hey guys i have a thunder tiger dx the old brushed one and im just wondering how it stands in the newbie drift arena as it is my only drifter, so i have nothing to compare it too for drifting basically how would you guys rate it as a drifter? or would my tt-01 be better as a drifter? and also where do i get a pair of decent wheels for it that dont break around where the bolt goes in when using it on slightly bumpy tarmac?

hehe rusty i take it you liked the shot of my hyper 7 black that other time, their great fun and awesome reliability also as dad says we have a load of spare hyper 7 wheel nuts, so a mini meet this week would be awesome

hehe m8 they are far better than sky cigs and cheaper but the same sort of thing, we even mix up our own nicotine liquid with syringes lol, got every flavour from black forest gatuea to cuban cigar what sort of motors were the rustler and bandit running kv wise? also what upgrades do they have over the stock ones? they looked pretty impressive ripping about, im running a 3300kv motor in my bandit xl5 (the stock system from my sparrow hawk xxt truck is in my bandit) with stock gearing and bearings in the wheel hubs instead of bushings, im deffo bringing my bandit next time although the anaconda street tires on it might provide a challenge on that track lol edit: might bring my tamiya sand viper as well as the bandit i can get about 40-50 minutes out of one 2s battery on its 17 turn 540 brushed motor with my bandits xl-5 esc, the motor over heats but keeps going lol

i have a dx3c and it is good range wise and good comfort wise the only problem with it is that it does not have a charging port, and the telemetry on the dx3s is over rated, dad has one

hehe dads hyper st knocker over stefs baja we went out again on a spur of the moment thingy just up the local quarry a few days ago and dads hyper st smacked into a big rock at full speed, his steering link came of the servo and we heard the bang/thud ouch noise it was very loud when it crashed i expected a wreck so just stayed where i was with my hyper 7 getting started on my box, then he brought his st back, which had a massive indent on the bumper and one of the suspension arms and that was the damage.... lol dad said if it was his trophy he would be picking up parts for weeks lol he also ran my ishima into a rock just before that.... i was having trouble gettign it tuned and finally got it almost right then dad had a shot, he whacked the throttle right down and i shouted mind the brakes there isnt any whack lol only broke a plastic connector for a steering rod, he should know by now my nitros dont have brakes lol

hehe late drunk reply was cool meeting other rc guys and im the numpty that brought a ishima and a hyper 7 black then forgot my starter box lmao then used a xxb and a xxt leccys thank god i brought some leccys with me, im wishing i brought my bandit, it would of been awesome fun on the track, since there was a bandit and rustler there, surprisingly the xxt came away with no damage at all cept for a knackered cooling fan on the esc and my xxb came away with no damage as well but a lose motor,esc and receiver lol nothing double sided tape cant fix and a screw driver which is amazing as my xxb came into contact with stefs baja beast thingy lol cant wait to meet u guys again that was good fun an hey rusty pity you couldnt get there m8 oh if any one is wondering what drugs i was using on weird devices that would of been my e-cigs with nicotine and the largest one goes from 3 to 6 volts at a few button presses, stopped smoking for almost 4 weeks now, ego batterys and a lava tube is awesome http://ukvapers.com/

get your self a temp gun if you havent and 25% fuel is the highest i would use in they engines, its what i use in mine, and keep the engine temp below 120 i find with 25% fuel and 111c on the temp to be a sweet spot for that engine for speed and power while staying way under temp plus remember if the weather changes your gonna have to tune it again eg if the temp changes drastically or it starts raining humidity change it will need tuned again, one of the last times i took my hyper out it was a hot day and the next one was a cold day and it wouldnt even start untill i tweaked the needles while on the hot day it was ripping up stuff and running constantly with the same settings that wouldnt start on a cold day

probably a toss up between a hpi brama b and a kyosho nitro dbx, brama was just cheap and the dbx is always having problems and parts breaking even while driving in a straight line on tarmac lol

ah kool the manual i got for my v1 esc only said 2s, so im guessing it handles 3s then? hehe the thunder tiger xxt is pretty mad with the v1 controller and 4300kv motor on 2s its a whole 1000kv faster than the system that came with it (one i got with xxt is in my xl5 bandit) i would be frightened if it took 3s yep it is the same esc and motor the stock bullet comes with, goes nuts in the smaller xxt though, stupid manual made me think it wouldnt handle 3s

yep looks like it i have the version 1 one in my thunder tiger xxt with a reload 4300kv motor and it neither accepts 3s or handles water so im guessing thats the improvements on the v2 one

from what i have read ez run systems are dirt cheap and good. from my experience their awesome got a second hand rustler from here with a 6000kv ezrun system in it and wow it is just insane and u can even link it up to your pc via usb etc to programme the speed controller. not worked out how to do that with mine since no manual as it came in a second hand car im gonna be watching this thread as me and dad are both interested in the wee savages in kit form so let us know how u get on with what ever you get and how it runs

cheers for the info yeh i know about alarms but id rather use a esc with a cut off looks like i might be buying a ezrun motor or taking the durgas after all if 17 turns is same as 3500 the durgas motor is 3250 so close plus im not using the durga at the moment its too high maintenance compared to my thunder tiger xxb second question what are good places to buy cheap brushless motors in the 3500kv range? hehe only reason im wanting to leave the brushless system in durga alone is because i think dad might be planning on buying a savage xxs kit and then he can use that in it, i basically gave him the durga and said u like high maintenance here have a leccy that needs more maintenance than ur nitros lol

hey guys i fitted proper shocks, 2.4ghz receiver and the brushless system out of a step up stinger to my drifter earlier. im finding the stingers motor to be very weak and there wasnt much drifting going on because of that i dont want to get extra grunt and whack one of my 3s batterys into it incase the light unit blows up, and the motor is too weak on 2s, only reason i switched was because i wanted to use lipos over the brushed esc that came with it, so does any one know what kv range of motor would be suitable for a thunder tiger dx on 2s? if worst comes to the worst i can take the 3250kv motor out of the durga and try that, but id rather buy a cheap brushless motor and use it on the stingers esc thats in my drifter and that leaves the durga intact the car came with a brushed 17 turn motor

wasn't sure what i wanted but i ended up with a blade mcpx and had fun crashing it, although i have been hammering phoenix a bit now so i might stop crashing it

nope i got a recent flash player 11 update for my phone as did my dads htc desire recently, their still up for mobile flash theres problems with ice cream sandwich getting flash but that will be fixed soon while im on 2.5 ginger bread and ice cream sandwich is version 4.0, flash is still strong for android

that is what gets my back up, i could of bought a iphone 4 for cheaper than my samsung galaxy s (pay as you go unlocked) but why would i buy a device that is inferior for screen quality,battery life and raw power plus unlocked so i can do what i want with the device, if i wanted to be restricted i would of bought the iphone 4 for cheaper. yet i cant afford it? nice marketing top notch that apple does no arguements there, cept their flogging inferior hardware with the os locked out and any one that doesnt buy into it like me and goes with android gets the response of you cant afford it cept my android phone was more expensive and does a lot more...... thats marketing for yous with the dolphin hd browser on my phone set to desk top mode, i see no difference between my gaming computer (quad core 3.2ghz 8 gig ddr3 5850 1 gig ddr5) and my phone for general browsing and watching streaming videos on web sites with the full flash player 11 on my phone, yet i picked my phone because i couldnt afford an iphone 4 and yet my galaxy s cost more, im failing to see the logic, especially when im not playing pc games i just whip out my phone and read forums etc or stream videos from flash, its not unkown for my pc to be turned of for a week at a time, because my phone is doing what i want it for apart from pc games, yet i cannot afford an inferior device (that was cheaper) that will not do what i want it to do even if i jail break it. thats good marketing from apple. oh well id better enjoy my gorilla glass 4inch samoled+ screen with 512 mb mobile ddr 2 and a 1ghz cpu because i couldnt afford a iphone 4?

i could of bought an iphone 4 for a wee bit cheaper than my samsung galaxy s and it is an awesome phone i have no complaints about it, i call it my hand top since i dont have a lap top but spend loads of hours on my galaxy s veiwing web sites in desktop mode on dolphing hd browser and a full flash player, got flash player 11 on it dont even need to root it to get it to do what i want and got 40 gig of storage unrooted galaxy s 40 gig and loving it 8 gig on phone and 32 gig on the micro sd card 2 gig reserved for little bits of app data if i bought an iphone i would have to jail break it just to do half the stuff my un rooted galaxy s does, yeh i like messing with stuff i think my psp is crippled without custom firmware etc

only skimmed the pages, my msr started acting pretty wonky eg, turn power down and it would keep spinning its blades and other things like suddenly going of in one direction and out of contol and at other tiems it would flash like its low battery with fully charged batterys, turns out it was the main motor that caused all that while i was thinking it was the receiver unit. dad put a new main motor in it, under a tenner from my lhs and its working as it should now

wow that does seem pretty weedy for a savage, i have the same 4300kv system in my thunder tiger xxt and it heats up in that lol

you will need to check out the manual on the esc electronic speed controller settings, as you will probably need to manually set up the esc for a lipo cut off for the lipo batterys, sorry i cant be more help but ive never used that esc before but i would not run it untill a lipo cut off is set. if a lipo battery gets too low voltage it can result in a fire or just a knackered battery hence the cut off when set up properly will save the battery from getting over drained when running. some speed controllers have a 2 stage cut off eg power drops low car goes slow etc then cuts of completely while others just cut power instantly, their pretty fool proof from my experience of differnt esc's and lipos but the esc needs to be set to lipo mode for the cut off to work

not sure if this is my biggest but its the most recent screw up, we got to the quarry i sat down and turned on my tx then done usual other stuff and put my hyper 7 black on the starter box, woot engine going hmm that sounds a bit more revving than usual so i put the car on the ground and it revs of straight towards a massive pile of boulders, i grab the tx and think wtf nothings responding so i run after the car and smack right into the big pile of boulders. i forgot to turn on the receiver lol (my hyper 7 black wont prime fuel unless the throttles on so i moved the throttle servo manually and forgot to turn on receiver before starting it on my box after priming) too its credit it was only a very cheap small part that broke another recent one with heli's im used to a mcx and msr plus a 120 sr so i was confident on trying out dads new mcpx, dad said take it easy with it its twicthy im like nae bother ill master it and whacked on the throttle and lost control nearly cut of my ear lobe, blood pouring out lol then thinking id learned how it handles i done the same again and smacked my head with the rotor blades about 10 minutes later lol
