Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year all! Another year to RC’ing 😉

Looks like there is a 1/6 Losi Lasernut on the way!

Merry Christmas!

Losi Promoto finally on the way after ordering back in Oct. Excited!
-
Of all things, I didn’t expect my nectar card to get hacked lol. Spoke to nectar and they are sending a replacement card with double the amount taken. Can’t complain!
-
It’s a bit worrying when you order a replacement bank card and one turns up in someone else’s name but to my address. How can you get it so wrong?
-
Not sure who on earth that grogg guy was responding to the dog poo status but he’s banned. Got bored of reading through his rubbish. Thanks for the reports 👍🏽

I know it’s been asked before but any recommendations for an electric screwdriver for RCs? 1/10 scale to 1/5 please. Dewalt 10v?

Turn it left loosey or turn it righty tighty 🤣🤣🤣
The motion and speed is controlled with your wrist action. Its actually really good especially for RC work where you can really finely adjust the speed as opposed to a trigger. Being able to adjust the torque means less likely to strip anything (although i never fully tighten with power tools - many lessons learnt)
-
I see, that does sound interesting. Though i'm not sure about not being able to finely adjust torque via trigger, i think that depends on the trigger itself (whether or not it's soft etc).
And yeah.. last turn always by hand.
That gyroscopic thing does sound cool mind, gotta see if they have something with that mechanism at our hardware store. Though, not as cool as i thought it'd be when i heard "spinny thing" (Gyroscope). 😄

So i offered someone £500 MORE than the asking price for a vintage Tamiya but the seller is adamant that it’s going to the buyer who wanted it first.
I completely understand the term ‘first come first served’ but it’s costing you £500. Fair play for not being greedy but you’re selling yourself short!!

Anyone ordered from Modeltune before?

Just ordered a vanquish vs410 phoenix from them. Spoke on phone several times all good. They emailed me on Thursday saying my truck had arrived and asked me to pay the balance of my pre-order, which I did on Friday. Got an email this morning saying my truck had shipped via dpd.
Communication has been good so can't complain at the moment. I'll see how the box has been packaged when I get the delivery next week.

DJI mini 2 fly more combo is currently on sale at Costco for £429 - Bargain from the £550 RRP!

What should have been a 5 second trip to the garden, has ended up in a trip to the pharmacy after major redness / itchiness and swelling. This turned into an emergency doctors appointment and now resulted in antibiotics, elevated arm, plenty of water and antihistamine…. Whatever bit me done a very good job!

Anyone clued up on steam engines? Need some info on this, think it’s 1/5 scale?

Any recommendations for a good solid folding knife? I’ve had enough of replacing Stanley blades just for cutting open boxes and thick cardboard!

Tried the snap off blades?

Even the plastic fantastic 9mm budget one (couple quid new) is sturdy enough, and sharp

Scumbags have decided to break into my brothers empty property he is currently developing and steal nothing but Makita powertools. Entered and left via a small living room window. Thankfully they did not damage anything inside or my 1:1 parked in the garage. I guess it could have been worse....

I was working down Wolverhampton and West Brom way for my employer doing electrical inspections. My van is a dark grey double cab Transit that looks more like a minibus so survived the trip but lads with white vans were getting hit regularly outside the Travelodge car park in West Brom.
Cops couldn't get a handle on it and you know the courts would give them a slappn the wrist anyway. If you laid in wait to give them a hiding you can guarantee they'd throw the book at you.
-
As with any petty theft of this type ..... it only happens because idiots think it's OK to buy cheap knocked off power tools.
Oh nice..,I got a £300 tool for £50 down the car boot.
If they stopped doing that, then the market dries up and the thieves will stop thieving power tools.
What the fools don;t realise, it that after they build up their collection of stolen power tools, they are now a target of the very trade they helped maintain.
-
Last attempted theft I had was Leeds Ibis hotel car park, went out for dinner, came back to a folded side door. Tools were on the job, so I lost nothing. However, the insurance company tried to triple my premium because the van had three grands worth of damage. Not insuring with them again, protected no claims meant nothing! What a rip.

Another year older today. Cannot believe the years go by so fast!

Wouldn’t mind an Xmaxx but knowing my luck they will release a V2 the moment it comes out the box and gets used lol

Wouldn't buy a large Arrma ever, not even with someone else's money. You have to spend the purchase price again in upgrades. They're pitiful. Awful plastics and bendy ally.
My KM X2 is a weapon, sent and never bent. Yet I also know people who've bent genuine Losi 5ive's without even jumping them. Go figure.
Any plastic becomes brittle in the cold, simple answer is don't run it in winter.
Despite loathing Traxxas, I'd take an X-Maxx over an Arrma all day long.

A quick reminder to everyone for this weekend - The clocks go forward 🕰️

Any recommendations for the strongest tyre glue on Modelsport?

Which 2/3s brushless Off road RC out the box would you say is best guys - From personal experience?

Is the Xmaxx really as good as they say? What are the downsides?

I find the X-Maxx quite easy to lug around. The wheelie bar is a very convenient carrying handle, and it doesn't weigh much for the size. You'll appreciate that once you have lugged a DBXL-E around, which in the end i had to DRAG on a line behind me because by the time i got where i wanted to be, i just couldn't be arsed to collect my arms that had fallen off half a mile away, and wanted to get home.
As Guns pointed out, switch to Max6 immediately, and that's it. The truck is, for the moment, perfect. He's correct about the rear hubs, but they don't need doing immediately. I've driven mine quite a while on standard hubs and worked just fine. Mine came with an indestructible shell, so no goo for me.
All in all, and i say that as a certified Traxxas-"disser", it's probably the best RC on the market if you can stomach the price. It just is. The only downside to it is that it's expensive - as in, high price of admission, not overpriced like the Maxx.

Many thanks for the multiple reports gents. Ban hammer has gone down lol

The dreaded customs letter is now on its way to me. Come on its Christmas let me off 🙃
