  1. Any thoughts? Any owners? Any experiences? I know this isn't talbot and a concrete skate park but this video shows some impressive performance and durability, it also seems unbelievable value. Surely if this durability and performance turns out to be the norm then trucks and truggies costing twice a much (xmaxx, kraton) are going to look very overpriced. I might have found a Christmas present for myself I can nearly afford/justify....ish.
  2. I know what you mean. I enjoy more of Kevin's content than don't, but do feel he goes just a bit too far and that's when it gets annoying. I guess I like seeing the extreme bashing and banter with his mates, and it's interesting to see what the cars can take. However I don't like it when, as usually happens, the car starts to have problems and instead of stopping there he goes on to destroy the car..... although it does then give a very thorough test, find all the weak points and he is honest with all that. I like Tomley's content for the same reasons others do, honest reviews that are not taken too far, varied rc car content, varied locations. I'd like to see a bit more of the fun competition stuff, crawler and racing. Maybe a bit more of the 'build the best xxx' for a budget whether X is a race buggy, a speed record, a crawler, or how about the best 1/X scale basher for £xx..... although judging that would be impossible it would be fun to see your take, kevs, and the others (I get the impression not all kevs buddies are quite such traxxas fans.... maybe?). Meanwhile, if stuck for ideas, what's the corally kagama like? 😉 Oh yes, how about bit more out door track or bmx track venue stuff?
  3. I assumed Mr Talbot sold high volume tat. I'd have guessed at anything that seems to sell not restricted to any niche or personal knowledge. He definitely doesn't say in his content, 'I've fitted X upgrade stocked on my shop/ my shop has plenty of stock of../I only sell the stuff I run and trust' so I think he has never sold rc stuff, the stuff he has some expertise on. I've got the impression he made his million doing well at selling absolutely anything that sells, high volume, cheap, anything from fidget spinners to haloween decorations to onesie to loom bands etc. Sold on ebay, amazon, etsy etc. Amazon do a thing where they take care of all the logistics, you just front up the cash, choose the products, design a listing. I wouldn't be surprised if talbot does this kind of thing so he doesn't even need a warehouse and do any distribution himself. That's interesting Tomley, I thought YouTube paid very little, but then Kevin is putting out lots of content and getting a lot of views. If this link is accurate he's worth 5 million and YouTube Income would be around £10k a day! https://naibuzz.com/how-much-money-kevin-talbot-makes-on-youtube-net-worth/ It won't be aldi and Asda for ever, with a little luck!

    MT8?

There seem to be deals around on the mt8 for less than £300, less than the mt10 currently. I've watched tomley and priced up the rpm Arms (kaiju arms are no longer available), arrma 5mm turnbuckles and redcat alloy hub carriers, and it totals £425. That is tempting but.... its the reason the car is available at such a discount that perhaps it is unsupported?
  5. Kids in bed so I grabbed it out the wardrobe for a longer look over. It looks Tough little bugger! Really does! X-maxx like body fix system with a roll cage under the shell, seriously beefed and braced chassis, metal drive train, heat sink and fan on the motor, scuff guards on the body shell.... There's not much I feel the need to do to this. I might have to strip it to reach the motor as I've a feeling there's no conductive potting between the motor and heat sink(kind of makes the sink SB insulator!)...a minimal amount of shoo goo....a bit of coke can scuff guardage.... Oh and probably most important I might knock up a DIY vacuum former to make an inner shell/dust and splash guard by forming a pet pop bottle.
  6. The first 2 have arrived! So a month to get here and 2 less than estimated, pretty good. Had one out the box to look over and out seems good. It's now at the back of the wardrobe.... Going to be hard keeping this as a Christmas present!
  7. @beyondRC could you suggest a battery peck that fits that I can buy as a spare? Brushed version. Thanks
  8. Seen your fuller review is up too Ricky, it looks a great upgrade. As you say, if it comes in at our below £100 then it should provide a lot of smiles. I'm slightly disappointed I ordered the older GPS and brushed version just before this appeared now! Ho hum One slightly worrying thing though, another YouTuber's review I saw of the brushed version, truck broke a diff cup first run out. It had done a few speed runs then a few jumps then....poof. apparently the spares will only be available from mjx direct too. That will be a problem and I hope it's not the case... Or that parts from the ftx or hbx fit.
  9. Good idea. Ta. I don't I'll push the range particularly but that would be a good test and good to know how it would behave.
  10. Cheers. Somewhat different to the last time I had a rc car, mechanical speed controllers and analogue servos! Good.
  11. What happens if you're RC car goes out of range? I'm guessing lag on the control inputs then eventually no response and the car continues in whatever direction and speed it had until it crashes, or does it fail safe and glide to a halt?
  12. Ta, I'll get the glue gun warmed up
  13. Ta, I'd been thinking of searching harder to find what shoo goo is, so that's great to know. I've 3 hyper go cars on the way (2 daughters and me) and also 3 alternative body shells. So I can use a big tube of sealant, but I know what you mean I've read with acetoxy silicone it can be thinned with white spirit then painted on. Its how scene modellers use it. It is slower to cure but ultimately unchanged for strength and adhesion. I'll go Google pu adhesive now.....evostik and other contact adhesives are pu I think.
  14. If they get here in the next 4 weeks, yes, but they are estimated to arrive in October.....mt8 as a stop gap? 🤣
  15. Is it better than a decent silicone for strengthening body shells? At a tenner for 110ml tube it's expensive, how far does a tube go? With a tube of acetoxy silicone costing half as much for 3 times as much, why is shoo goo the favoured flexible adhesive for body shell strengthening?
