  2. bloody hell mate, small world its jappa here from e36coupe what car have you got mate(sorry for th hijack)
  3. is the slipper clutch tight emough?it should be nearly full tight and then loosened off a bit.if it revs up without going anywhere it could well be that.
  4. ive got a spektrum dx3 and find it very good.i havent noticed it going out of range nd taking too long to respond either. £135 at modelsport or £155 with an extra receiver
  5. come down to essex mate to 'the quarry'
  6. i think its sorted now.i took off the carb and had a good look to see what the idle screw actually does.it doesnt actually do anything inside the carb, what it does is adjusts the position of the throttle arm.i must have unscrewed it too much and it was no longer holding the arm so when i braked it automatically ulled the throttle arm the wrong way. i put it all back together, all at factory settings and got it running on a stand(old table lol) here i could actually play around with the idle, lsn and the throttletrim on the transmitter without actually driving the car up the road. it seems fine now.i havent touched the hsn and cant really until i drive it properly.a quick drive around the garden saw it act very peppy.so it should be ok now. you need to get one mate.they are true monsters.40mh doesnt sound fast compared to a nitro which does maybe 45 however they are bloody fast(i have an ss) on loose gravel its actually hard to kee it in a straight line after turning. i love it and am going to get the rear dom pipe for a bit more power
  7. ive got all the filter off but cant see any opening or closing going on in the carb which bit should i be looking at.all the screw seems to do is move the little arm it sits on.even if i move the screw all the way in or out it seems to not actually do anything inside the carb
  8. thanks for that i,m going to do it right now
  9. well its a hpi baja so this may get moved. basically i ran it yesterday for the first time after running in.i tuned it and it ran perfect. today i went out and foolishly played with the settings.messed them up(must have been too rich as the plug was blacked up with carbon deposits) got it home cleaned the plug started it up outside my house and it ran away even with failsafe on. so sorted that and went back out. the car was now back at factory settings(although not the idle as i cant find that out). started it up and it revved up like mad.couldnt drive it.tried adjusting the idle but it made no difference, only richening the lsn made a difference, doing that made it idle (for all i know the actual idle is so far out and thats why i can only adjust with the lsn) ok so now its driving.very boggy (obv because its so rich) turning the lsn leaner only makes it idle like mad. however now when i touch the brake it pulls the throttle on the carb to the right(not sure if its meant to do this) and stalls the engine. the servo is set ok. the brake has never really worked no matter how much i adjust it. just took it outside to try again and now i can just about get it to keep idle but when i rev it the wheels barely spin you see for someone in the know its probably very basic to fix but for me i could be trying loads of things with no success.my idea is to give it to someone get them to set the brake up,set the tuning then i wont have to adjust the tuning unless i get another exhaust or something.
  10. actually upon checking it was wheelspin models.are they any good? your right mate about lhs.the problem i have with them is they are bloody dear and only interested in selling me more bits.i may trey though as imo what needs fixing is basic.i just cant get my head round it
  11. i,m sure on their site they had a page saying they will service your rc car for you.i can,t find it now i,d like to send them my baja as i just can not get it to run right or brake properly. i think i,m correct in thinking that if they tune it for me i wont need to touch it again
  12. due to purchase of a baja i,m selling my nearly new revo 3.3. bought for me by my gf for xmas so its only a couple of weeks old. the engine has had just under 1 gallon run through it and was ran in to the letter. comes with all the gear you get in the box plus the traxass front and rear pushrods (cost £14) a new crowd pleaser 2 shell painted in metallic purple and white.only ran once with this shell so is basically mint exept for a small scratch on the roof. ( cost me£35 inc paint) pretty bashed up standard shell proline velocity wheels with (not sure which) tyres wheels are a bit scratched up (cost me £60) standard wheels fuel bottles x2 battery and charger un fitted extra wheel base rear arms (cost me £10) a few spares including rod ends screws 3 airfilters total plus a few other bits kicking about. venom temp gauge with voltage display and also is a failsafe cost me £50 2 3232x plugs (cost me £8) glow plug heater, glow plug tool (cost me £15 with second bottle) car, batterys, charger and fuel bottle cost me £395 total package tere cost me £587 plus te few spares i have too so around £600 worth te underside skid plates are scratched up but otherwise mint and straight.always followed afterrun procedure i,m looking for £400 posted or £380 collected can place this on ebay(98 with 100% feedback) for your security as i,m obviously new here few pics
  13. i,m 99% sure i,m going to get a baja. however after reading the baja forums it seems that theres loads of bits which need replacing. change shocks to phatdaddys because the standard ones are crap some sort of guard round the engine to stop crap getting in uprated elcon clutch and arrier which seems to be around £100 at least some sort of mod to the hubs to stop the wheels falling off suspension arms easy to break and after looking at uprated ones it seems a full set is around £200 and a few other bits i,ve now forgotton are they really that weak or are they hardcore bashers thought i,d post here to get a more unbiased view cheers

    baja ss

that does look good.is it expensive? My main usage will be off road dirt (mud ) so they should be better.also i see on ebay a guy selling his baja has this conversion (says its £200) and its 600 odd mm wide

    baja ss

i,m unsure about the ebay one.have you seen it up next to a real one? they certainly are very cheap. i,ve got a newish revo and am already fed up of the finnicky tuning every time i use it also anyone know about the fg stadium truck rim swap.apparantly improves handling and stability and looks cool too

    baja ss

i,m thinking about getting one of these. is the ss version hard to build.it actually looks quite basic is the ss worth the extra money over the rtr (regardless of build time) wheres cheapest for one is that jap version on ebay really a hpi baja? the difference in price could see a lot of hop ups(like the 5.5hp engine )
  17. problem is i,m new to it all.i did the last engine by sight and ended up cooking it
  18. i,ve got a newish 3.3 revo motor.i broke it in and have started tuning.its got a venom temp/failsafe. its connected to the cooling head. problem is i set it to cut the engine at 266f which is 4f cooler than traxxas recomend.its cutting in all the time and i just cant get it to stay at 230 ish.i,m using byrons 25% fuel and if i lean it off a fraction it gets too hot.if i richen it a fraction it wont shift into second and even then it still gets too hot.(traxxas say this it wont shift up when its too rich). theres also a lot of oily crap coming out the exhaust. i,m still using the polug which came with the engine.shall i put a new 3232x in(medium hot) trail of smoke seems ok to me either way. i havent touched the lsn yet. should i rely on this temp gauge or up it a little.it seems like i want to go leaner but i dont want to kill the engine any help appreciated
  19. traxxas actually recomend running in on the same % nitro you plan to always use.they also recomend building up throttle useage over 5 tanks and then start tuning
  20. i know how you feel. my girlfriend got me a revo for xmas.i,ve had a few excursions shall we say running in and hit a wall.new suspension arm. got it fixed and killed the engine probably because i let it get too hot(did run in right) after half a gallon.(got a failsafe on the new one) broken pushrod. smashed the life out the shell. tried a few backflips off a quarter pipe, landed on a 3" metal bar.destroyed the bulkhead, broke a servo, broke a shock end. all within 1 gallon its all bak together now and mint, new shell freshly painted.loads of spares, loads more spares on order...... lets hope theres no damage this weekend.i think i need to go a bit easier
  21. it wouldnt surprise me if they come from the same factory and the manager is having a bit of a side earner.i,ve heard numerous times of chinese factorys opening at night for a bit of on the side production.i,ve heard of watches and nike trainers at least.i was even told that you can get branded fake trainers before they are even released in the shops-quality with these is a bit hit and miss though in my experience.same with watches.ive bought trainers and watches from china and while one or two are really good you will see 2 or 3 which are rubbish. i,m not sure but once hpi catch wind(which i,m sure they have) things may change.however they chinese are difficult to stop.as in shut up shop and open up down the road with a new name. a uk seller was once selling bbs lm rims(car) and when bbs caught wind that soon stopped.however production didnt and you can still buy them now. i,m interested in one of these especially for around 200.would really like to know if they are the same and is quality hit and miss.
  22. just fixing my revo and in a strange way i,m enjoying it a bit
