Redcat Kaiju 1:8 scale 6S ready monster truck

Hmmm,,,,, where have we seen this before?  Chassis didn't like 4S in the Helion 10TR, so 6S is going to be mental.

lol, yeah, I would call it proper 4S 1:9 scale truck same as Maxx, 6S would most probably tear it apart but lets see, layout looks good, electronics as well and drivetrain remains questionable, body looks meh...  

One to watch, I guess.

Redcat tend to come under different brands in the UK though, right?

Redcat have never filled me with confidence, can't see this being any different. 

 

What happened to their 1/5 leccy? Died at launch?

Might be fun, motor might be on the limit though. Price looks fairly decent, if the plastics are okay it might put a cat amongst the pigeons 🤔

4268 is a bit of an odd choice. Looks like a tonne of space for a longer can though.

neither me but this one looks like decent concept, if it’s light it might be even durable, couldn’t found the weight figures of it anywhere

could be enough if it’s below 3.5kg but looking at those large wheels/tires I doubt it

I think it's trying to compete with the Arrma 4s line. At least the pricing is.

There's no way they'd put a plastic pinion on something like this. The esc looks like an older hobbywing model, but hobbywing is hobbywing 💁

To be honest this is just an overpriced Helion / Associated Rival more than likely it is even coming out the same factory. 

 

Personally I’d buy it under the Associated brand as parts support should be better and I think this on 6s will just eat itself plus it’s cheaper 👍

They're actually not the same truck. Only the main chassis is shared with the helion 10tr/vkar bison/associated rival. The other parts are different. The kaiju is a lot beefier than any of those 3 in the front and rear. As far as i know, there arent any issues with that main chassis tub from those cars either. It's looking pretty good to me

 Even better then as if you bought say Rival and needed to beef it up mix and match parts from this   Win win 😂👍

 

Chances are if it’s running the same chassis tub it will be the same diff housings  and everything bolts to that 

 

Definitely be interesting to see how this turns out compared to the others 👍

I think too many parts are different. The diff housings are completely different too, probably to house a different drivetrain, there's no way they'd use the same one as in a 3s truck.

 

I'm glad it's not the same, the more I look at it the more I like it, because I can barely see any similarities with those cheaper trucks. Looking forward to this one.

10tr/bison isn't the same as avenge/rival, 2 different cars and concepts...Kaiju is closer to the avenge/rival but bigger (Wheelbase: 258mm vs. 309mm) and as fnknan said  overall beefier

chassis tub looks to be deeper and contains further reinforcement (those 4 side panels joining shock towers) 

It really does look like redcats come up with something good here. That reinforcement reminds me of the xmaxx. It's really not some cheap rebrand.

The pic with the dimensions on it got me thinking. It says the wheelbase is 309mm... well im curious as to how that makes it 8th scale?

That would mean the full size version of the vehicle would have a wheelbase of  ~2500mm... thats less than my 1:1 hatchback 😆

 

Edit - If they put 1/10th scale, then it would be pretty close to a short bed normal cab F150 (3109mm)

 

They do kinda make the scale thing up as they go along, don't they?

yeah nowadays scale doesn't mean anything. Traxxas calls the UDR 'pro' scale... what even is 'pro' scale, it doesn't make any sense.  The Maxx is longer than this and it's '1/10' but at the same time the stampede is also '1/10' and it's wheelbase is almost 2 inches shorter.

 

Think they just did it for marketing. Nobody is gonna take a 1/10 that runs 6s seriously, so they just call it 1/8.

and Kaiju isn't French word but Japanese so ju has to be said like a juice at the end   

other than that I really like it, proper 1:8 scale driveshaft from what we can see 👍

btw. just to be clear, I like the car but the shell reminds me of Lada from 80's  🤮
