  1. Thanks for getting back to me. It was more of a clicking sound rather than the buzzing sound it makes when adjusting the steering trim. I will double check to be sure.
  2. Hi all, Recently purchased an FTX Comet for my son. Its been run once (full capacity of battery used). Recharged and then just a brief run. Switched it on yesterday and noticed a clicking sound from the steering servo. Seems to run and steer fine, the sound stopped. But after powering off and on again, the sound returned. Should this be of any concern? Could there be a potential fault with the steering servo?
  3. Thanks! The 1700mah battery seems like a decent upgrade. Out of stock via the link above but will try to hunt one down. Your upgrades sound great. We're new to this hobby, so just wondering if those upgrades are straightforward from a DIY perspective?
  4. Thanks. I'll give this a go. It comes supplied with a 6.2v battery. Are there any potential issues I should be aware of if running a 7.4v on stock setup? (sorry, still learning ☺️)
  5. Hi all, Thinking about purchasing a FTX Comet (example link - FTX Comet) but I've read the battery supplied as standard does not have much run time. Any recommendations for a battery with longer run time and one that I can charge with the charger supplied as standard? At this stage, only looking for a battery to extend run time. May consider further upgrades later down the line. Also, any potential weak/negative points to consider for this type of RC car?
  6. Thanks both. Will keep both options in mind and get back to you as soon as possible. I've watched a few videos of the FTX Vantage and Traxxas Rustler. Judging by the speed, I think it may be better suited for my daughter (few yrs older and has also taken interest in RCs as potential new hobby!). I'll send you guys a message if I need any further info/if possible to meet up πŸ™‚
  7. Hi all, Looking to purchase a used electric RC car (decent aesthetic and mechanical condition) for my son. (I am considering purchasing a new FTX Vantage as they don't seem to expensive. However, knowing he can sometimes get bored at times and also being a beginner, I'd rather purchase a used example to begin with) Has to be fully ready to run, reliable/well made and something which will run close to 30 mins. So I guess one with a Lipo type battery will be required. My sons requirements, "it has to be fast* and can handle jumps". So make that the occasional dodgy landing (on grass). Although I'm sure he'll try to avoid doing so and no building of ramps! Fast is a relative term and being a beginner, I think something which has the stock speed of for example a FTX Vantage will suffice. I'm based in Coventry. Car is required for next weekend as a surprise gift. Happy to cover delivery costs or collect if within 30-60min drive.
  8. Hello all. Thanks for welcome messages. Ant.p - Thanks for the detailed advice. Really appreciate it. I'll have a look into the Ftx Carnage. The idea of modifying items sounds like so much fun but one step at a time 😁
  9. Forgot to add - Does anyone have experience with the WLToys 124019? This model seems to get grear reviews. Is it a robust and reliable model? The plan is to use the car on tarmac and grass too. Will I need specific tyres for each surface or is there a set which will be compatible with both? Thanks ☺
  10. Hello all, Totally new to the world of RC cars and hoping to take it up as a casual hobby with my son. I was sure there would be a forum for like minded individuals and thought I'd sign up 😁 Initially started to look at Nitros but after some reading, I have opted to go for an electric model. Especially as I would prefer something which doesn't require as much maintenance and fewer parts to go wrong. So just wondering which brands I should consider and do I opt for a brushed or brushless motor. I've read good things about Tamiya models. Any other suggestions would be welcome. My son's requirements are: "It has to be fast and can do jumps!" πŸ˜ƒ. This was after he watched a YouTube video on a review of a Tamiya Dark Impact. Looking forward to your replies and eventually purchasing our first rc car too!
