  1. Haha, I think you're right actually, I'm still an unpredictable driver... I'll make a battery strap and posts when I'm back at school as well to be safe.
  2. Lol, thanks, 'one heck of an engineer', I like that! There weren't any pretty pics in my personal statement, but it still got the goods, s'all I'm saying bro Oh yeah, I remember you not liking the porsche. Glad tou like the project though And yes. http://www.msuk-forum.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=48803 It's in there atm
  3. Here's my new car!: Should be nice and quick... Apparently as it's geared now I'll see 70mph. Will have a go soon hopefully! And yes, I am using gaffa tape to hold the battery in
  4. Garry, you're a legend. I'll keep an eye out for another LR bulkhead, that's a really good idea (actually, if anyone has one they don't mind parting with, please pm me!). Thanks a lot for the link for the belts as well! I've ordered a belt for the xpress 1/12th in my last order from HK, and if that isn't usable I'll defiantly send them an email. Do you know what pitch the belts are btw? Thanks again mate, appreciate the help. Richard, I wanted the Xray for my bash car, but I got a nicer car instead Pics up in a min... Thanks for the offer of photos, but I'll pass I'll get the DSLR out when I want nice ones, my phone camera is just convenient!
  5. Thanks a lot mate! Because you're right The only motor I have now revs at 90,000rpm, it's in my trf atm, but it's going in this when it's done! How's the MB??? Thanks, will do!
  6. Thanks man Yeah, I like making things differently I had thought about putting the servo where the motor goes, but in all honesty I'm going for the 'think about it when you get to it approach'. Once it's mounted to a mock up chassis then I can sort it out. It might end up going at the very front of the car for all I know!
  7. Intro A little while back (well over a year ago) I got myself a Tamtech Porsche 934 shell with the intention of fitting it to a 1/12th chassis. I hated the Tamiya chassis it was meant to sit on, and quite wanted 4wd, so first of all I tried an Xray T1m. Basics, the wheel base was too long and although I was happy to shorten it, the wheels wouldn't fit over the hubs. So I sold that! Next attempt was with a Sportwerks Recoil. I could have made this work but I went off it , as I decided I wanted to use 1/10 electrics rather than 1/18th. This was a problem, as the shell is pretty small. So to get 1/10 electrics AND 4wd would be a bit of a challenge... The Project: The first thing I did was pick up a rear bulkhead/layshaft bit from a Xray T1. After a bit of thinking about how to get belt drive and fit a battery, I decided to get another rear bulkhead. The raised layshaft allows the belt to pass over the battery, thus sorting the issue of space. Next I ordered the corners from the Tamtech GT01 from HK. All I've really changed on these so far is the front now have drive shafts going through them (the Tamtech's only RWD). I'm now waiting on another order from HK for the pins that go through the wishbones. I need to mod the bulkheads so the battery will fit on the middle again. Next week I'll try and make a chassis out of MDF. Also on order are some shocks. Will look at inboard suspension. I also need to sort out belts. I'm fitting a standard rear belt to the rear bulkhead, and then I need to find a belt the right length (after tensioning with a pulley) so it will clear the battery. If anyone has a belt they think they can help me out with or know of a belt that will fit on the xray's pulley but is shorter than usual, it would be very much appreciated. I plan to finish the bodyshell in gulf colours, though I might leave one half clear so you can see what I've built behind it. Thanks for reading, I'll keep this updated as I go along
  8. Sorry, no can do :] It's a 1/10th shell so should fit on all 1/10th cars, cheers

  12. Pictures!: Resulted in: A friends poor driving: And And how high it bounced: Result: After a friend hit a wall at about 40mph, I needed a new chassis, front wishbone and shock tower. The diff was knocked out of place and the belt later shredded. Happy times
