  1. Today I finally reattached the heat sink to the top of the K4.6 after thoroughly cleaning it with carb cleaner. Cleaned off the old cap screws and applied some fresh threadlock and seated it back down. Hopefully next week when i get some time (~~work is bloody busy today) I'll start the savvy up again, fingers crossed it has no leaks this time and is able to idle.
  2. My K4.6 gasket has died/disintegrated/whatever after many years sat in an attic (see What did you do to your RC today thread) I've seen several online, and looks like the ofiicial ones have a 0.15mm and 0.3mm in the pack. HPI part number 15228. Which one do people use or recommend? 🤔 I have a little knowledge of gaskets and compression but that's for 2 Stroke Motocross and classic Jap bikes Or are there any other gaskets with the same internal diameter I can get? (I have to admit, I haven't measured the inside of the K.4.6 cylinder with a digital caliper yet)
  3. Update (different day so excuse the technical double post) Today, I got it running after 10 minutes of pull start madness and several loosening and tightening of the glow plug, blowing the fuel into the chamber etc. But it revved like a dragster, wouldn't idle, so I thought it was just too lean. Then I noticed the spray of fuel around the engine and it looks like the gasket in the K4.6 has died (it has been sitting for 10 or more years) On the plus side, I know it still works! YAY! 😆
  4. Today, I put my new hump pack (Thanks MSUK) on to charge, the charger runs off my car battery, so I'll get about half charge before I go home, and will put it back on tomorrow mornig. I fitted new AA's to the transmitter. (Thanks MSUK) I charged my new glow start (Thanks MSUK) and tested the very old glow plug thats in the K4.6 and it worked. Got the Fuel (thanks MSUK) ready. So tomorrow, I hope to get my Savage running for the first time in, well, a long time. 🤞
  5. Excellent. Wasn't sure if it was the voltage that limited it or the wattage. Thanks for your knowledge 👍
  6. So, dusting off (literally) my Savage 25 and need a new hump pack. My question is, should I stick with a 6v 1600 or would the extra power of a 4200 be useful? Would it even be too much and fry the receiver? So, worth the extra money or just overkill? I had upgraded the servos, back in the day, and it now has an HPI 2.4Ghz transmitter and receiver upgrade, running Proline Big Joe tyres (so quite heavy) but may go back to the Dirt Bones to stop shredding diffs as the front diff is first mechanical thing I need to fix (replace) before running.
  7. This also helps solve my first question without really asking it. I've seen a lot of "FlySky" stuff online but didn't know anything about them. Only gonna be using it for bashing so as long as it does the basics with a half decent range (I don't wanna be going silly distances like 500m to pick it up when I land it on its roof haha) and stable signal strength.
  8. Fantastic, just what I needed to hear. Not looking for a top of the the range Futaba or anything. A nice basic set is fine as long as it's reliable. 👍
  9. Hey all, I've been out of the hobby for a good few years now (probably about 8 😵 ). I owned a Savage and a Hyper 7 after getting into nitro in around 2006. Ish. I ended up flogging the Hyper 7 as I wasn't using it much and prefer flinging the savage around. The Savage 25 has a K4.6 in it, a few aluminium upgrades, exhaust, towers etc. and a three speed transmission, but has been sat in storage in an attic. I'm going to dig it out soon and have a look over it and see what needs doing. I joined here because I know I need a new transmitter and haven't been in the loop for a long time. - I foolishly left the last one on a curb while packing away into the car and drove off. Went back to the spot 20mins later and it was nowhere to be seen. The front diff was also completely stripped, but I have a replacement ready (in a toolbox somewhere) Looking forward to mesing around with the truck again soon and seeing what's going on these days. 👍
