    logo-1.jpgFrom the Castle Creations website;

    The all new and improved Sidewinder 4 builds upon Castle’s most popular platform – the Sidewinder 3. The Sidewinder 4 is our first platform running Cryo-Drive technology which reduces operating temperatures in all applications. Cryo-Drive is a potent combination of software enhancements and precision fluid dynamics. The new case is designed specifically for maximum airflow from the huge 30mm fan included with the Sidewinder 4. These changes result in cooler ESC temperatures, increased runtime and power handling. All of these improvements mean you can gear more aggressively for more speed and harder/longer runs. And of course it is still waterproof** and compatible with the optional Castle Link USB programmer.

    The Sidewinder 4 is a versatile ESC that can be used in a wide variety of applications. It is available by itself, or paired with our 4-pole brushless motors; it can also be used in a rock crawling application with a brushed** motor down to a 19 turn.

    **Not intended for operation while submerged in liquid. If unit is operated in wet conditions, rinse with fresh water to remove dirt or corrosives, then fully dry unit.

    **Brushed motors are recommended for rock crawlers (vehicles traveling 3-5mph.) Brushless motors are fine for use with rock racing. If your vehicle is going to be in a bound up situation, very slowly traversing rocks and obstacles, you are running a rock crawler. If you are constantly traveling at 5mph or higher, you have a rock racer.

    Water resistant / splash proof, like pretty much every other 'waterproof' esc, or servo for that matter. The fan is the weak link on many of these both in terms of water and voltage. Of course, like servos you can make them more waterproof yourself with a bit if silicone and a good dose of patience...

    I'm curious to how their "precision fluid dynamics" model suggested blocking a chunk of the fan's intake with a huge SW4 logo to improve airflow.
