  1. You might as well buy at source! https://www.injora.com/products/313-324mm-wheelbase-cherokee-body-cab-with-back-half-cage-for-1-10-rc-crawler?variant=39449049858096 As for the GT85 smell - buy a can! Its like WD40 mixed with that terrible silicon plastic shine car dealer use, but things come out ace! https://www.halfords.com/cycling/bike-maintenance/bike-lube/gt-85-bike-lubricant-400ml-477653.html?istCompanyId=b8708c57-7a02-4cf6-b2c0-dc36b54a327e&istFeedId=367c5610-f937-4c81-8609-f84582324cd6&istItemId=xmprti&istBid=t&_$ja=tsid:|cid:17632965067|agid:|tid:|crid:|nw:x|rnd:3259919059579855596|dvc:c|adp:|mt:|loc:1006518&gclid=Cj0KCQjw_O2lBhCFARIsAB0E8B9oMM6a50V29Ze4IYmTNzZEvCtv2rsUNh7QRSMYx4l_fMs_kN8p4ksaAujIEALw_wcB

  4. Sounds a good weekend out, your lad should be well chuffed with 90mph 👍 You really ought to make a trophy for fastest upside down through the traps though 😎
  5. Short shocks, tamiya truck (hex hub) 1.7” wheels and Lesu 4x4 tyres 👹 Well its a thought! https://www.elitemodelsonline.co.uk/Cars/By-Manufacturer/Lesu/Wheels-Tyres/92337-/Lesu-114-22mm-Off-Road-Tyres-Pair https://www.ebay.co.uk/p/765511719
  6. How about a coat a clear metalic/pearl before the BRG goes on?
  7. Very coo indeed!! Sorry for derailing the thread 😇
  8. Last weekend I was in Newark with these guys and I had a great weekend, parked up here with a few of the boys from the West Essex Model Truck Enthusiasts 👍 https://www.ukrctruckersnationalgathering.co.uk I do have a unlocked front axle now so my tipper steers a bit happier, even if its lost a bit of off road flexibility, barring a few detail changes its still the same rig. I will let the photos do the talking! I’m still getting it grubby and so was everyone else!
  9. I’m entering this at Rossa next year as its 1/14th 😇 😉
  10. Cheers boys! I was here this weekend: https://www.ukrctruckersnationalgathering.co.uk
  11. So been out for a quick crawl, articulation is great, but the links do hang up. It would probably benefit from a stronger servo too. Those Minster Beetle CVA shocks are scandals to a crawler connoisseur but they handle the cab weight just perfectly. The soft rear shocks are usual crawler specs though. However I built as a trail truck not a full on rock crawler so I’m pleased with the outcome 👍
  12. I wish i could take the credit I just bolted it together!
  13. First time out off the bench it works! Surprisingly well and not as slow as I worried it might be either. Obviously its like a crude Tonka compared to some of this kit, but then again I’m not finished detailing either! Approach and departures angles were impressive too, it just kept pushing.
  14. The body that came with it is fitted to it! A sort of MAN/Eastern bloc military double cab mash up.From a simpler time, the steel/allloy shell is the same as the chassis rails is quite impressive even if it wont really win scale points. As mentioned previously Radshape racing constructed it to fit an AX10 clone called a Maverick Scout. The rear dropside only has a rear flap, and the cab needs detailing, lights, mudflaps, exhausts, badging and an interior but I’m happy for now 👍 Don’t look too closely at the paint or the runs - its going to be gently scuffed and used this weekend! Rear mudguards will get a coat of grey to match the chassis, and I have a tow hook for the rear crossmember to fit. Jurys out on wether the dropside body stays au natural. Battery goes under the (ajar) toolbox behind the cab. I’m looking forward to playing with it!
  15. So I completed and painted the chassis, and gave it a few tweaks. Because of the SCX clone transmission coupled to the TRX4 portals the reduction is huge so I’m running a 15 turn 540 with a 87t spur and a mystery pinion (well its gold, that much I know!) I‘m hoping the torque ought to be ample. I added Traxxas servos for the diff locks for front and centre axles, but my experience in RC semi’s has taught me to leave the back axle unlocked or you can‘t turn the a thing this long.Shocks, oil and springs still need playing with, its quite weighty with the body work attached, so much so those are monster beetle CVA’s and springs on the front! Axles are stock TRX4 but I did oil the bearings and regrease with Vanquish grease. The front axle has an Injora truss and 4 links in lieu of a panhard rod. Most of the parts were cribbed from Jenny’s. To hold the diff servos an alloy Boom racing servo holder got hacked and filed to fit. Finally a trusty 1080 was fitted. Now I just need to test run in the wild, but with coachwork 🤠
  16. Mainly about how they transferred from timber yard to wooden model maker to plastic kit manufacturer, very little RC content but very interesting all the same.
  17. Who knows why I posted nut spinners not hex drivers 🤣 I have a very nice set of PB swiss though!
  18. I have a set of these for unusual occasions: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Bessel-VESSEL-precise-driver-TD-57/dp/B000CEF5SQ?th=1
  19. Read an old book about Tamiya in the middle of the Atlantic 🤣
  20. @RC4WD fan How do you find the cage tubes for these? Are they thick enough to look right, been looking on Asiatees as I have a battered Gellande in my possession!
  21. Its an illusion - I’d be forever traipsing over go where it had fell over 🤣
  22. I built mine from a kit @Stormbringer I think I will try that @RC4WD fan see if it shuts it up!
