    Overview

"Designed Fast, Designed Tough" may be an understatement when describing the KRATON® Extreme Bash Roller Speed Monster Truck. Made of strong anodized 7075 T6 aluminum, the laser-etched chassis plate gains further rigidity from the use of front and rear aluminum chassis braces. Strong composite chassis side pods and a center body support and brace provide more rugged resilience.

Durable steel driveshafts plus all-metal diff outdrives and gearbox internals keep the heavy-duty 4-wheel drivetrain rolling over punishing tracks. An Extreme Bash toughened suspension system smooths the ride, with a steel rear suspension mount and adjustable oil-filled shocks mounted on 7075 T6 anodized aluminum front and rear shock towers.

The KRATON Extreme Bash Roller Speed Monster Truck's list of EXB components also includes the following — and more — to give this big machine uncompromising muscle:

    • EXB Heavy-duty front and rear arms with aluminum strengthening cap
    • EXB Heavy-duty steel turnbuckles
    • EXB Heavy-duty front upper steel hinge pins
    • EXB Plated limited-slip differentials
    • EXB Red-anodized aluminum servo mount
    • EXB Large volume waterproof receiver box
    • EXB Front bumper

Its aggressive dBoots® Copperhead 2 tires arrive mounted on multi-spoke wheels with durable hubs to deliver all-terrain traction — assisted by a high downforce wing that adds an aggressive edge to the look of the exclusive EXB matte and gloss effect finished truck body.

To be fair, In this day and age, None of the premium brands should have problems with diffs, The scale  is not new, If your gonna sell something that's 6s  ready and RTR out the box, Then not being shimmed to withstand 6s is unacceptable, If your designing, Manufacturing  and selling 6s capable 1/8 trucks, You should know what parts are under the most stress and prone to failure.

Seen a few EXBs. No problem seen. Must be something Traxxas fans say to derail threads or something.

Let’s be honest though you always say you’ve never seen this or that even when I’ve shown you pics from the same places you say have no issues with them lol so I’d say it must be an Arrma fan cover up to make them look better than they really are by trying to discredit what findings folks report.

I'm not defending Arrma in any way or form, as I myself am going to buy the EXB..😁

But, this diff issue is all about QC..!! if you go over to the ArrmaForum you will see plenty of people with issues and just as many with no issues..!!

The fact that Arrma hasn't fitted the correct shims in the diff from the factory is unacceptable in my opinion, and to make matters worse they labelled the shims incorrectly too..🤪

I would like to think they will sort the issue out, but none the less there is an issue and it's very hit or miss wether your fancy new EXB will be good or bad..😩

If you live in the states they just warranty everything quite easily but over here we're gonna get royaly screwed no doubt..!!

I've also just noticed MS have put the release date back to the 27th September..!!!

But why should you have too after forking good money on the ultimate edition of a model that’s the point  ! Shouldn’t  Arrma have done this in the design and testing stage ?  Which then leads to the next question just how much testing do they actually do as this releasing trucks with flaws is becoming the norm now and not just Arrma. Why is this becoming acceptable these RC’s aren’t getting any cheaper but seem to be getting more poorly made designed etc

What’s wrong with a traditional style diff? Arrma were asking for trouble releasing such a complicated diff...... Do we really need it???

In a toy car that's unlikely to ever see a track, probably not.

Looking at the exploded drawings in that vid, they are very complicated. This is why I dislike gearboxes, too many moving parts. A CD with motor driving straight onto it has far less to wear out. These diffs are in the same vein, too much to go wrong.

However, as the guy explained, it's looking like a factory error rather than outright diff failure.

I'm sure Jason was plotting this evil plan to sell millions of diff shims for months now.

Its clearly gone wrong from the factory which isn't really surprising. I have had lots of issues with drive shafts on my hobao that have been made wrong. Lots of people buying axial kits or other kits have parts missing. Not really much you can do about these things on the factory side when you are not even in the same country.

The correct thing for them to do would have been to find which cars had been affected by serial numbers and send out those people the parts they needed to repair it. I'm pretty sure one guy I've seen contacted horizon and they sent him an entire diff with the limited slip discs rather than a standard one.

Yeah, that's the guy in the vid I linked. I bet they wouldn't do that for the Brits!

No there’s lots a company can do for poor quality control it’s far too easy to pass the buck end of the day it’s the companies name on the box so the fault lies there.

As for Jason perhaps a little less time on social media and a little more time sorting out QUALITY CONTROL might have these issues a thing of the past !

This is all easily fixed, We come away from RTR, Which it never is, And go back to kit, Why in gods name they can't even give you the option by throwing all the RTR parts into a box and just saying,'There you go, Fill ya boots'.

As has been said, There starting to take the rise now, QC and testing seems to be an afterthought across the board more and more.

This whole diff issue with the EXB is just getting ridiculous..!!

I have just received my shims that I ordered for my upcoming EXB and now Arrma has screwed me again 😩

I ordered the ARA709060 shims that come in packets of 8..!! and surprise surprise there are only 4 in each packet..🤬

This QC thing is just getting out of hand..

I think Arrma needs to rethink their plan for supply of parts etc and sort these issues or a lot of customers will just walk away and move to another brand..!!

( Over on the Arrmaforums there are people defending Arrma like morons, telling others to just go buy shims from elsewhere to sort the problem..!! )

I say how about ARRMA sort the problem..!!

Geez, a few weeks ago i was considering getting an EXB, ended up going with a Tekno MT410. I did read about the Diffs problems but i didn't realise it was that bad.  Also dont like that the release is being postponed.

Shimming diffs for a new model is unacceptable, and for a new model touted as extreme bash roller or such like is a joke that only ARRMA can pull off.  I'm not traxxas fan, but I'd take one over an arrma.  I saw first hand the %%%% show that was the end of Durango, yet it seems nothing changes.

Lowkey want a crt but I'm saving for a 5th scale

As time goes on there's less and less around in good condition.  Still plenty of parts available.  Helps if you know the right person ;)

Exactly,    I'm not buying any new RCs unless they are a kit with tamiya quality build instructions so  my kids can have the experience of building the kit themselves with supervision and guidance.

Ya... I've witnessed... 🤣... I could only akin it to infighting between a pack of wolves... 😬

Jason's really active on fb.. Especially in the arrma groups... Some would say a little too active.... Although he has attempted to mitigate some of the confusion (a polite way of saying... Downplaying faults)

Did anyone catch his reply to a customer offering their unfavourable opinion of the supplied tools...??😂...

I get his passion... Its commendable, even admirable.... But I will add.... maybe someone needs to restrict his fb use a little.. 🤣...

I think some of the issue with arrma... Is the marketing/branding... And for the most part... Complete lack of in field testing....

Some may recall, arrma offered a salaried position for an 'office based test engineer' sometime last year...... I applied... Was told I was not suitable for the role by the general manager (Rob)... As I had made 2 spelling mistakes on my application... (Despite me being over qualified for the position) ...

Long story short... Me and Rob exchanged some words.... It just became an experience which left a bad taste in the mouth... And a dashing glance at the slimey underbelly of the arrma corporate structure.

I have heard they hired some uni post grad instead.....

Now given what's happening now.... There's not a chance those exb or the k8s was properly tested via market launch... So I guess there's a deep rooted lesson to learn from that mistake..... One which I doubt they will actually learn... I mean.... Approach any actual engineer and ask them what an office based test engineer is.... And I'm sure they'll have a colourful response... Its common sense...

What also makes me chuckle is... I actually chatted to Jason and suggested using two stage diff housings around a year back... And shifting to a better grade of t6 for the chassis....

I gave up in the end.... Now I just laugh when I see all the oh so avoidable issues caused by their own creation....

    And the saga continues

If you're in management.... You'll recognise this chestnut... (circled in orange).... For those not in the know.... Its the time honoured tradition of 'passing the buck'... 🤣🤣🤣🤣

If you're watching Jason... I still love you... I'm just poking fun... 😘🤣
