  1. definately go for the kit, the plastic steering arms are rubbish on all the rtr`s as for upgrades, more steering lock, look on ebay at seller rcmart/dinball he does 3 racing steering knuckles/c hubs/cvd driveshafts this makes tons of difference when on full lock (turns much tighter) depends on if you want to run in water but i use a traxxas xl5 esc in mine which is ok but if you want something with drag brakes go for a rooster or tekin fxr (crawler one) steering servo can be done a few ways too, if going to be used in water, i use the tower pro mg996 servos, about £6 each from hong kong, mines been in for over a year and been under water too with no problems or go for a savox 0251 or 1256tg both will give buckets of turning power (the tower pro ones do too) are you running or plan running it on lipo`s? if yes dont bother with the battery tray mod if running nimh`s then yes move the battery tray up front. go to a kwik fit or similar, get some of the stick on alloy wheel balance weights (bout 3 strips for each front wheel and 3 strips for both rears) they will look at you funny but its a lot cheaper than buying them off ebay. use some motor grub screws to fill the holes in the axle tops too to stop water and dirt getting in there. have loads of fun, great truck which no other company will beat for now at least......... if you need any more help, give me a shout, only too happy to help, gaz.
  2. i use a 100w sealey iron heats up very quickly. the only downside is the big tip. can be found in most automotive suppliers, think mine was
  3. had one sold it and bought another. very fast! swap the kit wheels/tyres with standard tamiya touring car wheels/tyres for grip if you dont fancy sliding everywhere. i ran mine on 2s lipo and was ballistic!! the esc has a trainer mode if you want to slow it down too. i would say shop around though mate, good deals to be had if you dont mind looking. go for it in my opinion.
  4. hi, ive just finished my mad monkey basher. i bought the brushed kit, set of bearings, ansmann spikey tyres, spektrum sr300 receiver and bullistorm (ezrun/xerun?) 5.5t motor and esc with stock gearing. is this ok?? or would it be better to swap to something else?? well, heres the pics comments welcomed........ thanks for looking, gaz.
  5. i have just bought a mad monkey for a basher and the transmission is identical to a b4 as are the c-hubs steering system and front arms. other than the chassis (mid motor mount), rear arms, shock towers and the ansmann runs 12mm hex`s. its very close and some of the b4 bits will fit. i have seen a madrat in hand too and there is just enough differences to please the licensing guys but its VERY similar. i used to race a b4 buggy too so have first hand experience on them.
  6. can anyone blame him?? he ain`t doing bad out of it though. good on him!! good on monster energy too!! this is the new generation cool in a world with all the problems we have!!
  7. i have a aluminium flight case that was on offer at maplins a while ago, still there for
  8. hi, i`ll give these a go, 4 axial scx10 wheels and pro line flat iron tyres in near new condition. the wheels have been painted black and look fantastic with the grey beadlocks. asking
  9. hi lee, electrics in r/c cars vary no end. best thing to do is put up a pic. does it have tamiya stamped on it anywhere?? i know a chinese copy of the tl01 is almost identical. hope this helps.....
  10. looks very nice, that would be worthy of buying another 1/16th chassis for! ill be having one of those then when released......
  11. how about a pair of traxxas 1/16th slashes or revo`s in brushed form, slow enough for the your 3 year old to control and fast enough for your older lad to have some fun with. both good little bashers that do on and off road, 1 lot of bits for both cars. different colours/styles to pick from too.
  12. without seeing pics of the condition etc. i would say between
  13. dont mean to sound rude or anything but, is your receiver aerial extended fully and same on the tx?? i use a dx3s with sr300 and the telemetry receivers and my eyes give up long before the signal, mine is still strong at 200yds (shame about the eyes ) also, dont know if it makes much difference but i use mine in wooded areas, as already been said, wouldn`t have thought interference was a problem when they keep banging on about it in there ads.
  14. hi, having a clear out as my road tax is due soon all prices include postage to uk only. 1, spektrum mr3000 receiver, new in pack, removed only for pics. this will work with a dx3e/s/r with the marine logo on the back. it has twin steering and throttle inputs and ideal for a 8x8 project etc. its also fully waterproof too.
  15. if you let me know what car you have (pics would be good) and some measurements of the esc/fan etc. im sure i could knock something up for you.
  16. could you not make a cage for the esc to fit in, then when it rolls, it will hit the cage and protect the esc/fan. just a thought
  17. hi mate, i can help you with this. do you speed or ability to crawl?? for speed, ditch the axial esc and buy a tamiya 101 esc for less than

    Which Servo

in my own experience, i would say savox or tower pro mg996 servos. the savox run from around
  19. dont know if this helps but up this way scrap is fetching about
  20. hi, been to my lhs today and saw some savox micro servos which look to be the same size as the traxxas ones, asked the guy and he didn`t have a clue so, will these fit or do they need modding to fit?? i run savox servos in my scx10`s and found them superb so naturally wanted to go that route with my 1/16th too. also, is it worth going twin servo or not? i can see the use for 2 on the 1/10 summit etc. but on a 1/16th, would that be overkill?? thanks for all your help, gaz
  21. i always used to use tamiya but then decided with brushless and lipo was better i moved to the losi ec3. wouldn`t use anything else now.
  22. hope you get it sorted mate, what 3s batteries are you using??
