  1. That rubber netting that people use to stop their phone sliding off the dashboard works well.
  2. Swapping spur and pinion for steel ones is fit and forget. They eat gravel for breakfast.
  3. A 2s lipo will be fine, just make sure you set yr esc to lipo so you don't fully discharge it👍
  4. I completely stalled with this project. It’s so bloody fiddly, it’d started feeling like work rather than play. Then I realised that if I wanted the wiring to be as neat as I’d like it to be, I needed to back up a few steps. I’ve almost completely disassembled it and will use heat shrink on the chassis rails to feed the wires through, keep them neat and partially hidden.
  5. It's only a little Tamiya tt02 with rally wheels on it. Tx is a fs-gt5 (same as yours?). The RX that came in the box with it is in a different car. This receiver was bought separately, which might be something to do with the "not supported" messages?? It's hardly essential but I was curious.
  6. As an afterthought to all my waffle 👆 It crossed my mind that it might just be a faulty RX? Not sure how likely that is? I have another RX linked to that TX in a different car. I shall try messing with the settings on that. See if I get the “not supported” message again. Never thought to try it before as the other car is a crawler 😂
  7. How did you get on with this @Rustic Ade? I had another go with it today but had a bit of a weird one….. maybe someone can explain this? I decided to try and be a bit methodical about it by driving round the same bit of car park and playing with the settings so I could understand how they affected the handling of the car a bit better. BUT When I tried to open the menu to adjust the settings, the TX flashed up a message that said “SVC not supported”. Which is really odd. When SVC (gyro) is turned on, the steering turns and motor speed drops as you waggle the car.?? Discovered that if I turn the RX off and change settings on the TX, that the changes are applied when I turn the RX back on again. 🤷‍♂️ The only thing I can’t do is calibrate it, as to do this the RX has to be turned on and I just get the “not supported” message. Was just starting to get my head round some of it, when I lost a front dog bone and drive cup and that was playtime over for the day. But why the F does it say function not supported when it clearly is?
  8. I mean a tiny drop of 3 in 1 oil on the bushes each end. After I’ve cleaned it. Let it “soak in” for a bit and wipe off the excess. In the past, I’ve found dunking a motor in a tub of water and giving it full throttle for a while cleans out surprising amounts of dirt. Keep changing the water til it stops getting dirty, then hang the motor up in the airing cupboard to dry out. It works wonders. 👍
  9. Drove my Element Enduro into a puddle which turned out to be a bit deeper than expected. Then it just stopped. Steering still worked but wheels wouldn’t turn. My first thought was that water had got into the receiver box, and there was some, but only a few drops. I thought I’d better just check nothing had jammed the drivetrain but the wheels turned fairly easily, so it wasn’t that. The next suspect was the ESC, but it’s a Hobbywing 1080 and I’ve never had one fail on me. As I pondered I turned the wheels again and a lump of mud fell out of the motor. I gave the throttle trigger a squeeze and the wheels turned but mud literally sprayed out of the motor vents, into my face. I’m guessing there was so much mud in there it stopped the brushes from working? A 1st for me, anyone else had this happen? Thankfully much cheaper than a new ESC or RX. Looks like I need to dunk the motor in some water and give it a good clean and lube.
  10. Mid 20’s for me. No1 all over, sorted.
  11. I’ve been wrestling with the same issue. Just gave up and turned it off. Useful thread 👍
  12. Funnily enough I’m the opposite. When I did shave I got terrible skin irritation. Nobody moisturised in late 70’s. As soon as I was able, I grew a beard. So really it’s hats off to you clean shaven guys. Dragging sharpened blades across your face on a daily basis. Beards are for softies
  13. My wife isn't keen, but I asked how she'd react if I tried to tell her how to wear her hair.🤷‍♂️
  14. I stop trimming every September and am the Santa for my local museums Christmas fair every year. 🤣 I haven’t been properly clean shaven for over 30 years.
  15. If I ever get round to selling my bike, I will have slightly more than that…..so this has been a question that’s plagued me for a while. 🤔
  16. Hats off to you Sir. Brilliant. I can’t help imagining gulls wearing tiny flying helmets, swooping in to do “bombing” runs 🤣
  17. I have. Badly. Reckon your D90 bumpers will look way better tbh. Did something simpler for the Element…. Aluminium rod cut to length. Used a heavier rod for the actual bumper. Drilled and tapped the ends of the smaller rods that slide in where the stock bumper fitted. Highly recommend Macc Models https://maccmodels.co.uk/product-category/materials/aluminium-sections/ as a source for raw materials. A thread tapping tool would be useful if you go this way.
  18. Yes. I’m really chuffed. It’s just been sat on the shelf for about a year. I’d made it pretty unusable 🤦‍♂️ 4000kv brushless system on 3s with slick tyres. Needed lots of space and the slightest bump would see it cart wheeling at 35mph. Now it’s much easier to use and it’s a giggle
  19. Swapped the brushless motor for a brushed one and took it for a test drive. Handled really well and had me grinning like an idiot. So much more useable than it was before. Slower obviously but there’s something quite relaxing about 2S on a brushed motor, didn’t crash once.😁 Really pleased with the Kamtec chassis cover I got. Kept everything nice and clean. Will shorten those motor/ESC wires (maybe solder them direct?) and put a deans plug on instead of that adaptor. Tidy everything up a bit. But basically, for a relatively small outlay, it feels like I have a new car. Really pleased. 👍
  20. It’s called the Raikiri. Means something cool to do with swords I think? It wasn’t my first choice but I got it during one of the lockdowns. When everyone had decided to buy a RC car so everything was out of stock. I quite like it tbh but perhaps not as a rally car.
