Heres the plan with the electrics. Planning to stay 2S with the upgraded Traxxas 4A USBC Charger. Im going for a 5400kv sensored ESC/Motor. I have a faster 25kg alloy servo and a RX to bind to my Noble NB4. Im hoping Ill have more top speed but not stupid torque that’ll give me diff issues and constant wheelies. Now for anyone thinking they NEED to do this. They dont. Its great stock IMO. I may even ruin it doing this! BUT I had all these electronics brand new sat in a Tamiya Shelfer Ill never even take outside. All this has cost me is £8 for a 3D ESC plate and £5 to swap from XT to TRX esc plug. I may need a new pinion too. Im not going to sell the stock electrics till Im happy with it. If Im not happy with it Ill go back to stock. I may not even bother changing the Tx/Rx tbh No idea when Ill get time to do this mind. Being a Dad is tough haha2 points

What did I do to my model today? I didn't box any of them up to send back to Traxxas because there's thousands sunk into them! They're staying with me!2 points

2 new arrivals this festive season! First up, a little co-ax Blade Scout. Didn;t have one...and this turned up for less than £10, so I had to rehome it. Came with original box and packing, but the canopy was split quite badly along the underside. A replacement is on it's way. It's not really a regular flyer, but it fills out the collection. Second new arrival was an absolute bargain! Blade MCPx. New in box. Box had been opened by heli never flown. You can tell it hasn;t. Not a mark on the blades, canopy or tail, and the gears have no marks to indicate wear or use. No grubby marks or fluff anywhere. Came with DX4 TX and a couple of batteries. Have bound up the TX, charged a battery and run it up on hte deck, to make sure all the controls work as they should, and it's all good. Everything works. Even had the still packed TX batteries, though these wre unservicable and have been sent to the recycling. She's a little beauty. £50 paid. It was on E-Bay BIN, and I wasn;t going to wait and try and snag a lowball bid. I know a good deal when I see one, and if I didn;t jump, someone else would have. This one wasn't going to hang around.1 point

You can by shorter ones or do the old school wrap it round a screwdriver shaft and turn it into a phone wire1 point

How much are you wanting to spend and what are you really wanting from the model? I don't have MT10, but I really like the look of their SC10 stadium truck. However, might I suggest a different route: https://www.modelsport.co.uk/product/tamiya-konghead-6x6-g6-01-409212 Tamiya Konghead. Its a kit, so you'll get to build it, which is frankly half the fun of RC cars. And you can dictate what sort of spec you want in terms of setup. The Kinghead is a great general use monster truck and unique with 6wd. Giving it very good off road ability, but it'll run on grass, dirt or even tarmac well. I run mine on 2S LiPo and a 10.5T brushless motor. If you want silly big air and intend to try and break an RC by launching it like a rocketship, it might not be the model for you. But for a fun to build and drive vehicle I really rate the Konghead.1 point

And don't forget, if you're running them wet, you'll need to spend a decent amount of time on aftercare, or they'll rust and start having issues. Most common is seized or destroyed bearings, this will happen when put away wet. Don't think that because the box states "waterproof", that you can drive through puddles carefree and not pay your penance. For the above reason, I'm a fair weather basher, just don't have the time for cleaning and drying.1 point

Took the Mojave out around the quarry it drifts like the UDR if you push it but sounds like a rattle can when it's bouncing over stuff doesn't have the beef of the UDR but it's just as much fun 😄 and found some ice to slide about on. And the inner cage thingy ma bob keeps most the **** out 😀 probably about 20 packs in and I really like it, I can why these Arrmas are popular. Only let down is the plastic pivot balls 🤮 reckon they had to save money somwhere they already wearing out.1 point

Put some savage xl wheels on the maxx to run it in the snow, was keeping a close eye on the temps as they are really too big but the added ground clearance def helped1 point

Got the main build done with added random electronics I had in the draw 😀. Forgot how smooth this 1080 ESC is and found the program card and turned off all the crawler options but this traxxas servo is crazy slow even on 7.4v thinks it's out my trx4. Had to pop the body on see what it looks like and I love it, it's staying on the bench in my room tonight so I can stare at it 🥰1 point

Some rubber glove treatment for a couple of cars destined for a UK beach when the weather gets better. Hoping a double layer is enough to keep the receivers dry when they get hosed down when back home! First car was fairly easy as the receiver just needed shoving in a panel gap but the 2nd I had to move the receiver location and then hope the VHB holds well to latex. Time will tell!1 point

I've given up using FB, never used reddit or IG either. Used to find stuff just got lost in the ether, very difficult to keep track of a particular issue/subject and much of it was utter nonsense anyway. At least here you can keep up with things easier, and its just simpler / more enjoyable to spend a few mins checking out the latest threads / keeping up with the latest news etc.1 point

Couple more points i would like to add, the whole 5th scale petrol scene has quietened down due to those nervous types that complain, so not having suitable bash spots anymore and the fact they are a (Losi 5ive) best part of a 25kg missile!! lol. the hobby has waves of differing areas, remember the short course craze?? That was a massive shift! Then drones, now it looks like the crawler part of the hobby is flourishing as this was very quiet and niche for some years. I’m absolutely sure the large scale interest will come back, although i believe it will be electric and not i/c which is a shame as i really liked the howl of the engine and smell from the exhaust. last thing i would add regards making stuff, i used to make a kit to turn a Scx10 to suit the popular Defender 90 body, made loads of them and sold like hot cakes but, price of raw materials sky rocketed, as with the electricity hikes made it look really expensive when compared to the equivalent Chinese offering at a ridiculously low price with a overall better finish. i do still tinker but more with plasticard now, that said i have made my own version of rear bumper for the Traxxas Trx4m Defender… after being here for some years, yes the likes of face ache have lured away lots of people, this forum has a wealth of knowledge, changes with the times and will always have loyal supporters. Quality over quantity with members, id rather have 1 decent guys instead of having 10 dicks. sorry for the ramble.1 point
