  1. That looks great! Shame about the combo esc tho. I'm sure I could overlook that The tracer is one we've looked at,as well as a few others. Unfortunately brand may be a little out of the price bracket. That being said, they're pretty competitive prices even so.. Thanks for the input so far gents
  2. Thanks for that. I've fixed a friend's son's Absima for him. Well put together for what it cost, taken a beating too..I'd not thought about that The Spirit MT looks like there's room for tinkering too.
  3. Evening all, Looking for something 1/16 scale or smaller for mucking about with the youngest now he's a bit older. (We've got a little wpl crawler but it's not fast enough, apparently! The little blighter is only 4) Quite budget and speed conscious so brushed might be a better option.. What has anyone got..anything gathering dust or something they're looking to move on? Ta!
  4. have you managed to progress this any more, it looks amazing and almost the biggest pain in the @rse at the same time!
  5. Hot on the heels of my Scout purchase, I found a well priced mk2 (?) strada mt fairly local to me. Converted to brushless and upgraded esc, though I'm yet to discern to what for both. A few teething troubles (motor gear cog span loose after 30 mins and I can't get the steering to reverse polarity) it looks like this might be staying. Previous owner can't remember what he upgraded to as it was his son's and he did the work. It came with a spare 4200mah nimh, so after a few cycles on the charger I'm not far off the original capacity for that and the original battery. I've got a decent lipo I could use but until I figure out which esc it is I'm not about to risk it. Body shell has seen *much* better days, so when funds allow I may either go for a blank one or something completely different.
  6. Interested, will drop you a pm
  7. That's ace, I was just looking at that one in modelsport Cheers fella
  8. Well, the scout looks good. Upgraded servo on the front, upgraded battery. The only downside was a few bumps and scrapes on the rear axle housing and no charger. The shell is still in its plastic protective cover. I think I'll be popping over at the weekend to collect. Now any pointers on a decent budget balance charger... Doesn't need to be new!
  9. Hmm, that is interesting. It might not have enough "monster truck" for my little boy 😅 Good find though, thank you for that. I'm going to look at the scout tonight and will report back
  10. Hi, I bought my kids an Amazon crawler (maisto 3xl) to keep them quiet a while back and ended getting a fair amount of enjoyment out of it myself. My birthday is just round the corner so with a limited budget (around 100, but I'd prefer to spend less) I've been looking around FB market place. 2 have caught my eye.. Maverick scout with an upgraded battery for 80 quid or a Redcat Rock slide for 50. I've spent the last week or two scouring the internet for info about them both. I can't make up my mind. The rockslide appears to have more features (tho I know you can upgrade the scout to 4 wheel steering) but it's older and less common in the UK (this one is actually an HBX clone). The maverick is newer and has better options to upgrade however it's a few quid more.. I think my head is saying maverick. Or should I wait and see what comes up in the FS boards here? Thanks for your input and advice
