Sad day today, had a letter from the DVLA stating my HGV license is coming to an end and requires a medical check-up to renew. That’s me up the creek then…
lost/losing so much now with bad health and it peeves me off.
i think the buying side of the rc hobby has to sadly come to a end, i can just about afford to put fuel in the 1:1 now, its all gone down hill in the last 3-4 years.
still could be a lot worse though….

DAF AEBS slaps on the brakes for lamp posts, random pedestrians and stray dogs....Turn that rubbish off!
@Gaz ... you would be surprised at whay you can pass a medical with. It's just checking you can see, hear, and react to what's going on. A lot of medical conditions will not fail you as long as they are under control and suitably managed. Worth talking to a sawbones to get advice.
My day job... Transport manager.

Never had a 1/5 scale and got an itch to get one, but probably brushless, not a gasser. What voltage are they typically 8s or 12s? Like the 30 degree north buggy but it doesnt have a centre diff.

Had a look at the nitro Hyper ST that I picked up recently. It has a Macstar28 engine - they take normal glowlpugs don't they?
Edit - looks like it can use turbo plugs depending on the head button (is that the right word??)
-
Just take out the glowplug and have a look. If it has a square shoulder..normal. Tapered, and it;s a turbo.
Never liked those Macstar engines. Always found them harder to tune and keep in tune than most of the other options out there. Kyosho, OS, Force, LRP ....HPI, Thunder Tiger ... Even the Hoboa .21 motor was better. In fact, about hte only nitro motors that ever gave me grief were .28 Macstars.

What's a HPI mt2 with the classic T15 engine worth?
Not sure it's worth buying to use but more to clean up / rebuild as a shelf queen?
-
to me..it's worth £5
To someone who wants one as a classic RC for their shelf...it;s worth whatever you are prepared to pay for it. It's not a value based decision.
Can you get the parts to make it look good. Is it all there and not battered.
Some optimist on E-Bay reckons theirs is worth well over £200.....

Does anyone else have other hobbies/things that they're into that cost a lot? (especially when you let yourself off the leash)
Collecting Masterpiece Transformers can be punchy as hell lol
I'm still getting over coming back from TFNation - Europes biggest Transformers conversation (apparently)

I dont understand car dealerships. Head is frazzled 🤯

A good paint shop will do a job that will match the factory finish...but...it's not a cheap process. Rubbing back, blending the scratch, then properly colour matching and feathering in the new paint until it's seamless. Then wet sanding and buffing it. You paint to panel lines and natural breaks to help hide any blending. It's skilled work.
Alternatively...you call in one of those 'scratch fixers' who do the whole job in half an hour.No prizes for guessing which looks 'right'
Dealers want you cash NOW, so you buy it...then they get the scratch fixed before you pick up your car, so if it looks crap when you collect it...it's your car. Any problems with the finish and they will send you off to the pain people for recompense, who will point you at their small print saying the finish is not guaranteed perfect.
They won;t paint it before someone buys it, as that will burn up the profit and leave them with nowt. They know it's actual value just the same as you do, only the 'discount' for a quick sale makes it feel like a good deal. It's not. Don't walk away though ... RUN!!!!!
Came across this when I was trying to buy a bike once. Turned up to test ride it, and the fork oil seals were so blown oil was running over the brakes. Clearly unsafe. Would only fix it if I bought the bike. Another place accepted the list of faults I found with the thing they were selling...and offered me a 10% discount on the repairs.....provided I paid them to do it. No mate. That's not how it works in the real world.
Dealers......are like politicians. VERY hard to find an honest one.

Why is it people on FB think they can buy an RC, use/abuse it, then sell it for more than a new one... 🤔
-
I was going to say it's because they are idiots.
Then I reconsidered...because if it's stupid to SELL your beaten up truck for more than a new one, what does that make a person who BUYS said truck?
But in all probability, they don't sell. These guys used to fill E-Bay up, but fees mean they go sell on FB instead. I avoid Facebook period. Not just marketplace.

This was why I bought a Savage XS and before that a Losi mini 8ight...which was fun, but had real issues with dif bearings, chewing up spurs and generally just seeming to need more work than it was fun.
Still have hte SAvage, and it's been reliable on 2S. Push it to 3S, and the driveline wear stepped up a bit.
Also consider:
These are all capable of handling a decent range of terrrain, go fast enough to be fun, yet fit in a small holdall with all the stuff you need. Bigger scale trucks just take up more room and are more work to transport and store.

I may have bought home a baby Diamond Python Tuesday 🙄 I'll post some pics probably in a week or two after he's settled in

Holly rc`s, Tomley is building the Cross XX10 T-rex 10 wheel beast, that is something awesome
-
Does look impressive.
REminds me of my plans to build an 8 wheel FG based truck with 2 26cc motors, 4WD 4WS, I had enough parts to make it, but when I laid it out...I knew I had no way to transport it to anywhere I could run it. So it never got built.
Whilst I love a statement RC, it's no fun if you can;t take it out for a run!

Yeah....slight issue there. My PSU has only 1 power lead with a split pair of 8pin connectors.
I have a replacement unit on roder from Amazon due tomorrow. Didn;t want to buy a new PSU...but...this is a possible fix, and a better quality PSU was probably on the cards anyway to avoid issues under load. If I ever actually get that far!
Will see how that turns out

well...so far STILL no joy.
Updated BIOS, tried a few BIOS settings, did a CMOS reset. Still nothing.
Tried monitors with display port cable and HDMI for good measure.
Screens stay black, and my Mobo 'EZ Diag' shows a VGA light, telling me either the GPU is not detected or failed. Yes. Thank you EZ Diag, but I think the totally blank screen had given me a clue.
