run sli as i have one pci slot on my motherboard so that's not a concern as yet.

    thanks for the help

    anything else i should know??

    aiden

No just as long as you mean PCIe and not PCI slot other wise you wont even be able to use the GPU lol.

With Nvidia cards its better to uninstall the driver Completly, then use CC cleaner. And then get the most up to date driver. Nvidia drivers can be a pain. Also what OS are you running?

  6. these are the only Non branded PSU you should ever go for. And thats because they are built by Be Quite and rebranded by novatech. They are a good buy.

    http://www.novatech.co.uk/products/components/powersupplies/nov-psg600.html

This is a non modular one, But is the entry level Performance PSU.

These are also great PSU plenty of bang for buck. But if you ever want to go SLI it wont take it

    http://www.novatech.co.uk/products/components/powersupplies/p1-550s-xxb9.html

A little bit more than the other two but a big performance PSU. When tested it went right up to 900wats before it finaly shut down.

  7. Its not that simple. The card you are using needs a constant 30amp supply.

You have to work out what is on the same rail as your Molex conectors. Some cheaper PSU's will bundle them all together, As for the most part items on Molex connectors do not draw that much power, HDD's DVD drives.

This is why it is better to buy a power supply that has the necessary plugs on it, as you can be certain that each of those 6pins on the PSU will supply at least 40amps.

Now from what I can see of your PSU none of the MAX amps get near to the 30amp range. Without having a clear breakdown of the PSU I am unable to tell if all the molex connectors are using the same rail. If so then I doubt the PC will even start up. Or it will beep at you telling you there is not enough power for the GPU. And possibly causing the PSU to go kaboom, and thus I would advise against using that PSU. You should never have to use a molex connector. It is very rare for a GPU to come bundled with them anymore as new cards just arnt able to run off of a Molex adaptor.

I would advise you strongly to go and spend $40-50 on a half decent PSU. that has the right connections. If im not mistaken When I built Highlanders first PC the 600 watt Corsair PSU had plenty of punch and two 6pin PCIe cables.

  8. ummm this is why people are posting about 'Other' stores lol

Yeah but your you have to figure out what can be brought from pc world to use up the 500, before you go shopping else where.

Think a decent build is coming together from these suggestions. Thanks. How about ram? Ive only ever swapped out laptop ram so used crucial which told me exactly what was needed. What's good value out there?. Sent from my GT-N7105 using Tapatalk 2

Anything more than 1600mhz is a waste of money. You just won't notice the extra grunt, but you will certainly notice the empty wallet.

You can grab 8gb of DDR 3 for around

  9. Still wondering why people keep posting about other stores?

Anyway. Try and grab a GPU and Monitor from PC world. you wont save much money buying a GPU else where.

That's the best bang for Buck you can get ATM. you wont have to worry about upgrading it for a fair few years either. That will leave you with

  10. Zavvi will put down prices stupidly lower than everyone else in order to get the most pre orders. So they get the units for a larger discount.

  11. speed is not how quick your game loads.

or your respawned into the killing field spawn point.

speed is the billions of mathmatical caculations the CPU's are doing.

the floating point calculations, the amount of teraflops it can run at etc etc.

speed is not what you think, boundrys will always show on a chip. there is only so much

we can put onto a single silicone wafer .

if you want fast, like as in speed fast, you need very fast memory ( even DDR5 will not cut it )

chipsets will need cooling to close to true Zero degree temps ( space cold)

chipsets will have to use quantum tunneling effects .

quantum somputers are used now, Nasa-google etc etc to name a few have the hand in the quantum computing relm.

MOORES LAW !! shows there will be a point where we just cannot go any quicker, thats when quantum physics will play its part.

wtf are you going on about, we are talking about a bloody xbox not quantum computing. and its "GDDR5" Not DDR5, DDR5 doesn't exist... yet and GDDR And DDR are two very different things.

  12. You have to forget about how the games look now, its new. No console when it comes out has amazing graphics, it takes time to learn how to optimize the games for hardware that is available.

The X86 architecture will allow it to be backwards compatible as well. The PS4 will have more Graphics grunt due to using GDDR5. Where as the Xbox Is using AMD's APU technology and having the 8gb of DDR3 shared between CPU and GPU.

But being as most games are multi-platform you never get any difference anyway, because they are all coded the same.

Should be good, Plus USB 3.0 Support so backing up you data wont take bloody ages. I just hope the HDD is Upgradable. Because if it Automatically rips disk based games to the HDD. You are going to need more than 500GB.

  13. Its not about age, or millage, its how big it following and scene is, I have a 30 year old Toyota Corolla in the garage. Its older than you Pug 306, has loads more Miles than your 306. But I can sell it for 8K tomorrow.

Good MkII shells will always sell weather it be to use for a GTI rebuild. Or just to Mod for what it is. I personally think it will sell very easy.

  14. I have got my 7770 to play Bioshock infinite, at top settings, and it runs smooth, no screen tearing etc. :good:

You wont get screen tearing on a 7770, Screen tearing happens when you GPU is over powerd for the monitor you are using and the FPS goes way above the Refresh rate of the monitor. That's what Vertical Sink stops. But yeah 7770 packs a punch for a Entry level GPU.
