Vas was the leak I think he is just trying to cover his back and hopefully salvage something from his deal with Arrma. It’s his own fault really as he should have kept it quite it’s not like he won’t get one first for free to review anyway. From what heard all the you tubers have them already anyway 

You can't just blame him, where's your proof? It'd be a monster of an own goal if it was, he would be incredibly stupid to ruin his relationship. 

 

If that's genuine, why the damn wing? A CD? Yes! Rear wing? Hell no!

Just read elsewhere that this might be a one-off homebrew. Just trying to get clarification.

No chance, the chassis and shock set up doesn't match anything in that scale. Might be a prototype or test unit but it's no home brew!

And where would they get the tyres and shell?

a shell isn't hard to make at all, but yeah wheel and tyres would be hard to make  I think it could look a bit ghetto because it could be a prototype and not the final version in the picture. 

People seem to be a bit disappointed that it's basically a bigger Kraton, but that's exactly what I expected. Seems like the obvious starting point for a new scale platform given the success and reputation of the Kraton as a durable bashing truck.

Once they have all the parts out, it doesn't take too much for them to make the different versions with slightly different chassis, e.g. Notorious, Talion, Outcast, perhaps even a giant Typhon (but not sure who would buy that?), to please the rest of the audience.

 

Perhaps a bit of an anti-climax if you were expecting them to copy Traxxas.

I'm not a Kraton fan, so this isn't for me if it's true. 

 

The Mojave on the other hand, yes. 

Personally I’d liked to of seen a more truck inspired competitor to the X maxx and by what’s being said so would a lot of Arrmas fans I think they’ve played it safe but sadly too safe. Word is it’s 8s some say the new Spektrum electrics are going in it ? 
 

Not for me this one if it’s true and seeing as they have a 6s already that will no doubt be cheaper I think folks won’t buy this like the 6s but who knows

Therein lies the problem. 

 

A 1/5th Kraton is just worse in every aspect apart from size. Slower, won't rotate as much when jumping, and it will be nowhere near as durable. I'm not saying that it won't be durable at all - but it's a 1/5th. It'll be 25 to 30 pounds in weight. That will, much like an X-Maxx or any other large scale RC, take a single "borked" hit. This thing will weigh roughly three times as much as a Kraton, but won't have three times the power, wheel size/weight, or material thickness.

 

I'm not gonna say it's a bad truck, albeit i stand by my assumption that an Outcast/Nero would've been way smarter - but it's by no means an X-Maxx killer. Neither was the DBXLE, they're simply too different to "kill each other". 

tbh you could say that about any 1/6th or 1/5th scale, once you go past 1/8th scale, the weight strength ratios of the plastics and aluminium are not as good. Thats why if you want something to send 1/8th scale is the best way to go.

Xmaxx is only 20lbs. A Baja is 25, DBXL 35, 5ive T is 38.  Take the wheels off the xmaxx and it's not anywhere close to 1/5 and by the looks of it neither is this new car.  I do want to see what's underneath it though. That picture tells us nothing other than it's big.

X-Maxx is 23 with batteries and basically full composite. The Kraton won't be full composite, but again a metal flat chassis.  It'll be well over 25 pounds.

So now this is out I wonder if Arrma will reduce the countdown clock or other you tubers will start showing unboxing etc ? 

They did something similar with the Mojave, didn't they? I can't recall exactly how it went, but that was leaked too and they were "forced" to go public? 

 

Something like that, didn't follow it because i wasn't interested in the Mojave.

He pretty much by the looks of it admits it was him I didn’t  see this myself but was sent it 

 

I've seen people talk about it in other forums, the deleted post. It certainly seems legit. 

I'm liking the look of this if it's true ,I don't think it's a bad move on arrma's part  as long as it's durable and cheaper than the x-maxx 

 

i reckon it has a scaled up plastic chassis similar to the 1/10 range or at least I'm hoping it has .
