Hi there new to RC cars. Just bought a traxxas slash 4x4. It was great, and then just stopped running. The motor is turning but it’s making a high pitch whine and isn’t driving the wheels. only has it two days so called the shop and they thought it was the Slipper clutch adjustment. I’ve tried tightening it. It ran for a few minutes and then stopped again. Is there anything much advice as to what could be wrong. Apologies if I haven’t explained it very well. I don’t know all the correct terminology yet! thanks for any advice. Andy

Hi folks, Sorry, I’m sure you get this a lot. I’m new to this forum and hobby. I built a Tamiya Rough Rider like 10 years ago and it sits nicely on the shelf, but lockdown has made me think seriously about getting into the hobby - least of all something to do. Ok there is so much choice out there, but I have narrowed down the field and thought I’d ask folks on here what they think. In terms of use, I imagine using this on the beach, car parks and on the shale bings. The shortlist... Losi Tenacity DB Pro (might be a bit too fast for me, but I guess I can turn the speed down as I learn to drive it) Losi Lasernut (I know, I’ve seen many of the dodgy reviews) Traxxas Slash 4x4 brushless Arrma Senton 4x4 brushless I’m torn. I do lean more towards the two Losi cars, even the one that many would call a lemon. I’m pretty handy with tools (I’ve got a classic car which I restore), so fixing the issues with the Lasernut not a big issue, but not sure how expensive that might end up being if Horizon not great at sending replacement parts for the things that will break. Well we all need something to look forward to while in lock down so here is my contribution. After hosting some pretty large bashing meets previously while supporting my local model shop I now want to throw a Slash owners meet for some grass roots racing and bashing. The event which ill class as a glorified bashing meet will include some head to head shoot out style racing with the event winner taking home nothing more than the admiration of the group and the bragging rights. This is open to all slash owners. 2wd, 4x4, stock or modified it really doesn't matter its all just for fun. This will hopefully be the first of many events launched under the banner of the RC community group I am kicking off called GRRC, Grass Roots RC. The GRRC is all about getting the most out of the RC's people own. So the date will probably be two to three weeks after the lock down is lifted and we are allowed to congregate again. Location will be in or around Wakefield West Yorkshire (numbers attending will dictate the exact location).
