  1. A quick google search throws up a few results. Check this site out it may be able to help http://www.adaptall-2.org/ *Edit: A quick ebay search on the adaptall brings up this lot http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/Lens-Mounts-Adapters-/30059/i.html?_nkw=tamron+adaptall+2 And for price http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=m570.l2736&_nkw=tamron+SP+500mm+f8
  2. They certainly aren't paint brushes tamiya! I used crumpled paper set that on fire let it due out then fire off the frames. The rest is done in photoshop by cropping, adding layers, inverting, filtering etc.
  3. Started smoking today....
  4. Kudos on the dragonfly zeb, looks tack sharp on the mobile.
  5. Thanks hazza. Looking for a little help with portraits, I know how to set-up for portraits etc but I'm struggling to get eyes sharp, compared to some of the stuff I have seen "pro" toggers do. Now I know my way around photoshop and how to use the sharpening filters but I just can't seem to get the eyes tack sharp and if you like in focus. It's usually the bridge of the nose that's the sharpest part of the image with the image softening around the eyes and beyond. How can I make sure that my focus is locked onto both eyes? I use the multi focus points and fail but if I use the single focus point I fail too. This is what I mean, my little boys eyes in this image are soft yet the focus was locked onto his eyes. But these are nice and sharp... http://greatkidpix.com/images/bella-baby-photo-kidpix.jpg The reason I'm asking is I have being asked to do a couple of kiddie portraits for family and friends and I'd really like to attempt them.
  6. I think for now I'm out of the panning competition but will have a go once I can hold my camera again just got back from the hospital, my camera arm is now in a sling thanks to loss of rotation ligament hinge movement (or something like that) in my shoulder. So no going out and togging, going to be laid up for a week so I might get some more smoke and water-drops photography done. The guides thing is a great idea...I'm sure between us we could come up with some great advice for beginners/newcomers.
  7. Niall, any chance I could get these two in high res for my desktop?? *Edit, realised they are on Flickr and it has the size action. So Niall could I with your permission use these for my desktop??
  8. No couldn't quite stretch my budget to that one, this is the 1.8 mk2. The 1.4 is on the shopping list, but won't be for a while.
  9. Got a couple of new toys in the post today, but unlucky me has being in work since 6AM....anyway I come home to a nice shiny new battery grip and nifty fifty!! Just had a quick play and can tell the nifty is probably going to become a favorite lens... My little boy, sorry about the drool... My pooch... Both shots pretty much straight out of the camera, only a little curve adjustment added on my little boy and a little sharpening on me pooch. Looking forward to giving it a nice test next week when I finish work.
  10. Camera is a Canon 20D, looking at upgrading to the 40 or 50D in the next couple of months (hopefully an early xmas pressie to myself). As for lenses I have 18-55, 24-105, 28-80, 70-300 and 105 macro, some Sigma some Canon. Just got back from a mammoth 4 hour walk along the canals, not many shots as the dragon flies weren't out and the weather became pretty pants, so here's a couple I got...
  11. Got me a free website to throw my work up on and hopefully promote myself a little more. It's still a wip so expect things to change. Here's the link http://carlcurtis83.wix.com/carlcphotography#!home/mainPage Going out with the camera now so hopefully have some new images to throw up tonight.
  12. I used a reverse lens for quite a while, also figured out that if you set the aperture value on the camera then hold the depth view button and remove the lens the blades will lock into the aperture you set it into. Bear in mind that you will lose light doing this so either on board or external flash will come in handy. Speaking of macro... And some more I've snapped whilst out tonight... A burnt out car in the fields, gotta love Dewsbury I have done a slight HDR effect
  13. Managed to get out this aft...
  14. Absolutely nailed the panning in them shots Niall...awesome!! tingting, for the watermarks, google recording actions in photoshop and it will come up with how to do it. Easy to do, you simply select the text, size etc you wish to use then hit the little record button and write your watermark out, once finished hit stop and then save it. You will have saved the text watermark so when you want to use it again you simply press play and the watermark appears. You can still edit it this way too, so you can use transparency, re-size, change colour etc. To get the copyright logo hit alt 0169 whilst in the text box and it should come up (make sure number lock is activated).
  15. Some noice pics coming peeps... Unsure if I have put these up before, they aren't in my canon album on photobucket so I'm guessing I might not have... The sister in-laws hound.. and my lovely niece..
  16. I've been asked to do a friends wedding next year...I've turned it down, way too much pressure for me in not getting it right for the happy couples perfect day. Good luck tingting. My mate is a pro wedding photographer, very good he also has a blog which might be of help to you tingting http://lancejamesphotography.com/
  17. I've got the Sigma 105 f/2.8 EX DG Macro. All of my macro shots of late have been taken with the lens. As for the sensor tingting, it's easy once you have done it a couple of times. Just search ebay for sensor cleaning kits. You get everything you need including sensor swabs, just make sure you get the right size as they do the for full size and crops size sensors. As long as you are gentle then not much can go wrong, make sure you only wipe the sensor once with the swab so not to transfer more dirt than you pick up.
  18. Thanks for your input and I agree with you both, but I thought I'd throw them up anyway. The bee on the flower is out of focus and could have done with getting closer, the snails are boring but with limited light and only my onboard flash that's all I could get. It's definitely worth getting up a little earlier as the critters tend to be a little more docile and stay around for a little longer.
  19. Out early this morning 6am to see what I could get. Here's a few...
  20. Had it a few weeks now and so far its held up to the dog being sick on it, the young 'uns chocolate hands all over it, and my grubby mits caressing it In all seriousness it's pretty durable. The zips seem sturdy and the seems on it are all done very well, the only gripe I would have about is the orange flaps on the little compartment pockets inside, they get stuck in the zip!! I also use it as a weight for the tripod too...
  21. I bought one of these bags http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SLR-DSLR-Camera-Rucksack-Backpack-Fits-Canon-EOS-60D-5D-Mark-II-Cameras-Black-/230830435844?pt=UK_Camera_Cases_Bags_Covers&hash=item35be90ee04 Works great, looks a lot better in real life than in the pics and I can get my SLR, 70-300, 105, 28-105 and 18-55 lenses in it, aswell as my extension tubes flash ring and memory cards, remote timer and there is a strap on it for you to hang your tripod on.
  22. Keep at it ting ting, you will get there.
  23. Hazza...you're coming on in leaps!!!! Niall stunning landscapes again...and Rich air shots are fantastic. Not much from me just a few birds from the garden... Tingting, macro is HARD!!! It's practice practice practice, You will struggle at first but once you get the hang of things it will come as second nature. I used the macro filter things and tried with some still life at first these are a couple from using them on an 18-55 and the +10 Decided I wanted more so went with a reverse ring adapter and my 18-55 lens and got shots like these... I then realised I was fascinated with macro togging and went a bought a dedicated macro lens for the job, an expensive way into things but I've had more use out of the lens than I have my other lenses. From said lense... (infact most of the previous shots I have put up that are macro are from the dedicated lens).
  24. Loads better than the first attempt Zeb. Found a couple of shots I hadn't edited so messed with them... And as it has rained all day I decided to have another go at waterdrops...
  25. Hope you don't mind, had a quick play in photoshop: Upped the contrast, then adjusted the curves a little bit, removed some of the noise and tried sharpening a little. I tried cropping and then re-sizing but due to the file quality it just became distorted. I'm sure stupar or Niall would be able to do better. Cheers stupar, still a long way to go to get the images I want but I'm enjoying it so far.
