Finished the TT01E for the Audi A4. Nothing special.
Im thinking of running my Top Force Evo as 4WD is just better than 2WD IMO. Just going to use these electrics I have on hand.

Its Friday. Had a tough week at work so cracked open the A4 TT01E and a beer. Bizarrely, Im enjoying the TT-01E build a lot more than the usual TT02? I just wish Id picked up a bearing kit and some oil shocks before I started but to be fair its only a shelfer.

Ive been very quiet on the RC front. A genuine bit of RC fatigue, Ive not even been interested in catching up on forums or RC Youtubers, Traxxas have released a new Maxx Slash which is right up my street yet I havent pulled the trigger and I am unlikely too. Truth is, Id picked up most of the RCs I wanted (the Tamiya R34s, NSX, Supra and various Porsches) and I kinda felt Ive achieved everything with my RCs….
However, I had an Audi A4 on order at my local modelshop, and last week I did my usual eBay searches and made a purchase.
Must be a sign as today as I was leaving for work, I got a parcelforce notification a parcel was out for delivery, and on my lunch break, I got a text saying my A4 was in at my local modelshop. So a double RC Day.
Also picked up some paint etc
Audi A4 TT-01E. Such an iconic shell IMO. Obviously a rere but itll be built as a shelfer so no problems.
Now this is also a rere. I missed out on the original ReRe run, so had to pay over RRP, but I still got this for sub £200 all in which I think is acceptable. Its also on a TA03RS, quite a rare chassis that Ive never actually built.
Of Course its the Porsche 911 GT1 Street. I do wonder if I could obtain some “race version” decals?- 5

Yeah, thats the same spot - unfortunately the jumps need some maintenance now
Looking at the info I have those pics are 2007, but I mustve been going there with other RCs when I was younger as I could drive myself in 2007. Good times. I used to always go Bekra RC in Newton Abbot and AMC in Torquay before it moved. I also raced touring cars at a track in Kingskerswell thats maybe not there anymore

Finally used my hyper go 14210 never did I think I'd ever say 3s is too much but so much fun. My daughter crashed my slash 4x4 into the only pole in the park wrote off my shell but thats my excuse to use my new one I painted ages ago and my son dusted off his hb d418. Forgot how angry that buggy is!
Is that ‘the’ Slash 4x4 I think it is?

Thats it! Honestly I nearly teared up seeing you post that. Such happy memories going there what must be 20+ years ago!

I can see tamiya do the cva and trf shocks. Are there any others to choose from? Are there any aftermarket brands that others often go for with these?
Just get some cheap Yeah Racing ones in my opinion

Always liked the look of these, just swore Id never buy another Arrma/Horizon product. Good luck with it!

I’ve managed to bag a brand new kit with motor and esc for under £100. Had a quick Look at the kit and was horrified to see the plastic bearings so I’ve ordered some decent ones. I just wondered if there were any other must do upgrades on these things before I start?
Bearings, Oil shocks and a steel pinion are the main 3. Anything else is nice, but its not going to improve it much, itll still always be a basic TT02. You can end up sinking a fortune into them (which I have done). Spend as little as possible and put the money towards a better kit if you like it.
Look at it as youve paid £100 for a beautiful bodyshell/wheels/tyres.

Just a reminder for people like me who own lipo’s but rarely use their RCs lately. Just check your lipo’s. Condition and voltages. I have 20 or so Lipo’s, stored in BatSafes. Just checked the voltages and all seems ok, but two appeared to drop out of balance. Nothing major but one cell was 0.2v out. Just trying to rectify with a charge/discharge to balance out. Hopefully be ok as theyre quite expensive 4S Lipo’s

After the standard body getting wrecked fairly quickly and the cost of them thought i would try a different body, so got this proline brute and a sticker kit, there was a touch of worry with the body as it was supposed to arrive friday but come sunday and it not arriving i called dpd and they proclaimed its lost, but it turned up today thankfully. Phew! On the website for the stickers it does say that there is supposed to be gaps between the stickers and the over all result i am very happy with, tomorrow i will get all the plastic structure swapped over.
That looks great! I didnt go for the Brute because it was white but your decals look incredible on it!

Was going to go out with the RCs but weathers terrible so I compared my Porsches. That sounded good to say!
I think Porsches make the best 1:1 cars, and the Tamiya/Porsche connection also seems special
Yea, I need more Tamiya Porsches!

Have to ask, why is Modelsport or Wheelspin not a UK dealer
You mean as in the actual distributor? I dont think that woud work if a shop was also the distibutor. It'd give a bias of what products they push surely?

Didnt that come with higher than a 40a ESC? Could be wrong?

Boring one I know but Im oddly at peace with my current collection and theres not really any RC I really want. Lately Ive been searching every day for various RCs, yet Ive kinda got all I want now. Theres a couple of Porsche, a Volvo 850 and a Raybrig NSX Im after, but not desperate if that makes sense. I feel Ive peaked too early and got the 4 Main RCs I wanted this year (Castrol Supra GT, Pennzoil R34, Taisan Starcard GT2 and an NSX) early on as I sold circa £2ks worth of RC & Video Games which improved the budget. So Ive splashed out on this massive purchase to tidy some loose ends up!
If anyone knows where you can just buy the small black Tamiya body clips Id appreciate it!
What did you do to your model today?

Dont know why, but I GENUINELY enjoyed building a TT01E. I know its basic, but it felt a lot better than a TT02? Anyway, also a brilliant brilliant bodyshell IMO. I know this is a dirty ReRe, but this looks straight out of the Tamiya Catalogue I used to buy from Beatties as a lad!
Now onto the Porsche GT1…
