  9. Not my models, but for a mate, fixing up some broken / old trucks. Old nitro 4wd, kyosho maybe something else, bent chassis back to shape and a deep clean, the front ends ruined and needs some way to re attach to the chassis. Next up was fixing the top plate that had snapped , used the bottom of the old battery box to bodge it. Biggest issue was the screw holes for the diff housings are shattered with only one good screw holding down the front was a tricky thing to fix. Solution a fabricate a plate that holds the diff down via the hinge pin bar, clips over and affixed to the chassis also strenthening the front end. As the old battery / reciver box was deleted, made a top rear brace for esc / batteries. Final thing was convert it to electric. Popped a spare motor mount to the chassis and max 8 esc flat 4s battery and 2400kv motor for a quick test. Next up is this 1/10 kyosho

  10. Okay its been time to get a bit more positive with the "Pig in a poke", first up it was time to tackle low speed modulation, it comes with a 1060, not bad but could be a lot better so fitted a Hobbywing 1080 and took a bit of time setting it up just nice, low speed modulation is now a LOT better. Next up was not happy with the wheel hex`s, i found the wheels did not seem to fit just nice then remembered i had a set of Brass 12mm hex extenders, so on they went, seems better and as a result the truck now has a slightly wider track. As a future mod i am tempted to remove the rear silver bed, (shell is bolted 2 part) and get some Black 3mm plasticard and attempt to make a kinda flatbed/pari daker type bed for it and have the lipo mounted in a box right behind the cab, i would likely double up the bed base to 6mm, with 3mm sides

  11. Just a reminder for people like me who own lipo’s but rarely use their RCs lately. Just check your lipo’s. Condition and voltages. I have 20 or so Lipo’s, stored in BatSafes. Just checked the voltages and all seems ok, but two appeared to drop out of balance. Nothing major but one cell was 0.2v out. Just trying to rectify with a charge/discharge to balance out. Hopefully be ok as theyre quite expensive 4S Lipo’s

  12. Took out one of my hard body builds. Scx10 ii axles, injora chassis with two speed forward gearbox. 35 turn 540 can with a 1080 on 2s. Injora jeep wrangler 313mm wheelbase body. Really good fun to drive. First body I have ever used magnets.

  13. Well yesterday rather than today 😊 Started on the Baja Flux build, started on the rear end first and will move to the front once the rear is complete, obviously. Few places just mocked up for now with what came in the kit but will be changing them to either carbon fibre or alloy. Changing majority of fixings to stainless steel as I go.

  16. Something I have wanted to do for years with an RC! Was a lot of fun but sadly underestimated how much extra juice the paddles and the sheer open space would end up draining the batteries super quick! Will do this again in the future with more batteries.

  19. The Pay and Play day was great though we did cut it short due to it being extremely muddy which was very interesting on road tyres. That being said I was really surprised at how capable the Navara was, I wasn't convinced it do half of what it did. The Hill decent control works extremely well. Only got one pic but I think there were a few people taking videos so if I come across any I'll post them up.

  21. The old Shell Oil Refinery on Anglesey. I wanted to go for a look round years ago when some buildings were still there, sadly all gone today when we went for a nosey. Took some photos of what is left of the pipework. And yes, I did open the small valve in the middle and yes it started hissing! 🙄 The above shows the base of one of the eleven 'tanks'. Can just make out the curve of it in grey, huge things. Bit of research online shows that some of the pipes led underground to the coast at Amlwch Port, a few miles away, where they would unload the large oil tankers using a floating pumping station. After this was processed it was pumped down some other pipes which go all the way to Ellesmere Port, which is about 60 miles away. I believe the pipes are still present underground. The land is currently for sale (203 acres), there were plans to build a prison 😕 originally but that changed to building a Centre Parcs 🤢 Now it's highly likely that it will be purchased by the government to build housing for the construction workers of the nearby nuclear power station, which is going to be rebuilt on the previous nuclear power station (Wylfa).

  22. That's a bold styling statement. and an interesting pricepoint. Put those two together, and you have a recipe for a truck that will stick to the store shelves like a limpet.

  23. In no way the fastest but, posting as after months of this gathering dust I finally got on a BP high an painted the sod! So stoaked on the results as this was my first 4 color job. I did do a patina layer after the first main color coat ann it came out so subtle! It made the over spray look intentional 😄 Proline 66 F150 crawler shell with numbers from Chingy!

  26. So I stayed up well into the early hours this morning to get this finished. Must admit I was very impressed with the MCI Decals! Only thing I struggled with, theres some Chinese lettering that was white on white backing…. I must have missed this and binned them. Also the MCI Ones arent numbered so I had to use pictures on Tamiya Base to find out where to put them all. Black on Black on Smoke. Easy enough The Porsche’s so far With his 1995 JGTC Opponent! Theres some gaps appearing as Ive spaced them a bit better. Theres also something else on the way going next to the Supra 😉

  28. I own a Axial Wraith which I love but for my sons I got a FTX Hi-Rock and my youngest has a Axial 1/24 scale Jeep in all goestly for the price if the Hi-Rock you cant go wrong, my so. (Age 7) has put that thing through the ringer, broke some parts but its cheap to fix and its amazingly capable. Goes everywhere my Wraith does and that thing is more than Double (Vanquish upgrades) the price! some pics for comparison of the two bigger rigs

  29. I'm not OCD or anything but... Printing this to drop straight in (including the radius at the bottom) is very satisfying! I could of done an extra top layer to make it slightly cleaner.

  33. nothing major, decided to get the Fury 2.0 out i was thinking i would sell this on but its a nice truck so keeping it, i remounted the 1080 esc as it kept lifting (poor quality sticky pads) and did tethered body clips, hard to see in pics. I have lost a wiper so might look for new ones or just delete the one on it

  35. Going racing with a proper E-buggy again after a brief love affair with an Agama a319 nitro that ended in a dead Reds Scuderia race motor after a random conrod failure. I can't be arsed to buy another 400 quid race engine. Have ordered a Tekno EB48 2.1 and a Hobbywing ESC/Taurus motor to go in it. The buggy is on back order so I have dragged my old Ansmann X8E out of the lock up and gone through it like a ton of bricks so I have a test bed for the electronics whilst I'm sorting the new chassis. Jobs today have been: Bloody good clean/as much rust removal as possible All bearings lubed Diffs pulled, checked for condition, drained, cleaned and refilled with fresh oil set 10/7/5 respectively. Shocks stripped, seals greased and refilled. Radio box built up with my race radio, a trick steering servo out of the Agama and topped with a transponder. Found/fitted a mixed set of hexes/nuts cos I robbed the originals off it for something else over the years. New velcro straps. Royal mail tried to deliver the new power system for it Sat but both me and the missus were at work so will pick up tomorrow. Can't wait to get it out on the track again. Pics as it stands. It was/is very rusty. 😁😂

  36. There's two routes you can go with this- -Stock style body for more of a scale rig, looks great however you'll be limited to the wheels size and amount of suspension travel you can have due to binding on the body. - Injora tarantula style cage where you aren't that limited to what you can run however you don't get the scale look. Personally I went for the cage style as that's what I prefer.

  39. I've been doing a few hard bodies lately, never put them on any crawlers as the weight put me off. But I think they do look really cool. I picked up this Injora cherokee pick up body (jeep pick up truck is a comanche). Fits really good. Most of the trucks I have need lower rear shock towers or a cantilever shock setup to allow the rear bed to sit at the right height. Straight on at the correct height on the scx10 pro chassis. I tried to get the nardo grey Audi colour. The nearest I could get was ts32 haze grey. So in the picture the body is sat on the stock rear body mounts and the front bumper. Magnetic mounts would probably work. It would be good if I could swap the bodies reasonably easy, both bodies on magnetic mounts and the front bumper to change. The pictures aren't great and the body isn't finished, I was just curious to see if it would fit. I do think it looks pretty good.

  40. Took out the little Trx4m bronco for some trail driving. I walked past a fallen tree a few times and wondered if the crawlers would go up or down it. The high stock gears are probably better for trail driving.

  41. Two sets of 1.9 beadlock wheels, both black. One set are the steel stamped deep dish. I like those because they're like the steel wheels I put on my off roaders. The other set are black aluminium six spokes. A 5 slot 550 motor for one of the crawlers. A waterproof receiver box for £1.55, bargain! And some magnetic body mounts for the hard body builds.

  43. Here’s my thoughts, £780 in the states plus a typical delivery service say £20, yeah so thats a bargain considering its an American based company selling to an American customer. now if we want one we have to pay more, first off, shipping, yes “by the boat load” but that and having it flown over has gone up quite a bit recently due to the situation were in at this time. Then when it does arrive to the U.K it has to be unloaded, processed then ready to be shipped off to next, the cost of diesel has also risen along with staff wages and again the world as it is. then onto British trucks, we had a massive shortage during COVID to the extent where i even had a letter asking me if i wanted to return to driving, so wages increased massively if you where a dedicated trucker oh and that old diesel thing again too… so at a regional hub, smaller vehicles delivering to their own distribution hub etc. etc. etc. by the time its in our hands, its been in twenty others too all at a cost to us at the end of the chain. but some people (myself included) choose to, shall we say, suck up this cost, because its what we have chosen to buy, its the reality we live in today im afraid. Don’t forget that all us rc’ers are fortunate to have this little bit of luxury when so many cant afford to “exist” the other option would be to fly over and get one in your luggage for the return trip, would that cost more than £310 to do?? I genuinely have no idea so yeah, thats my thoughts, also just to mention, the hobby shop slice of the pie is very small too….

  44. I bought a Blue Painted R34 Z Tune shell so we played Body/Wheel Merry Go Round First of all. Correct wheels onto the Repsol Cosworth I moved the Evo 7 WRC and Rally Wheels to the TA02 I bought just for the wheels above I then put my new Z Tune R34 Body and some 2 Piece Tamiya Wheels on my SRX. The wheels rub on the TT02SRX, but its a shelfer so not the end of the world Blue is just so much better than box art! I may have a plan for the clear wing......

  45. The stock gear are reasonably durable for what they are. I've broken a rear shaft. The Injora diff gears are pretty cheap with loads of option. For what they cost I think they are well worth and builds a very tough drive train. Definitely don't right off the little Trx4m.

  46. Ok I won't bother with shafts for now then. Is this the arm I need? https://greensmodels.co.uk/products/axial-scx10-ii-ar44-stainless-steel-wide-angle-steering-link-set-for-axle-mounted-servo if not do you have a link? The Mad Mauler has arrived! What tyres do people recommend for it for mix of trails/rocks?

  48. My girlfriend actually hit the nail on the head for me. I showed her the Traxxas Video (which is extremely good IMO) and she said it look like it drives like the old Slash youve had plenty of, and you always preferred driving trucks over the short course because as good as they look, they dont drive as well as truck due to the silly parachuting. Lets say Im out in the terrain that is showm in that video, would this do anything that my XRT, or Sledge, or even my Maxx doesnt? Then on top of that I have an X Maxx. Where does this fit. Before getting into my Tamiya’s, I had pretty much the whole Traxxas catalogue. Ive since sold my E Revo 2.0, Slash 4x4, Rally, UDR, Stampede 4x4, and 3x Revo’s. In terms of bashers I still have an X Maxx, XRT, Sledge, Rustler 4x4 and 2x Maxxs (which this is based on). What does this Maxx Slash do that I cant do with my current depleted stable? Id argue my XRT would still drive and bash better. I could sell a Maxx as we have two, to buy this maybe but Id be lucky to get half the cost of this (as Id sell my least modified one) and is it going to be any better? For me, Trucks are better than short course trucks (but dont look as good I admit). So the Maxx Slash wouldnt get much use. I can justify that with my Tamiya’s, not another £750 basher
