  1. Don't get me wrong it's not a snob thing... its the styling. Just the same way I preferred hpi over traxxas.. when you reach a certain level of expenditure with bikes I think aesthetics become more and more a factor in the process as there will be very little to set bikes apart, like you said your boardman is around the same spec as your buddies commencal. . 9. super nice fella can't beat a bit of vintage kit, proflex were revolutionary when they first hit, as were Girvan flex stems and rock shocks. I remember buying my first shock forks back in 94 they were answer manitou 3s and the cost me 345 quid.. Probably about a grand in today's terms Sent from my GT-N7100 using Tapatalk

  12. yeah I've got to agree, its a great concept but a bike with that limited scope just isn't useful. I read loads of positive thing about then but also there are plenty of folk out there who having ridden one for a couple of months say they're pretty much one trick ponies and no very quick at performing those tricks to boot.. 13. I like genisis bikes I was looking at getting the fat bike they do.. lovely frame sets.. Sent from my GT-N7100 using Tapatalk

  16. I'm doing well imho and am dropping around 2lb a week now, I'm just a shade under 13 and a half stone now and would like to hit 13 and then stay there if possible. Got my new road bike 2 weeks ago s that has been helpful as the house is a right state due to decorating etc so I can use the cross trainer. If any of you are cycling on a regular basis I can highly recommend the map my ride app as a motivational and informative tool to help you get the most out of your rides and its a lot cheaper than a garmin edge.. 19. Well just booked up another two events, ride for life in Thetford forest and a 30 miler sportive called the East Coast classic that runs from my home town of great Yarmouth.. Gotta have a reason to train besides general fitness and goals are the key..
  20. Here's a link to a pic of me from the splash and dash.. http://julianclaxton.jalbum.net/Strumpy%20Splash%20%20Dash%202014/slides/_DSC4749.jpg
  21. don't get me wrong I'm only decrying the look of lycra vs. decent freeride gear, I wear endura humvee mtb shorts and freeride jerseys mostly and for long days in the saddle I most definitely swear by my oh so flattering lycra under shorts with the lovely soft padding also I don't like peakless helmets On a side note I got an email from wheelbase today and my whyte Dorset will be with me soon, to say I'm excited is an understatement..
  22. Good as gold Noj cheers, the mtb ride only lasted 45 mins so it wasn't a slog, the only thing that let the trail down was an slog across an unprepared unmown field being used as the car park which pretty much sapped the legs before some uphill switchbacks.. My old legs were jelly let me tell you and I had to walk halfway up the switchbacks, it was worth it tho because at the top was a cracking singltrack descent into a bomb hole that produced a good sized grin..
  23. The strumpy splash and dash was a pretty decent crack today, only a smattering of mtbrs there though which made for a pretty lonely circuit to ride, the road sportif was clearly very popular so I'm rubbing my hands together now in anticipation of getting my new road bike so I can join in and ruffle a few lycra feathers in my baggy freeride gear..
  24. lycra is not a prerequisite for road riding you'll never catch me in that get up. Ever!
