  1. @Microspeed how are you getting on with the MAX8 ESC? Cooked my ESC looking for a replacement, anyone selling the factory ESC or is the max8 a worthy upgrade?
  2. @tomr how are you getting on with the new wheels? Do they cope well on high speed runs?
  3. Are these suitable for the dr8? https://www.modelsport.co.uk/product/pro-line-badlands-mx28-hp-28in-all-terrain-belted-truck-tyres-mounted-6x30-raid-wheels-12mm-hex-2--447354
  4. Any recommendations for a cheap replacement set of tyres for the dr8. 3 of mine are torn 😞
  5. Upgraded the pinion from 12t to 14t experienced no overheating issues with the motor 14t broke fitted 16t went out for a run yesterday open area on grass and boy does it shift to the point where it's uncontrollable, at speed it was doing wheelies and rolled over a few times. I think the rear needs to be more weighted down, although I had removed the rear tyre off the back which may have played a part. Also on 16t the ESC and motor was really hot to the point where I presume the safety cut off kicked in to prevent damage so couldn't use until temps dropped. 5 mins later was back in action. Safe bet would be to stick with 14t or 15t? And if going beyond that you would definitely need to fit cooling to the motor and a more robust fan on the heatsink
  6. A month out of action as pinion broke, took the car out for a run yesterday with a surpass hobby 14t pinion. Speed runs on gravel and grass was great fun! But the pinion broke again, lost one tooth! Seems if you do high speed runs and braking things break! What brand pinions are people using? anything better out there? Just a headache having to strip it down again to replace the pinion again!
  7. Spoke to ftx technical support who advised it is normal where the left wheel will not turn as much/fully lockout in comparison to the right wheel. The chap I spoke to said it's quite common not just with ftx models Also I think it's mentioned here or elsewhere the servo saver link/horn at full lock hits the blue motor mount, which also will affect the left wheel from fully locking out
  8. Yep, although I noticed it binds against the front blue mount so I've adjusted it so it doesn't hit the metal but still have the same issue
  9. Thanks! Tightened up the silver servo saver nut which has significantly improved the steering, However steering to the right works perfectly fully locks out whereas the left the steering throw isn't as much compared to the right, is this normal?
  10. Replaced the servo with a 25kg DS3225 but still have the same issue the wheels are hardly turning. I haven't used the car for a while, last used was on grass and I didn't bother cleaning it, could something within the steering/wheels, hub, knuckle etc be seized? Thoughts would be appreciated
  11. Was thinking to go 35kg to be on the safe side or do you think that's overkill?
  12. Replaced the pinion to 14t I dare not going any higher with the stock tyres, they ballooned so much to the point I thought they'll explode! On 6s What are the signs of a failed servo?, noticed it turns ok to the left but to the right there is not much movement Any recommendations for a cheap Chinese alternative?
  13. Can anyone kindly upload a close up of the pinion gear and spur gear for the DR8 Its my first time replacing the pinion gear (as the original broke) but unsure whether it should be centred, flush or offset left/right to the spur gear Thanks
  14. @Microspeed which tyres did you order form AliExpress, do you have a link?
  15. Made a costly mistake, had to replace the stock pinion gear so removed the hex screws, all were removed but one! Applied too much force and the hex bit broke into the head screw! Was left with no choice but to try and drill it out, the head of the hex broke off which left the thread part of the screw in the blue motor mount!. Tried also drilling this out but failed and has damaged the internal thread of the mount 😞 So long story short need a new motor mount £20! Is the cheapest i could find! And a new hex screw In hindsight not sure if it would have helped as it was solid likely with excessive threadlock, should have sprayed some wd40 and some heat to it Lesson learnt! When reassembling is it necessary to apply a tiny amout of blue lock thread to the hex screws and the pinion gear?
