Bit more on the Mojave 4s service.
Never really liked all this wrenching on RC cars I do only what was necessary but after working on the Team Corallys and this Arrma I am enjoying it 🙂. I think I find these such a delight to work on because coming from a owning UDR anything is easier 😄.
Mogs not helping much tonight think he's all tired out from all that grafting! chilling in the sun 😆
Cheers @Partydaz, pleased with it as it's only my 2nd paint job. For the initial masking I used thin tamiya masking tape that is easy to follow the body curves, then used wider tamiya masking tape to mask the rest up. In the future I fancy doing one with several colours, 👍
That looks brilliant, top job on the colour coordination😀. What masking or thingy mabob did you use to get the sweeping line effect?.
Going try a two tone effect on the rally car shell but need get my research mode on to find bit and bobs for masking etc. all I ever do is one colour but really wanna get stuck into painting a nice shell.
I built one of these up and I love it. Bit of advice, buy the aluminium hinge pin holders. The rear will break with one hard landing. And don’t run them stock tyres on tarmac. You’ll shred them in minutes. I put proline badlands on mine and it drives so much better.
Yes though I think I might have to shave a little bit of material off of the battery tray where the wires come out, it doesn't need much removing but it would make closing the battery door a bit easier.
Going give the Carisma sca-1e coyote a bit of love after the front diff blew up last Saturday, after two years guess I should check everything and swap what's needed. Even got shims for the diffs incase it needs it 🙂, all I have done to this is regrease when needed and it's been solid bit of kit.
Had the first attempt at driving or suppose riding the Promoto SM out the front of the house. First there's really not enough room to drive it there, second I think the front brake just needs to be ever so slightly more powerful. Need to find somewhere with more space and get a bit more practice with it as there's definitely a learning curve for these.
Finally got round to doing some maintenance on the Mojave 4s, not touched this since I had it In December and it's been my go to RC as it just works and drives so smoothly. Got to say so far this has been a joy to work on these 4s Arrmas are really growing on me.
The power module thing loves to get stuck because of sand and grit but good old wiggle with a big ol' flat blade screw driver gets it moving.
After all the water it went through on Sunday not much got into to the diff and most the grease was still intact so just smeared that back on where it flung off the gears and got stuck to the inside of the diff housing...yes I am that cheap 😆. Managed to save 2 out of 4 hub bearings, that's the rear done so rest will get done later in the week.
