    New Models from Maverick (HPI)

The Modelsport  Facebook account broke the news today that Maverick (A branch of HPI) are releasing some new models beginning next month, with the first being the Phantom XT.

Looking at the previous core of Maverick business, it stands to reason we will see numerous models based on the same core design, such as a Buggy, MT, Truggy, Desert Truck, and Touring Car.

Sorry for the low effort report, I didn't realise I hadn't put the main pictures in the content section, and I don't think I can edit it.

Love the looks of it, rest I’m unsure about....

My first ever rc car was a Maverick atom. Must be almost 10 years ago now. It’s the only rc car that I never ever managed to break. The thing would stand abuse all day long. It’s a car remember fondly. If I could find one for sale I’d buy another, but they never seem to come up anywhere. Back then I don’t think they shared a platform with other brands like Himoto, so they used to be able to make good stuff. Not sure about this though.

Looks almost identical to these, probably not a good thing. The quantum series modelsport have got on the site are a different chassis design though. Might be better.

Good spot. Very similar, for this price I'd probably go for an FTX.

I'm just glad that new models are starting to appear from HPI. Hopefully, money starts to build-up and we see a resurgence. I'd love to see HPI back where they belong.

Yh - that's what I put above - the E10 series - Bowie MT, Katana , spatha, tanto.   The iron track name iirc was the usual cynical way for foreign sounding companies to sell to the American market.

I don't recognise the Quantum chassis immediately - but it does ring some bells.  Looks awful... Price will sell them so we'll see.

The Quantum looks like it shares some design ideas with some Redcat and Helion cars but it has pillow balls on all corners, I can't find anything else with that setup.

    EDIT

I think the Quantum shares some parts with this Redcat but its not identical.

Maverick arent hpi are they hpi just distribute them. Or has it changed? If maverick produce bad rcs and call them hpi its hpi's reputation taking a hit too.

Not that hpi seem to be doing much latly. I'm hopeful they can climb back to the top of most wanted basher lists.

Thought I recognised that design somewhere 🥴

Could be okay for £99 tho. I remember the himoto ones were more expensive no?

Depends where and when bought, some places wanted £150 for them, I've a vague mem of £120 ish being the norm and the odd one cropping up at a ton.

As an addendum, much like the carnage over the vantage - the truck / truggy will have an advantage over the buggy in that the shell protects the shock towers and will absorb some loads in crashes as well as distributing them over both mounting points.  I still wouldn't.

I remember the brushless spatha being £200 so that sounds about right.

I very nearly bought that as my first proper RC lmao. Glad I went with the Scrt10 instead.
