  1. Hey i joined up the other day. Maybe i shoulda waited for my introductory email...i started a thread but i cant find it think it got deleted by admin. Oh well. I sorted it. No worries. I will continue to read old ones cos there are some great ones on here. Thanks for accepting me to to the forum.
  2. Hey everyone!!! I was buying parts for a scx10 deadbolt and i ordered the wrong thing. I stupidly though that the scx10's were all the same underneath...i know its stupid lol. Anyway i found out the hardway that they arnt. But wondered if some of the package would fit. What parts do the range all share in common??? For example are the skid pans all the same? I imagine they are?? Would anyone be kind enough to school me on this subject please?? Cos ive got a few things i could use thus making my recent purchases usefull. Upper links appear to be the same length in the deadbolt as some of the other models...and on some shop sites they dont differentiate between the models the parts just say scx10 or have a few models listed that clearly have different a wheelbase. What are hou guys saying?
  3. I left the hobby when i couldnt get spares for my tamiya cars back in the mid to late 90's.....stupidly got back in to the hobby recently after noticing a few more hobby shops popping up and the reissue of various tamiya kits and a new local rc club and indoor track including a rock crawling track ...I thought maybe there was enough interest in rc for it not to end up a dead hobby yet again. Reading recent threads on forums it seems i was stupid after all. I cant get spares for my new models already. I hate buying blind from ebay. Ive already lost money buying stuff that dosnt fit my truck. The whole hop ups market on line is a lottery. Even the manufacturers dont make the damn spares i need. all i want is the lower and upper link kit for a scx10 Deadbolt and to change everything to aluminium so i never have to worry about tryna get parts loooooool. I have no means to machine metal myself ha ha. Totally regretting getting into scale 4x4 now. I think the trick is to get the most out of something cheap and never never ever listen to what the yanks say. Seems like they can get what they need all the time in those youtube videos....hmmmmm n the european market is complete tosh. Trying not to be negative but unless you "know people" you dead in the water. Yeah we all want stuff as soon as we break stuff cos the models cost so much in the first place you gotta use them alot to get your moneys worth. And if your planing your valuable days off around your hobby you want to be able to do it. Right? I Like the above comment i agree with that. Axial can do one. They clearly dont have an intrest in their british customers. Cos if they did they would send out a the common hop ups. Come on everyone wants the same stuff. Its usual stuff that breaks right? Cant be that hard surely??????? The demand for scale 4x4 and crawler hop ups n spares must be high? Due to the very nature of the beast. They get broke alot. Back to the drawing board i guess.......
  4. In comparison to an scx10 the maverick scout takes way more abuse, i might add....apart from the servo horn issue i keep getting....i havnt had a difflocker issue or anything and even my 7 year old son drives my maverick....my deadbolt broke before i even drove it. I way prefure my scout. Its not fast but its cheap n it works. Im yet to see what my scx10 can do. Seems like im gonna have to wait til next christmas, when ive up-graded every part to metal before i can even begin to do anything with it. Bu then i coulda brought ten scouts lol. Big up the Maverick Scout does the job!!!! I think i will sell my scx10. Its really hard to get parts for and its a bleddy fairy. I guess its quick. Dunno never been able to find out. But quick aint everything when your rock crawling.
  5. Hi guys. This is an intresting thread. I have a maverick scout. I keep breaking servo horns. I can clearly see a ripple in the moulded plastic ones (straight from the shop prior to fitting) which eventually leads to snapping. usually when you been driving it for a while, (stress probably weakens this point) and then smack into an object straight on (on a cold winters day lol) and hit the servo horn. My scout is standard no up grades nothing.... all ive done is regularly replace the servo horn. Ive literally just broke one this minute again! Thought id have a look on here to find out if its a common problem. So on monday im gonna sorce a new one in aluminium. I doubt an aluminum one will be much heavier that the plastic ones as they are pretty large thick dense plastic. Servos will burn out on rock crawlers over time due to the nature of work they have to undertake. And they arnt exactly expensive at 12 quid to replace. So im not really worried about that. The servo that comes on the maverick looks pretty heavy duty to me. I suspect summit else will break way before i burn out the steering servo. Im suprised people are suprised they break...after all they are plastic and the steering links are metal. The horn or the knuckles are gonna break first before aluminium links. Is there a link anyone can put up directing to a decent alluminium horn that will fit? Crawlers are money pits ha ha but i love em!!!!!
