  1. Hi All, Looking to run two 2S shorty packs in a 1/8 truggy, and to run one of the 2S shorty packs in a 1/10 truggy. I'm concerned if the packs might short out, would the intellect battery stopper https://www.modelsport.co.uk/product/intellect-battery-stopper-pk10-437699 help/stop shorting if packs stacked with the connectors the same end? Cheers!
  2. Tekno ET48 2.0 ordered with the LFR Patriot shell and a couple of upgrade bits, from the thoroughly nice chaps at rprcdistribution, and unlike Wheelspin and Modelsport, would tailor a bundle! Will attemtp to do a build log....
  3. Hi All, Have my Schumacher 21 XTR-3e 3 speed on ebay, just coruious of what it might be worth? Has not been started for a few years. Cheers!
  4. I think I'm sold with the Tekno! Comes with the diff and shock oil (unlike the losi). AND theres a nicer shell - LFR Patriot - which then makes its look the part! Stampede and Schumacher 21 XTR-3e 3 speed have bids already, so watch this space!
  5. thanks @Jumperfor the Tekno reminder. I discounted Tekno after the comments in the rc news thread, but now swaying to an ET48 2.0, as the 8IGHT XTE doesnt seem a basher. The ET48 seems to be a basher and durable, but ugly! There does seem to be a nicer triggy body for it... And after reading reviews some put it over the mugen equivalent....
  6. Hi @Stormbringer, Apologies, I didn’t mention the ST Pro is still available brand new, and prices are good on modelsport. The XTE is reduced to under £700 too… I’ve been interested in an ST Pro for a while, and then the thought of ..... would an XTE avoid the faff of drilling holes and shaving things off posts here and there .... while costing roughly 300 beer tokens more. And I’m realistic any truggy will pop a shock, bend a tower, bend the chassis attempting silly jumps. I’d also consider other brands like the Kyosho; the ST Pro appeal is the £300 ish cost saving, with maybe not as sharp handling, and more faff to build as brushless and future diff maintenance. Cheers!
  7. Hi All, Been looking at truggies for a while, and something for the pooch to chase as well as general bashing. Have followed @StormbringerStorms Hyper ST conversion and initially considered a hyper ST Pro with the motor mount, battery tray and servo mount mods, and maybe a higher end Losi 8 XTE. As the Hyper ST Pro is 10 years old, and its successor the SS is not as sturdy, was wondering peoples thoughts if the £300+ extra cost of a Losi 8 XTE is worth it over a ST Pro. Have seen other Losi 8 XTE posts suggesting they are as bomb proof as a ST Pro, and the benefit the Losi 8 XTE comes with all the brushless bits without additional spend, won’t require any additional drilling of holes and all engine mount holes will be fully covered. Wondering if the Losi 8 XTE is lighter and has better performance, but as not racing, I wont take advantage of. The Tekno and Mugen truggies don’t seem available in the UK, which could have been in consideration. The Losi 8 XTE also appeals with the easy access to diffs etc. Will be selling a vintage (v1) Stampede and a vintage Schumacher 21 XTR-3e 3 speed, and ultimately looking to get the best bang for my buck with reliability! I've a Hyper 7 so use to stripping and building a Hobayo. Cheers!
  8. Good call on the mole-grips, shall try something.. Chees aagain.
  9. Ta @lorrylemming, no slipper, just a nut directly on the shaft. Shall heed with caution and sell as it is. Cheers!
  10. Hi All, I’ve got a Traxxas Stampede brushed 2WD fully working runner from the late 1990s. Everything is original, including the mechanical speed controller & Acoms Techniplus Alpha radio. I considered converting it to brushless but thought better of it as the power would likely damage the transmission and gearing? Checked and it does not have a slipper clutch. Would brushless be too much for it? If so I was thinking of selling, to finance an LC racing EMB-T. The car is in almost new (albeit old!) condition, but the shell has a split in it… so a shame to wreck it if brushless will be too strong for the transmission. Cheers!
  11. Thanks @Nitroholic, I plumped for the fastrax tool, thought it worth a try. It was relatively easy to get the shoes off, but can I get them back on..?! I might need an engine locking tool..!
  12. Hi All, Q1 Will be embarking on taking apart/putting clutch shoes back (Hyper 7 clutch is original!), and wondering if the spring tools, such as the HPI Clutch Shoe Spring Tool or EDS Racing Products Buggy Clutch Spring Tool are better than the generic/Special Clutch Tool? Have read that the generic tool can snap. Q2 The clutch shoes on an engine bought off ebay have a mix of black and gold springs, which I don’t think is right, based on the gold being a differing tension? The engine has never been run, and no markings on the inside of the clutch bell. Also the springs don’t line up with the groove andlook as though they will rub on/touch the clutch bell by the looks of it. I guess I’m better off buying new shoes and springs – is https://www.modelsport.co.uk/product/answer-rc-3-shoe-clutch-high-bite-low-wear-clutch-w-3pks-springs-422932 better/more preferable to the fastrax ones? https://wheelspinmodels.co.uk/i/72647/. I’m assuming it’s got the fastrax blue shoes currently (albeit gouged). Cheers!
  13. Thanks Fred, I did consider afterwards I'd have to put the higher capacity battery after the lower capacity battery, but didnt consider or understand a risk of mixing cell types. I've got a 2S lipo too, so either go with anither lipo or NIMH pack, but rather go with NIMHs as less volatile. Cheers again
