    Traxxas Unlimited Desert Racer

Not much information at the moment but we do know Traxxas will be releasing 2 new models. One being the E-Revo 2.0 and also a Solid Rear Axle 1/7th Scale Baja/Desert Style Truck!

Below is a teaser image of the 1/7 scale:

That's a mk1 ruckus with the rubbish esc and rubbish radio. It wasn't available for long before the mk2 came out with much better brushed 2/3s lipo compatible dynamite esc and spectrum radio. For 140 quid. The 15t motor wasn't man enough for the ruckus (though it was fine in a torment with smaller tyres), but the chassis and pretty much everything else that carried over from the mk1 was near enough bullet proof. You've been unlucky with your ruckus, and that's a shame, but the vast majority of owners it seems have nothing but good things to say about them.

Pretty swift for a big boy. When the 5th scale uns are doing 30 mph they look like they're doing 12 mph because of the size. This un don't :D

    Wow!

Finally , a rig that puts down the power properly as opposed to just upping voltage!

    That was an impressive performance.

I real!y want one! .......I suppose i can live with one kidney right!?! ...might eBay it..no returns...."was working when put away" :043:

    Not much longer!

As with all Traxxas, my main concern will be longevity of gear sets, I wonder if they've got this one right!?

Reckon that's a teaser from the magazine? There's more footage to edit into a full article?

Our slash has been fine? No gear problems at all in over two years.

And I thought they sorted the xmaxx diffs with the mk2?

A point a made elsewhere, the Slash 4x4 used diffs from a larger car, so diff failures were rare. My own Slash 4x4 didn't suffer a single diff failure in approximately four years of ownership, and that car covered some miles! It might only of been on 2S, but I was using a huge 10,000mah pack that gave 40 minute runtimes! Good times!

The new ERBE will now come with diffs from a larger car and so should prove far more reliable.

The X-Maxx V2 diffs have still had their fair share of failures, not as many, but they do still fail. However, drop these diffs into the smaller ERBE and they'll almost certainly be more reliable.

As for the UDR, all new design, so only time will tell.

Are they using the original X-Maxx higher KV motors that were changed in the 8S version - must have had a surplus of motors initially?

    Just a thought.

I wonder if the speed is down to it not being all that much bigger than a Revo, Going by there own specs,The wheel base of the Revo is 380mm, The  UDR is 420mm, Width the Revo is 465mm, The UDR is 345mm, Height the Revo is 221mm and the UDR is 261mm.

I think the big one is the weight, The Revo is 5.08Kg, And the UDR is 6.1Kg, The UDR is a fraction over 1 Kilo heavier than the Revo, But how much of that extra is down to  the extra 2 wheels and all the stuff on the rear overhang, I just wonder if when people get it in the hand if it could be a case off "I thought it would be bigger".

    Big enough, I reckon.

I wonder if a lot of people will run without those two spares?

Well wheebase is only extra 30mm, And even overall the UDR is only 110mm longer..

Just had a quick look, Axiel Yeti XL wheelbase is 470mm with an overall length of 654mm, Width is 414mm and height is 282mm, So give or take, About the same size as the XL.

    It’s a 2200 kv motor. Xmaxx v1 was 1600 from memory.

My xmaxx v2 ring and pinion gears have been fine so far. V1 broke 3rd run out maybe?... spur and pinion shattered tho ( once so far)

might get this udr in time. £800+ is too much for me just now. Looks great in that vid tho. Fast.

Id like it just to annoy all the 1/5 gas guys I run with. They by and large hate electric rigs. I like petrol/ nitro/ elec myself.

Think I'd wait for a totally unbiased review, The Traxxas gear hanging in the back ground and the T-shirt don't help my cynicism., Just a poorly edited Traxxas advert, I'm sorry, But no truck or buggy is that good that he couldn't find any more problems or niggles.

He gave it full meat over the biggest jump he could find, All 2ft of it, I'm swayed.

Will admit that it looks good as a static model, But it looks so like a toy, And it just doesn't look like 800 quids worth of model, I just think, "Is that it", And it's not very big.

I admit I was smitten when It was first shown (in fact I saw it on Reddit, and came straight on here after a long hiatus). When I saw the pic of it with a Slash 4x4 I was very dissapointed with its size. Then the price came and I thought its too close to an Xmaxx to justify.

That said, if i get on well with my Berserker, I wont need the E Revo 2.0, so this may be an option, who knows?

I thought that review was a totally unbiased view.  Does it matter what rc stuff is on the walls, and what clothing he wears. And as it been a toy. They are all toys at the end of the day. Yes expensive but why not.

You cannot take it with you, as they say, Life is to short just buy it and have fun.

If you don't like it,not big enough for you, don't buy it and move on.

Good review, but seriously lacking in air. Kevin Talbot will be the one to watch, he'll air this thing out to the moon, quickly finding its limits.

Definitely on the want list, but ERBE 2.0 first.

Ok, im absolutely awful at this. Ive started to watch the video, and this has impressed me. I didnt really look into it much as soon as that original picture with the Slash came out due to its size. The suspension travel looks amazing when he lifts it out. I also expected this to require 8s to hit 50mph+ but its 6s only?

Also, do the battery packs plug directly into the chassis with a Traxxas ID connector as opposed to into the ESC like that Losi which `ive forgot the name of?
