  1. Hey, I am looking for a 1/10 skyline body, Specifically: Nissan Skyline 2000 GT C110 Nissan Skyline C110 Nissan Skyline 2000GTX C110 If you know where I can find one please get in touch, if you have one to sell I am looking for unpainted, light blue or light grey/silver. Thanks.
  2. Sweet, what setup are you running? also what servo if you don't mind me asking? Also, I am always intrigued, why did you remove the rear 'diffuser'? There are so many mixed feelings about it. I am tempted to shift my battery back to sit on it after seeing the Root961 rear diffuser battery mount, the main issue is getting a body shell to cover it.

    Bumper advice?

You will find you may have to modify a bumper to fit the kryptonite but it shouldn't be too difficult. I have T-Bones on my slash and my mini revo and they are great (if a little ugly). They really help when you flip at car as well as they stick out a fair distance helping it bounce. Not used the RPM bumpers but their stuff is rock solid. I have never broken anything of theirs.
  4. You can use http://www.modelclubs.co.uk/ to find local clubs in your area. Also if you go to your LHS (local hobby store) they can let you know of any around. You might not be able to find a full time drift track though as there aren't many around. Most likely you will find meets that race 1/10 touring cars and they often have racers who also drift at meets on different days. Also check the BRCA http://www.brca.org and look under 1/10 touring or 1/10 indoor touring. The BRCA don't list drifting as a sport so you can't search by that but if they do 1/10 chances are there will be a drifter amongst them. Even if there isn't they might have some information on some, even if it's just a small local meet. Hope that helps!
  5. Hey, I am currently using a FlySky and perviously using a Ansmann W3.1. My FlySky is fine but I am just looking for an upgrade to something the feels nicer in my hand, has a longer range and possibly a rechargeable batter inside (although don't mind using cells if I have too). I would like 3 channels for extra things such as lights or high/low switches etc. Looking to spend around
  6. Lovely looking shell man. Where did you get it from?
  7. Ok. So lipos won't work on your car because of the electrics. They are not Lipo compatible. Also you need a special charger for Lipos, they won't work with a regular one, they will just get damaged, balloon and possibly explode. Charging can take anywhere from 30mins to 2 or 3 hours depending on your charger and the batteries. When fully charged most batteries last around 20-30 mins depending on what you are doing with them. Personally I tend to find drift cars tend to last a tad longer due to not using that much power as you are rarely at full throttle. However you are using a brushed system which is quite inefficient so 20-30 mins is an acceptable time. Chances are the batteries weren't charged when you put the battery in the car. An easy test is put the battery on for 15mins. Unplug the battery and pop it in the car. Pick the car off the ground and try the throttle (LIGHTLY!) if the wheels spin you are heading the right direction! Then just charge them till they are full. Some chargers have a light that goes on/off when the battery is charged. DO NOT ever leave the battery unattended. If you are not sure about the condition of your battery or charger, charge outside away from anything flammable. You need to be careful, batteries can be dangerous. Hope that helps.
  8. Oh awesome. Seems like a good deal to me!
  9. Hey, You need to go to the right place http://www.msuk-forum.co.uk/forum/34-rc-videos/ as that is where all the videos live. If you search the forum I am sure you can find a tutorial on how to embed a video. If all else fails just copy and paste the youtube link into the post.
  10. Yes the MST MS01 is a really good chassis. I would say go for the kit version, grab a cheap brushless system off eBay (sensored, you can grab them for
  11. Ok, thanks man. Hopefully at some point I can make it to you to have a play around. I am just getting to grips with counter steer so might be a while yet, but we will see! Unfortunately the surface in the venue I was looking at isn't smooth enough. Looking at other places though! I might start looking further away, Liverpool perhaps. Higher concentration of people so more chance of finding members as well.
  12. Where is that meet at? Looks like you have a nice big track. EDIT: guess thats Bury!
  13. In your drifter while you are learning the brushed will be fine. As long as it has the power to break the wheels free and slide there isn't a problem really. The brushed motor in it will give way on you eventually though as those stock ones are only cheap things really. The main issue you would have with the flying fish is that the diffs aren't particularly strong and putting a high powered brushless system through them may just destroy them with one hard pull on the trigger. If you were to fit one you would have to be very careful with the gearing. If you find that the drifter isn't breaking free at the moment try some harder/slicker tyres for now and see how you get on with them first. The other option is to check online to see if you can find any information about the diff, replacement parts or whole replacement diffs (from say another car which has stronger diffs). Drifting is about speed anyway, yes its nice to pull a long sweeper at high speed but they are uncommon on tracks.
  14. Hey man, any updates? Quite interested by one of these just to play around with.
  15. Hmmm. What charger are you using? are there any lights on it, if so are any lighting up or not lighting up? How old is the battery (new or used)? chances are at some point you will want to get a second battery any way so you drive for longer. There are quite a few different chargers around, some of which may be quicker than the one you have now. It's rather hard to tell over the internet what the problem is. Plug the battery into the charger, sit with it for a while. Is the battery getting warm? If so it is charging and it could be the just the charger is being funny. If it doesn't it means it isn't charging, unfortunately this doesn't tell us which the problem is, but this is a good idea to see what happens!
  16. Yeah thats the way. Try to set out of a figure of eight style track. It's a good way to learn to link corners as well as changing direction and controlling speed. You want to turn before the corner so the car is already sideways. If in doubt go look at some youtube videos of drifting. Watch the front wheels. You will be able to see direction and power. Don't hold the throttle down, just blip it to keep the wheels spinning to maintain the slide, that finger should never be still! If you get tired try doing some gymkhana style donuts around an object for a while. Try and learn the link between acceleration and turning. You don't always need to do both at once. If you spin out, try again and go slower, keep track of all your steps. If you keep spinning out just practice a corner one section at a time. Going in (then just let the car slide out). Once you have mastered that, try to maintain the drift and angle. Once you can do that you need to get a grasp with exiting a corner. The car can slide without speed, you don't need to go fast. It takes more skill to keep a slow SMOOTH tight figure of eight then any other track. Practice lots and before you know it you will be slide out around chair legs, under the cat and 360 parking it between the bin and computer. Oh and don't stress over it. Good luck, post your progress in here for others to see. Everyone here is lovely, can offer advice and tips. It's also handy for when other new drifters join for when they learn.
  17. Oh I guess its worth saying I am in Chester. Don't get out as much as I would like, especially not recently.
  18. Hey Joe, Sadly there is no where in chester to run RC really. There used to be some space behind the hospital but after a few guys took some petrols there we were no longer allowed on. I am looking at maybe starting a small drift club. I haven't got too much space yet but if you would be interested keep in touch. I need to work out costs. Also it depends what kind of RC you are interested in.
  19. Hey DM, Just wondering when you are looking at running the MR-03 series and how much entry is? Also is there a membership fee? Would it be running the stock spec? Upgrades allowed?
  20. Yes, a clone car is pretty much a copy. So for example is one of the big companies like Yokomo made a car, a company may copy the design without permission. That is a clone car. There are lots of clone cars that are 'legit' where the company has purchased the design but its often done with older models.
  21. Ok, cool. Sadly I can't get up to Bury as I currently don't have a car (1:1). I did notice there is a mini-z track there so I am tempted to pop up for that there anyway some time. Good to know there may be some interest though. Thank you. Anyone else?
  22. Yep, that is the one. It's a starting point. It's rather basic and easy to break but that shouldn't be too much a problem. The biggest thing while your learning is to go slow. You want to be able to control the car at any speed. Those big drifts into tight turns require a lot of control and slow speed practice is key. If you never go faster than your ability level you shouldn't smash stuff really. You will find the diffs will need some extra attention and also the drive shaft cups at these can take quite a beating from hard acceleration. That said drifting is about being smooth so there shouldn't be too much of a need for hard on/hard off control. I know its a bit of a drive (hour or so) but soul RC is based in Northhampton. They are one of the the greatest (if not the greatest) drift RC tracks in the UK. They have a circuit there as well as a small shop (although they won't stock parts for your flying fish sadly). That is a great place to get started. If you get in touch with them, explain you are new and maybe they can help you get started as well. EDIT: It's worth pointing out Soul RC also offer help with getting started and setting up your car if you a beginner but for that they prefer you to pay for one of the larger pit spaces so there is room for you and a staff member. They also won't let you run clone cars. Now I am not sure if a flying fish is a clone (I don't believe it is but I am not sure) so you would have to ring and make sure before you get there.
  23. Ok well if you have a search for flying fish drifter on ebay you will see a few come up that are pretty much what you've got. Getting spares can be a little bit tricky but if you find an ebay reseller that stocks the car, chances are they can get you spares, however you may have to contact them directly. A lot of clubs won't list they drift but if they do 1/10 electric on road/touring cars there may be a few people there who do it. In that case drop them an email. EDIT: Another option is to go into a local hobby shop (LHS) and ask about drifters there. There might not be a club but there may be a casual meet or they could put you in touch with other drifters they know in the area.
  24. I think what you have there man is a Flying Fish drifter, not an HPI. I could be wrong. I think a lot of the stickers say HQI (hqi) and it is a common mistake to make. Take a google of Flying Fish drifter. HPI don't make a chassis that looks like that I am afraid (or as far as I can remember) but hopefully another member can confirm this for me. I am only pointing it out so you know where to look for parts As far as clubs go, try using http://www.modelclubs.co.uk to find local ones. Sadly the BRCA don't reconginse drifting as a competitive format (yet) so you can't search via it on their website. Hope that helps a little.
  25. Hello, I haven't posted for a while. Uni got in the way etc. Anyway. I am living back in the North West and noticed there aren't that many clubs in the area and there aren't any that do drift (large scale off road, electric indoor pan and small scale buggies). I am currently looking at the viability of setting up a small club in Chester in the North West. The location is great, middle of the city with a large car park about 2 mins away. The room is already fitted with carpet and its a very hard wearing, low pile synthetic office style carpet that is very slide friendly. Obviously there is the price of the room and what have you involved. I am just wondered how much interest there would be? Not sure of the frequency of meeting as yet. I would love it to be once a week but obviously I would have to see. There we be a small fee for attending and the idea is there would be mixed events. From casual drift days through to D1 style tournaments and Gymkhana-esque freestyle events. All the events would have some form of prize (bought with the entry fees). Then towards the end of the year have invitational events for the winners to compete against members from other clubs (provided I can get some inter-club co-operation going on). So what do you think? I am looking at possibly a thursday or friday evening. There is a second room available to hire as a pit room but that is another chunk of money on top. The building is staffed, it has free WiFi, toilets and kitchen available to use. There is a pub across the road for some after race activities and a chip shop as well. Still in the early stages but would love to get a reaction from people. I'm not even sure if there are any people in the area who would be interested? PM me if you have any questions. Al.
