  1. It won't re-calibrate. Or enter programming mode. It was about 40C when it stopped working, so not hot at all. Its only 2 weeks old so I'm sure they'll take care of it. My experience with their customer support is very good.
  2. Are problems common on these units? I think my G2 Pro's not working properly, half way through a run in my Slash the motor stopped responding. It won't recalibrate, or enter programming mode either. Just sits there flashing its lights at me. Busted? Can't find much out about these controllers, but its been an excellent unit till now.
  3. I don't doubt one will shift an Emaxx. I used to have a Feigao 540C-9XL in my Emaxx and my BL Savage conversion, and it was a rocket on 14 cells, would flip onto its roof in 2nd gear in the Savage. In the Slash, I had to abort the first test run, as the slipper couldn't handle the torque and slipped for 4-5ft on pullaway, and one of the rear tyres unglued itself. By the specs, its basically a VXL 3500 motor, but that extra long rotor gives it so much more torque. So much fun once the teething issues were sorted.
  4. I run them on all 4, standard tyres are different F/R but don't last very long, and with that much power you want tyres that will last more than a run or two. They're pretty good on all surfaces and last a while.
  5. Awesome trucks, picked one up a couple of weeks ago. I run it with a Mtroniks P2 5.5t (5500kv) motor on 7 cells and it flies, 42mph on the GPS and will lift the front end on 1/2 throttle, on 10 cells you'll struggle to find grip anywhere! I would recommend new tyres, I run these all around, they're great for bashing on all surfaces, http://www.modelsport.co.uk/?CallFunction=ShowSpecification&ItemID=14478
  6. Not sure if these motors have been mentioned on here before, but on a whim I brought one of these the other day to try in my Traxxas Slash, http://www.giantcod.co.uk/black-mantis-b3560-3400kv-inrunner-brushless-motor-p-405064.html Gave it its first run today, and its an awesome motor. I really can't believe it was
  7. PM'd about motor, if still available.
  8. Will you split? Please PM me if you will, can arrange courier.
  9. Bumpety bump, also looking for a balance board like the Novak smart tray or even an LRP/Nosram Concept board. Thanks.
  10. Looking for some used batteries to power my new e-firestorm. Anything with good power/runtime to suite my limited budget. Running IB5000's when it counts but need some "practice" packs to use when bashing. 6, 7 or 8 cell packs are fine. Cheers.
  11. Will you split the VXL motor? Would look lovely in my Slash, for the right price Cheers.
  12. Gearing depends a lot on your wheel size and the type of running, using a gear calculator with an overall efficeniency of around 80% will generally give you a good starting point. When I converted my 1/8 savage way back I kept the stock gearing as the motor was running about the same rpm's as the old nitro motor on the given voltage. Kept it simple That was 14 cell NIMH's on a 2200kv motor.
  13. I have a 6 turn one of these (5900kv), and yes they're cheap and cheerful, and run a bit warmer than quality motors at 2-3x the price, but they will deliver more or less the same performance. I used to use my 5900kv version in 1:10 trucks on 7-8 cells, and it delivered impressive performance. Did a speed run on 9 cells in my old B3 and it GPS'd at a shade over 65mph. It would overheat for normal running on that voltage and gearing, but they are basically good motors. I reckon it'll be fine for your application. Just remember the 5mm shaft, pinions are a tad harder to find.
  14. Just a case of keeping an eye out on the bay I suppose, not even sure how much they're worth these days, strong little units even if a bit long in the tooth now.
  15. Sorry to bump a few days old thread, I just wanted to add that the Mtroniks ESC's are by far the best ESC for running in wet conditions. I still have a Genesis Pro that has been ran through snow(!), on an iced over canal, through wet sand and has been thoroughly soaked by seawater, no problem. Never had a fault with motors in the wet either, I just put a bit of insulation tape over the bearing in the end-bell.
  16. They look fantastic value for money, just worried runtime might be a little short, I have a 7700kv motor and the old Mtroniks genesis motor, and both can draw insane amps. Hobbyking have what looks like the older 5000mah lipo's, only 20C output instead of 30C. But $20 a peice and in stock. Bargain?
  17. Thanks for the links chaps, so for a 5000mah lipo about
  18. Just trying to get my truck going cheap as poss, I use lipo's in my FTX Fury (2s racing, 3s bashing) and the power is awesome, but a lipo batt (
  19. Have been out of the R/C scene for a while, and am feeling the urge to get my 1:10 truck going again (rc10t2) The last batteries I brought a few years ago were GP3300's, which were the best of the best at the time. Are NIMH's still any good, I see on the modelsport shop there's 4500, even 5000mah packs now, for under
  20. VJ, 4 lipo's are 14.8v, I fail to see a problem, you can't run the Pro motor on this kind of voltage but the controllers do it fine. If you replaced your 380C-7T with a 380C-13T you could run 4s lipo on your setup, for example. Thing is aside from the motors over-revving, as voltage goes up so does the amount of amps being pulled because the motors very low resistance. And they get very hot because efficency drops as well.
  21. I used 3racing parts on my mini-t, I found them to be of a good quality and strong (I never broke the parts I replaced with 3racing alloy bits, whereas I was breaking stock hubs almost every time I drove it). Stay away from GPM though, their parts are definately inferior, but personally I'm quite happy to buy 3racing bits.
  22. The features on their controllers sound impressive, the responsive time is apparently about 1/3 that of most Schuzle units, which are similar to Mtroniks. For prices (and to buy if you want one) look here: http://www.shopatron.com/index/290.0 Good prices but for that I'd expect waterproof units.
  23. Its safe for 12. I have spoken with Paul at Mtroniks last year and confirmed this, in addition to running 12 cells on a 380-9T (otherwise known as "plasma sport") motor in my TC3 with my Pro controller last year. I also know several people who use 4s lipo on theirs in vehicles such as electric MT2's and the like with no problems. But, the Pro MOTOR is not safe for more than 8 cells. If you run it on more than 10v it will pull enough amps through the controller for it to go up in smoke. This is I think why Mtronik's description of the Pro controller say not to run more than 9.6v through, because a lot of people will buy the Pro motor with the controller, and this combo is only safe for 8 cells.
  24. Riky, the Mtroniks Pro handles 12 cells fine. 4s lipo has a higher nominal voltage than 12 NIMH cells so no problems there. I think the reason they specify 8 cells is the Mtroniks combo motor (re-labelled Feigao 540 6s) hits its "recommended" RPM limit at around 9.3v. One thing that is concerning me about these controllers, is I have heard reports of its built in LVC not kicking in at the recommended cutoff voltages for lipo cells. Anyone have any experiences with this? Apparently even when set to 4s lipo it will allow the battery voltage to drop to less than 5v, when it should cut off at 12v.
