  1. Chassis done! All standard… except the 3D print 1080 holder, the Bowhouse LCG tray, the alloy Yeah racing servo mount, Bronco arches with clip fittings and 2 speed gearbox. But except for that all standard 🤣 I will add these pictures of the Bowhouse tray, note the different rear chassis brace which is pretty sturdy. I have put 3mm shock spacers under the tray mounts so I could run my cables underneath without crushing. Downsides - Hobbywing 1080 is a bit tight on receiver lead if you use the standard receiver box - I put an extension servo lead inside rather than have it taught. Also the standard Traxxas grub with the 9 tooth pinon is proud (of the teeth)and extremely close to the spur, so I did slide the pinon further out (off centre of the spur) just incase. The motor mount is an alloy one but both this and the factory one still wobbled the top of the spur housing, will keep an eye on both those things. Reading forums its seems quite common however. I may swap the pinon out after a test trail for a larger one yet. Other thoughts? I will say its bloody heavy - It is built like a 70’s Mercedes and weighs the same too! Front rear balance - with a shorty battery it tips forward, with a regular battery it still tips forward too.
  2. Should be finished by 2023 🤣
  3. So I finally got back to the box of TRX-4 bits! This step is the front and rear locked axles (also referred as spool) and an underdrive for the rear axle. This should give a 13% overdrive even though I’m using the stock front differential - ratio 3.09:1, with the accessory rear ratio of 3.5:1 . For the gearbox I’m using a 45/9 transmission ratio, I don’t think I can gear much lower. Just as well I like it slow! Really not keen on red diff covers, but I’m too tight to buy two so only the rear is getting a black one on! What you get in the kit: The difference in the gears, spool the same, underdrive on the left kit gears on the right. I have chose SSD portal weights on the front that are really nicely made, if a little sharp in places. Minus cheapskate points for SSD not including the two front screws only those on the back. I upgraded all other screws to stainless and as mentioned and trying Vanquish grease on the gears, its seems quite free spinning, hopefully it is. The other thing I’m trying is a C.L.P. oil - Cleans Lubricates Penetrates. Intended for guns lets see if it works on CVD driveshafts! Finally the completed axles 👍
  4. Jack videos great but that Euro-disco-health spa music is doing my head in! Looks a nice spot to go crawling though 👍
  5. You could try here: https://www.bspspares.co.uk/collections/all/shock-springs
  6. Look carefully to the right of the rear wheel…. Yep its a slip on shoe ageing gracefully 🤣
  7. Found some Mud! Yes it was bloody stuck…..😁
  8. Not sure yet, but I may just get another body set you know!
  9. Finally found a rock face in Essex, ok it was closer to a very big pebble 🤣
  10. A cracking pressie off my postie today 👍 Lets no forget kids 😉 From the days of No bashing and spare sets of crystals!
  11. Went for a stroll, quite a tricky day out as just wet enough still to clog the tyres wherever you went - wheelspin and hop on any challenging incline! Still everywhere looks lush and green 👍
  12. Hey Hell Horn I can picture it now, thats really quite ingenious yet as with all good ideas obvious! Barring dirt ingress in the rims, possibly causing any obstruction are there any downsides?
  13. Hey Hell Horn could you explain how the weight hanger wheels work please?
  14. Decals but with a clear flat lacquer over the black arches.
  15. I’d say they are as quick as each other! Crawlmaster is super smooth low speed, Trailmaster has a better drag brake. I like a full 100% drag brake on a low turn 45+ turn motor, however on a low turn 21/27 turn motor it will hurt the gearbox when you (effectively) near enough stop itself dead if you come on the throttle sharpish! You can have fun trying the 1080 programmer with different settings (and a hill!). Go for the crawlmaster this time round 👍 Read through the Homles advice, the Mauler gearbox and ratios is effectively an Axial AX10 copy so take the gearing advice on his site too, buy a RW pinion and a spare spur FTX gear off someone like Modelsport too. https://holmeshobbies.com/motor-recommendations If your beach running a set of rubber shielded bearings might be a good service part, the 2 gearbox to propshaft outputs and each axle propshaft output seem to go first. https://www.rcbearings.co.uk/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=2182
  16. And I prefer the Trailmaster 😁 Either is good, I have tried both and have one of each in two similar trucks running your transmission!
  17. Come on Jack your in your honeymoon period, give it a few months and you will be cursing it 🤣 Unless its the one…… 😳
  18. Theres a really good holmes hobbies video for setting up the 1080 on youtube.
  19. Too north for me 😁 but have a great day of it 👍
  20. Maybe its not the transmission? Bent motor shaft? Collapsed bearing in motor?
  21. The ones I’ve seen, the ones I like have natural material obstacles (rocks/logs etc) so it doesn’t look like a half filled skip out your kitchen window.
